Edwin read through the densely packed notes one by one. When he finished, he gave a soft laugh. “Sylvia, pursuing you was so challenging. I’m glad I didn’t give up.”
Looking at his earnest expression, Sylvia found herself momentarily stunned.
He had truly done so much to win her over. If she hadn’t heard those words from his own mouth, she might never have believed that this devoted man was thinking of someone else entirely when he looked at her.
Edwin didn’t notice her reaction. He reached out and embraced her. “Sylvia, I’m finally going to make you my wife. Tell me, after tonight, you’ll be mine forever, right?”
Sylvia shook her head.

Just then, the housekeeper walked in. “Excuse me, sir. It’s bad luck for the couple to see each other before the wedding. Perhaps it might be best if you headed to the hotel for the night?”
Hearing this, Edwin didn’t budge. He just kept holding Sylvia. “I want to stay with Sylvia.”
The housekeeper looked at him awkwardly. “Sir…”
Before he could continue trying to convince Edwin, a phone rang.
Looking at the caller ID, Edwin paused for a moment, then finally released Sylvia and stepped aside to answer.
Whatever was said on the other end changed his attitude completely. When he returned, he hugged her with obvious reluctance to leave.
“Sylvia, see you tomorrow.”
Sylvia knew he wasn’t leaving because of the housekeeper’s words, but because of that call.
It was from Tiffany.
She didn’t try to stop him. Just simply watched in silence as his figure disappeared through the front door.
Afterward, she carried all the packed boxes to the front yard of the villa.
She had instructed the staff earlier to prepare a fire pit. Though they didn’t understand why, they didn’t question her, dutifully setting it up in the garden.
Now, she threw the contents of the boxes into the flames one by one–photographs, notebooks, diaries.
As the last photograph was consumed by fire, she looked at the ashes and smiled faintly.
Edwin, I’ve burned all our memories.
