Chapter 52
Noticing how tense she looked, Thendare thought. What kind of call would make her avoid me and
boyfriend?
The possibility made lis biens draw together.
Moments later, Eliana returned, her eyes faintly red. “Sorty to keep you waiting”
I show that kind of expression? Could it be here
Theodore thought bitterly, Geere. She has no idea how helpless she looks right now and how much it makes people want to protect her
He suddenly recalled that voice message from her college classmate the one that had mentioned her ex boyfriend. His expression turned grim, and he said, “I want to go back to the room.”
Eliana blinked, confused. “But we just came outside.”
“My eyes hurt. Is that not allowed?” he snapped.
Immediately concerned, Eliana asked, “Could it be dust? Should I call Dr. Wilson?”
“NO NEED, Theodore barked, turning to leave.
But in the very next second, a light tug pulled at the hem of his jacket. Irritated, he turned around–only to see Eliana looking at him with curious eyes. “Don’t you need me to guide you?”
Theodore suddenly realized he had almost given himself away. His heart sank as he scolded himself inwardly, “I’m the hunter. How could I let myself be thrown off balance by the prey?”
Back in the room, Eliana headed into the bathroom and returned shortly with a steamed towel. She said, “This is a hot towel. You said your eyes hurt,
right? Let me apply a warm compress for you.“”
In truth, Theodore’s vision was already beginning to go dark. He had pushed himself well beyond his limits today, and now the strain was catching up with him. Taking the towel from her, he tilted his head back and pressed it against his eyes.
Elana noticed how tightly his lips were pressed together. He looked like he was genuinely in pain. She stepped behind him and began to gently massage his temples,
The rest of the night passed in silence.
The next morning, aher getting dressed, Eliana said, “I gotta go home today. Will you be alright on your own?”

Theodore’s lips pressed into a line. He thought bitterly, “She didn’t even ask if i’d like to go with her. Is it because I’m blind? Or maybe she only r me for money, so she doesn’t think things like meeting the family matter?
Either possibility left a sour taste in his mouth. His response came out edged and sharp. “I was on my own before you ever showed up, wasn’t?”
Eliana sensed something had been off with him since the previous night, though she couldn’t quite put her finger on the reason. She chose her words carefully and replied. “That’s different. You’re my responsibility now. I have to make sure you’re safe,”
Theodore scoffed and ground his teeth. He had the sudden urge to bite her again, like he did when she led him the shrimp. Instead, he turned his back to her and said coolly, “Just go ahead. I could use a day of peace and quiet.”
Eliana opened her mouth and simply said, “Goodbye”
When she reached the ground floor, she happened to see Barbara, dressed in a nightgown, walking toward the kitchen.

Chapter 52
After a moment’s thought, Ellana approached her and spoke up. “Hey, Yame is i
me is Barbie, right? I heard Anthony call you that yesterday
Barbara looked surprised that Eliana initiated a conversation, but the surprise quickly turned into a cold expression. “Don’t call
close. And don’t try to get friendly with me. It’s useless”
In truth, Eliana wasn’t here for pleasantries either. She came to the point. “Here’s the thing. I have to go home today, but I’m a little uneasy about leaving, Theodore by himself
you seem to care about him more than inost, so I was wondering if I could trouble you to keep an eye on him. Would that be alright?”
Under normal circumstances, Eliana wouldn’t ask, but things had gotten bense between Theodore and Lainey over the past two days. Ellana was worried that if he left his room while she was gone, there was no telling what might happen.
