Despite all our worries, my brother and I still went to Holden’s place.
After all, we’d already done the work–and we hadn’t been paid yet.
My brother changed into his “boyfriend” outfit, a youthful and charming look, while I
donned my housekeeper uniform.
While I dutifully cleaned the villa, my brother sprawled on the couch, shamelessly
munching on a cucumber.
It was like we’d completely swapped roles.
Holden hadn’t arrived yet, so I sat down next to my brother and snatched the cucumber
out of his hand, biting into it.
“How much do we still need for the island?” I asked.
My brother started counting on his fingers.
“Five million. Just five million more, and we’re there.”
I sighed,
“I don’t know,” I muttered, “things feel like they’re getting out of hand. Someone found
out about my secret, and Holden’s clearly into you.”
I hesitated, then suggested, “Maybe we should lay low for a while. Go back to the
countryside?”
My brother thought for a moment, then nodded.
“Good idea. If someone found out about you, it’s better to be safe. Let’s head out
tomorrow.”

At that moment, the front door opened.
I shot to my feet, pretending to wipe the table.
It was Holden.
But to my horror, Hunter was right behind him.
Instinctively, I turned my head, trying to hide my face.
Holden was busy introducing my brother to Hunter, while I wished the ground would
swallow me whole.
I couldn’t fully remember what had happened before I passed out in the bathtub, but I knew myself well enough to guess–I’d probably made a drunken fool of myself.
Damn it. Alcohol really was the devil.
I tried to sneak away, but Hunter blocked my path, his expression unreadable.
“Miss Luna,” he said, “can we talk?”
I glanced back at my brother for help, but he was too busy being dragged upstairs by
Holden to notice me.

Left with no choice, I nodded reluctantly.
Hunter led me to the garden. I followed him hesitantly, unsure of what he wanted.
Didn’t he think it was weird that I’d gone from a gala guest last night to a housekeeper today?
He stopped walking and turned to face me.
I was so distracted by my thoughts that I nearly bumped into him.
Startled, I stumbled back a few steps.
Hunter looked me straight in the eye, his expression serious.
