Chapter 9
Sarah explained everything calmly, presenting each piece chronologically.
With every slide, Damien’s face grew paler, his body shaking more violently.
He finally understood–I knew EVERYTHING. I wasn’t stupid. I was just enduring it all. I endured eight miscarriages, sixty–eight IVF procedures, the agony of childbirth, the despair of losing my child. I endured his betrayal with Sienna, endured the humiliation from every member of the Hawthorne family.
And all of it–every single bit–was orchestrated by HIM!
He had once loved Brooklyn deeply. He had once looked forward to having children with her. So how did it come to
this? How did he become so cold, so cruel?
Damien’s body trembled violently. He couldn’t imagine how much pain I had endured alone. He couldn’t believe he was capable of such things.
He regretted it all, but it was too late.
The banquet hall erupted in chaos, guests talking over each other:
“Jesus Christ, that’s evil! This guy is absolutely inhuman!”
“Eight miscarriages, sixty–eight IVF attempts… How did Brooklyn survive all that?”
“His own son! How could he do that to his own flesh and blood?”
“That Sienna bitch isn’t any better! Acts all innocent but she’s just a homewrecking whore!”
‘What cousin? She’s a goddamn mistress!”
“That poor baby, used as spare parts from the day he was born!”
‘Damien is a fucking monster! A complete psychopath!”
‘Brooklyn… God, that woman has been through hell!”
‘Rich people are seriously fucked in the head!”
The banquet hall was in complete chaos.
Damien’s face was ashen as he pushed through the crowd, trying to get out. All he wanted now was to find me and apologize to my face.
‘Damien! You can’t leave!” Sienna went completely psycho, lunging forward and grabbing his arm desperately. “If

you have, what happens to me? What about Noah? You can’t let them humiliate us like this! Tell them you love me! Tell them you’re going to marry me! Say it!”
Damien violently shook off her hand without mercy, making Sienna stumble. “Get the fuck off me!” His voice was for cold, filled with disgust. “Sienna, stop being so delusional! The only person I’ve ever loved is Brooklyn! I will never marry you”
“Damien‘” Mrs. Hawthorne Sr. rushed over, blocking his path with blazing eyes. “Where the hell do you think you’re going? Brooklyn wants a divorce? Good! Saves us the trouble of kicking her out! She can’t even produce a healthy kid–what’s the point of keeping her around?!”
She turned to the crowd, forcing a smile: “Everyone, we actually have another wonderful announcement today! Damien and Sienna–they’re the ones who truly love each other! Noah is the product of their love! This family of three is a match made in heaven! Let’s congratulate them!”
She added: “The Hawthorne family should have given Sienna her rightful place long ago! This poor girl has suffered so much since childhood, and now her struggles are finally over!”
The guests exchanged uncomfortable glances. No one dared to agree.
Sienna’s mother quickly jumped in: “Everyone, Sienna isn’t just beautiful–she’s incredibly capable! She’s about to graduate college, and she’s already decided to join Hawthorne Corporation as Vice President!”
But Damien whipped around, his eyes like poisoned daggers: “Who the hell said I was marrying Sienna? My wife has always been and will always be Brooklyn! She’s the ONLY woman I love!”
He looked at Sienna with pure disgust: “Sienna, I’ll say this one more time–you’re just my cousin! I will never marry you! And Vice President? You think Hawthorne Corp is some joke? You think a useless gold–digger like you can just waltz in there? Stop fucking dreaming!”
