Chapter 70
“He’s a good guy,” replied Elana
Theodore let out a cold snert and said, “Oh yeah? What’s so good about him?”
Thinking he was genuinely curious, Elians answered earnestly, “Mr. Has always looked out for me, whether as my boss or as my future brother in law Yesterday, he even drove me to the Therapy Center and called both Anthony and the police for me.”
Hearing this. Theodore suddenly cupped her lace and kissed her hard. When he finally let her go, he bit her lip so hard that tears welled up in her eyes
from the pain.
Eliana glared at him, both angry and aggrieved. She complained inwardly, “What the hell?! He asked, so I answered. Now I’m getting kissed for it? And bitten too? What is with this guy?”
Theodore looked down at her. After being fiercely kissed, she looked both sweet and sexy no wonder men wanted to take care of her,
But everything she just said should’ve been his responsibilities, not Nolan’s, and definitely not that scheming Anthony’s
After a moment, Theodore said seriously, “Someone in your company is trying to harm you. Stay away from your boss from now on.”
Eliana blinked. “But even if I stay away from him, there are other men around, right? I can’t just stop talking to all the men at work.”
Theodore was momentarily at a loss for words.
Eliana continued, “If I’m innocent, then there’s nothing to worry about. People can say whatever they want. No matter what kind of photos you receive. just assume they’re all photoshopped.”
Theodore let out a frustrated laugh. “Are you taking advantage of the fact that I can’t see?”
Eliana grinned, her eyes curving, and she looked stunning “No, I just know you’ll always have my back.”
Theodore was thrown off by her answer. “Eliana, why don’t you just quit and stay home to take care of me?”
“Quit? Then will you support me?” Eliana asked with a bright smile. “And the Therapy Center I’m running. That place costs a fortune every

Eliana would have to keep the center afloat, with
Theodore almost blurted out, “I’ve supported tens of thousands of employees at Russell Group–what’s one more?”
But before he could say anything, Eliana beat him to it. “Just kidding. I’m not in any position to ask you to support me. After all, this is just a marriage of convenience, and your grandfather’s already paid me off.”
She had to keep reminding herself–talling for a man who’s still hung up on his ex was just asking for heartbreak.
Theodore frowned. “You’re not some product with a price tag”
“Let’s not talk about that. Look what I brought you. Eliana lifted the sandwiches, showing them off like a treasure. “Sandwiches! The teachers and kids at the Therapy Center made them. I packed two servings just for us. Want to try?”
Theodore nodded: “Sure.”
But when Eliana opened the container, she saw that the sandwiches looked pretty awful, having been sitting too long. The Kings were oozing out, the bread was soggy and unappetizing.
She couldn’t help but stick out her tongue, secretly glad for the first time that Theodore couldn’t see them.

Thana spat out what was in her mouth – whole live, pit and all She’d bitten straight into the pit, and now her teeth ached a little
“An olive,” she said, laughing, “Guess one of the kids stuffed it in by accidant.”
Theodore suddenly turned his sandwich around to show her. “Mine has jelly in it
Eliana stared at the hall eaten sandwich in his hand. “Who puts jelly and olives in sandwiches? Next time I go there, flask who the mastermind is behind these surprise Nings”
Theodore gave her a meaningful look. “You think someone’s just messing with us, or is this some kind of twisted taste test
Eliana laughed. “If it’s a challenge, they’re definitely winning”
A faint smile tugged at Theodore’s lips. “Sandwiches with hidden surprises. Those kids are interesting”
Eliana nodded in agreement. But she couldn’t understand why the people at the Therapy Center would do something like this
She wondered, “Yesterday, Anthony showed up to help me. Did the teachers and kids mistake him and me for a couple, and this is their way of having fun with my boyfriend? That would be quite a misunderstanding”
She hurried to explain, “I never told them we were married.”
After all, Theodore had made the boundaries clear from the start, and except for that one time she explained it to Nolan, she’d always kept it a secret.
“What?” Theodore was confused. After hearing Ellana’s guess, he responded with a hall–smile, “So they misunderstood.”
Eliana quickly nodded. “Exactly!*
Theodore set his sandwich down, his eyes suddenly sharp. “So did they mistake you for being with Anthony or with your boss?”
Eliana nearly choked on her food. “This guy really doesn’t let anything slide, does he?‘ she thought. ‘He’s figured out exactly what the teachers at the center were thinking
She tried to appease him. “They’ve only met Mr. Hall and Anthony, so it’s easy to get the wrong idea. But I’ve already cleared it up. So don’t worry. I’m not
cheating on you
But that didn’t make Theodore feel any better. He remembered what Samuel had said: to Eliana, the Therapy Center was like home, and the people there were her family. Now, her family thought she was with another man, and there was nothing he could do about it.
He was the one who dealt with Clinton and protected the center, but he still didn’t have any official place in her life. A rare wave of grievance welled up in Theodore’s chest. But he forgot he had brought this upon himself.
At the same time, Anthony got home from work just in time to see a middle–aged woman slinking out the front door, looking embarrassed.
After a moment, he looked away and walked into the living room.
“Mons, who was that woman who just leh?” he asked.
Lainey replied irritably, “Don’t even mention. That was Eliana’s mother. She came in here with a photo, saying she wanted to teach Eliana a lesson but ended up getting chewed out by Theodore over some debt. She left with bar tail between her legs.”
“What photo?”

“it’s right here.” Lainey handed him the photo Helinda had left behind and filled him in on what had happened.
Anthony stared at the photo. “Theodore said this was photoshopped?“
“But it’s obviously net, Anthony thought, chuckling Theodore trusts Eliana so much. I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he gets stabbed in the back again.
Just then, a flash of excitement appeared on Lainey’s face. “Oh almost forgot had Dr. Carey come by to check Theodore’s eyes today. And guess what? Still no improvement”
“Really?” Anthony sounded a bit skeptical
Lainey immediately stopped smiling and asked nervously. “S, are you worried there’s something fishy going on!”
Anthony smiled. “We’ll know for sure on my engagement day.”
Lainey quickly asked, “What are you planning?”
“Just a little test.” Anthony slipped Eliana’s photo into his pocket and didn’t say anything else.
