The moment she heard that, Lainey looked like she’d been struck by lightning–fer eyes rolled back and she fainted on the spot.
“Mrs. Russelll” Wyatt cried out anxiously. “Mr. Russell, what should we do?”
Anthony rubbed his temples and replied, “Take my mother back to her room so she can rest
Then he got up, walked over to Sophie, and placed his hands on her shoulders, “Don’t tell anyone about this just yet, okay?” he said softly.
Sophie nodded blankly, like she was in a trance.
“Go on,” Anthony said.
With that, Sophie and Wyatt supported Lainey, one on each side, and helped her out. In no time, only Anthony was left in the room. His expression quickly turned cold.
A few seconds later, he let out a mirthless laugh, thinking it was easy to figure out whether Theodore was really blind or just faking it.
Meanwhile, Eliana was walking hand in hand with Theodore in the courtyard, quietly mulling over all the strange things that had happened lately.
First, Theodore had managed to crack the floor–to–ceiling window. Then Luke told her that someone had replied to his text message in the middle of the night on her behalf.
At first, she thought it was ridiculous, but when she checked her messages, Luke’s text was nowhere to be found. So, unless Luke was lying, someon must have sent that reply for her.
And just now at dinner, when she tried to stand up, Theodore had subtly tripped her, making her sit back down.
All these little things made Eliana start to wonder whether Theodore could actually see again. She suddenly stopped in her tracks and softly called out, “Theodore.”
Theodore turned toward her, his expression calm. “What is it?”
Not wanting to hurt his pride, Eliana didn’t get straight to the point/Instead, she asked, “Are you… hiding something from me?”
Theodore smirked and said half–jokingly, “You’ll have to be more specific. I’ve got plenty of secrets”
Eliana ignored his teasing and asked seriously, “I mean… your eyes. Have they healed?”
Theodore “stared” at her for a few seconds before saying, “You know, I still don’t know what you look like. Mind if I feel your face?”
That was basically his way of saying he still couldn’t see. Eliana’s hopeful gaze dimmed with a touch of sympathy, but deep down, she still wasn’t fully convinced. “Sure, go ahead,” she said.
Theodore raised his hands, pretending to fumble around in the air for a bit before finally touching her cheek. When his rough fingertips brushed against her soft lips, both of them froze.
Eliana quickly stepped back, her cheeks flushed. She mumbled, “It’s fine. I know you didn’t mean it.”
Theodore raised an eyebrow–he’d done it on purpose.
With that little distraction, Eliana forgot all about pressing him for answers. They walked on in silence, the atmosphere peaceful and warm,

Chapter 66
Late that night, Inside a nightclub, under the dim, hazy lights, a row of pont tables stretched across the room. One of the all focused on the man lining up his shot.
Clinton, cigarette dangling from his lips, squinted as he bent over and sank the last ball with a smooth shot. As soon as he strais woman sauntered over with a flirty smile, leaning in for a kiss.
Amidst a chorus of cheers, Clinton pressed the cue stick against her neck and said expressionlessly, “Go away”
“Mr. Wiley, who pissed you off tonight?” someone teased, since Clinton had just turned down a pretty woman.
Clinton didn’t answer, Instead, a stubborn yet pretty face flashed through his mind.

He couldn’t help but think, “What a shame. Of all people, she has to go and become Anthony’s mistress. Tomorrow, I’ll show up with 10 million dollars and stir things up again.”
Just then, his phone rang. Without even glancing at the screen, he picked up. “What?”
“Clinton,” the person on the other end of the phone said casually,
Clinton froze, like he’d been hit with a spell. It took him a few seconds to find his voice. “Th–Theodore?!”
“It’s me,” replied Theodore.
Clinton quickly yanked the phone away from his ear to check the caller 10. When he saw that it really was Theodore calling, he brought the phone back to his ear and asked excitedly, “it’s really you? Your eyes are healed?!”
Theodore didn’t answer the question. He simply said, “I’ll keep this short–stay away from Eliana and her therapy center.”
Clinton was so shocked that the cigarette at the corner of his mouth dropped straight to the floor. “Wait–what? You’re going after the same woman as Anthony? Are we really doing this again?”
Theodore replied coolly, “She’s different.”
Clinton curled his lip. He didn’t think Eliana was different from any other girl, and she struck him as even more pure and sweet than Alice back in the day -definitely a femme fatale.
But he didn’t dare to mess with Theodore. When he was young and reckless, he had tried to muscle in on Theodore’s turf and had ended up in the hospital for three months.
And after that, he spent a year in jail for fighting and causing trouble. Meanwhile, nothing had happened to Theodore.
Since then, whenever he saw Theodore, he’d keep his head down and steer clear. Still, he had to admit, he genuinely admired Theodore for his tactics.
Although Theodore had kept a low profile the past couple of years after losing his sight in the accident, Clinton never thought he’d stay down for long And since Theodore had never called for any woman before, Clinton decided to do him this favor.
After weighing it all for a second, Clinton agreed easily, “Alright, Theodore, you’ve got my word.”
Meanwhile, after hanging up, Theodore glanced back at the petite woman on the bed. Without his body heat, she’d curled up into a ball under the
covers.
“She doesn’t seem to do well with the cold, he thought. He set his phone down, got back into bed, and pulled Eliana into head and whispered, “I’m sorry.” His voice was barely audible.

He thought to himself, I shouldn’t have accused you of being materialistic or lashed out at you because of that. My childhood was rough, but at least had Grandpa to watch over me. Yours was even harder, but there was no one for you.
Chapter 66
The next day, at Starlight Media, Eliana clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention. Then she said, “Alright, everyone, let’s have a meeting. We’re going to review the initial drafts for Mr. Anthony Russell’s engagement ceremony and pick the best one. Any questions?”
“I’ve got a question–I haven’t even started designing yet,” someone replied.
“Me neither,” another echoed
“Same here,” someone else chimed in.
One after another, several people raised their hands. Eliana glanced around and noticed that they were the same women who’d gossiped about her in the restroom, accusing her of trying to seduce her future brother–in–law.
She pressed her lips together and said, “But I already gave you several days to come up with ideas.”
“Sorry, just didn’t have any inspiration,” one of them replied nonchalantly.
Eliana nodded. “Then you don’t need to participate. Anyone who’s done with their drafts, follow me to the conference room.”
As the staff stood up to join Eliana, the group started to get restless. Too proud to back down, they tried to use Hannah as an excuse.” Ms. Hannah Burke were here, she’d never make such a rash decision as you do.”
“Too bad Ms. Hannah Burke took the day off,” said Jennifer, who had stayed silent until now. She walked you want to say?”
The group instantly went silent.
