Chapter 10
Sienna went pale as a sheet, her body trembling. She couldn’t believe Damien was humiliating her publicly like this.
Mrs. Hawthorne Sr. was stunned too, pointing at Damien: “Damien, have you lost your goddamn mind? Talking to Sienna like this because of that bitch? Have you forgotten what you promised me?!”
Damien looked at Mrs. Hawthorne Sr. coldly: “Mom, this is the last time I’m calling you ‘Mom.‘ What I promised you was to take care of Sienna, not marry her! You’ve been pushing me to marry Sienna, pushing me to abandon Brooklyn–have you ever considered how I feel?!”
Mrs. Hawthorne Sr.’s expression changed as she quickly explained: “Damien, are you worried about marrying your cousin? We already looked into it–there was a mistake! Sienna isn’t my sister’s daughter! You two can get married!”
Sienna suddenly turned to the crowd, crying: “You’re all misunderstanding Damien! He never wronged his wife–this is all my fault! I’m the shameless one, I’m the one who seduced him… If you want to blame someone,
blame me, not Damien. He’s just too kind–hearted…”
Looking at Sienna, Damien felt nothing but revulsion. How had he ever thought she was kind? Pitiful? He must have
been fucking blind!
He said harshly: “Sienna, cut the act! Your tears, your kindness–it’s all fake! You’re a manipulative, vicious woman!
I was blind to ever believe you!”
He thought of my goodness, of everything I had done for him, for our family. Eight miscarriages, sixty–eight IVF procedures–I never complained once. And what did he do? He took my sacrifices for granted and personally killed
our child.
Damien turned to the crowd and declared loudly: “I, Damien Hawthorne, love only Brooklyn in this lifetime! I will never divorce her! As for Sienna, I used to see her as a cousin, but from now on, we have no relationship
whatsoever!”
Mrs. Hawthorne Sr. was shaking with rage, screaming: “Damien! You ungrateful son! Treating me like this because of that cursed woman! How can you face me? How can you face Sienna? How can you face Noah?! You ungrateful
bastard!”
Damien looked at Mrs. Hawthorne Sr. coldly: “I used to respect you because you’re my mother. But now, I just think you’re pathetic! You’ve been fooled by Sienna, can’t tell right from wrong! You claim everything you do is for my good, for the family’s good, but what you’ve actually done is destroy me and destroy this family!”
He turned to Sienna with ice–cold eyes: “Sienna, from this moment on, we have nothing to do with each other! You‘ and your mother need to get out of this house immediately! I never want to see either of you again!”
Seeing Damien’s resolve, Mrs. Hawthorne Sr. nearly fainted with rage: “Damien, you wouldn’t dare! If you kick Sienna out, I’ll kill myself right here!”

Chapter 10
Damien laughed coldly: “Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me. The only person in my heart is Brooklyn!”
With that, he left the banquet hall without looking back. He had to find me and apologize face to face. He had to tell me he loved me. He would spend the rest of his life making up for what he owed me, even if I could never forgive
him.
Damien stormed out of the ballroom and immediately called my phone. Straight to voicemail.
He frantically contacted my friends, classmates, anyone who might know where I was. Nothing.
He tore through the Hawthorne estate like a man possessed–our bedroom, his study, the gardens… I was nowhere to be found.
“BROOKLYN! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!” he screamed, his voice raw and breaking. Only silence answered him.
