I Will Marry Her
(Amber’s POV)
The hospital room was quiet after Dr. Marcus Gray finished his examination. He adjusted his glasses and looked at me with
concern.
“You need rest, Ms. Chase. Your body needs time to recover from the trauma.”
I nodded weakly, playing up my fragile state..“Thank you, doctor.
Dr. Gray turned to the others in the room. “I must insist that Ms. Chase be allowed to rest now. Visitors should be limited.”
Dominic stepped forward. “I’ll make sure she gets the rest she needs.”
Ryan clapped a hand on Dominic’s shoulder. “We’ll come back later. Take care, Amber.”
I watched as Ryan left the room, followed by a fuming Ethan who practically dragged Melissa’s wheelchair out. The look on his face was priceless – a mixture of confusion, anger, and disbelief.
Dominic approached my bed. “I have some matters to attend to. I’ll return this evening.”
He squeezed my hand gently before leaving. The gesture felt surprisingly intimate, and I found myself watching him until he disappeared through the doorway.
Once everyone had left except Paige, she rushed to my bedside, her eyes wide with excitement.
“What the hell was that?” she whispered, barely containing herself. “You don’t remember Ethan? Since when?”
I waited until I was certain no one was lingering outside the door before breaking into a grin.
“Of course I remember that cheating bastard. I’m not actually suffering from amnesia.”
Paige’s jaw dropped. “You’re faking it? Why?”
I adjusted myself against the pillows. “Think about it. This solves everything. No more awkward encounters with Ethan at pack gatherings. No more pitying looks from everyone. I’m free.”
“But-”
“But nothing. I’m tired of being the jilted ex–fiancée. This way, I don’t have to pretend to be civil to him or that backstabbing Melissa. As far as I’m concerned, they don’t exist to me anymore.”
Paige shook her head, but I could see the admiration in her eyes. “You’re unbelievable.”
“I know what I want,” I said firmly. “And I’m done letting others dictate how I should feel or act. This is my life, my pack, and I’m taking control.”
“And Dominic?” Paige raised an eyebrow. “What’s with the ‘my mate‘ business?”
I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face. “That’s part of the plan too.”
Paige leaned closer, intrigued. “I’m listening.”
“I’ve decided to take my place in the pack hierarchy. And what better way than through marriage to the future Alpha King?”
“So you’re using Dominic to climb the social ladder?” Paige looked skeptical.
“It’s not just that,” I admitted. “There’s something about him… something that makes me feel safe. Protected.”
“And the fact that it will drive Ethan insane is just a bonus?”
We both laughed.

“Tell me what really happened on those stairs,” Paige said, her expression turning serious. “Did Melissa push you?”
Ishook my head. “The opposite. She deliberately fell down the stairs herself.”
“What?” Paige’s eyes widened in shock. “That manipulative little
”
“She wanted to frame me for pushing her. Probably to avoid making that public apology Dominic demanded.”
Paige jumped to her feet. “I’m going to confront that bitch right now!”
I grabbed her arm. “No, not yet. Let me handle this my way. The timing needs to be right.”
“But she can’t get away with this!” Paige protested.
“She won’t,” I assured her. “But right now, I have other priorities.
Paige reluctantly sat back down. “At least Dominic managed to keep this quiet. If word got out that you supposedly pushed Melissa down the stairs at Ryan’s birthday celebration…”
“The entire Northern Territory would be buzzing with gossip,” I finished. “I know. I owe him for that.”
“We should still do something,” Paige insisted. “She tried to ruin your reputation!”
I reached for her hand. “And we will. But first, I need to focus on my marriage with Dominic.”
Paige’s eyebrows shot up. “Marriage? You’re serious about this?”
“Deadly serious,” I confirmed. “Now, I need you to do something for me. Tell everyone I fell accidentally. And make sure Melissa knows that if she tries to spread her version of events, we’ll expose her deception.”
“With pleasure,” Paige said with a determined gleam in her eye.
(Third–person’s POV)
Melissa James lay in her hospital bed, her head throbbing beneath the bandages. Everything had gone terribly wrong. The plan had seemed so perfect when Victoria suggested it – fake a fall, blame Amber, and use the incident to avoid the public apology while potentially blackmailing her.
But Amber’s sudden “amnesia” had thrown everything into chaos. How was she supposed to proceed now? If Amber truly couldn’t remember Ethan, did that mean she wouldn’t remember their confrontation either?
Melissa reached for her phone, wincing at the movement. She needed to call Victoria. Her future sister–in–law would know what to do next.
Before she could dial, the door to her room swung open. Paige Sullivan walked in, her expression cold
“We need to talk,” Paige said, closing the door firmly behind her.
Melissa swallowed nervously. “About what?”
determined.
“About your little stunt on the stairs.” Paige’s voice was dangerously calm. “Amber knows exactly what you did.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Melissa protested weakly.
Paige stepped closer to the bed. “Save it. Here’s the deal – Amber is willing to let this go if you stop spreading rumors throughout the community.“.
“But I didn’t-”
“If you don’t agree,” Paige continued as if Melissa hadn’t spoken, I’ll make sure the entire Blackwood family knows exactly what kind of person you are. And trust me, you won’t be marrying Ethan after that.”
Melissa’s eyes filled with tears. “You can’t prove anything.”

“Want to bet?” Paige smiled coldly. “Think about it, Melissa. Your hole”
Without waiting for a response, Paige turned and left the room, leaving Melissa trembling in her bed
Outside in the hallway, Ryan Quinn was waiting. “How did it go?”
“As expected,” Paige replied. “She’ll think twice before trying something like that again.”
Ryan nodded. “Amber really wants to drop this whole thing?”
“She says she has more important matters to focus on. Her emotional state is… fragile right now. Forgetting Ethan has been a shock.”
Ryan’s lips twitched. “Right. ‘Forgetting“”
“You know?” Paige asked, surprised.
“Please.” Ryan rolled his eyes. “I’ve known Amber since we were cubs. That woman doesn’t forget anything, especially not someone who hurt her.”
He pulled out his phone. “I should call Dominic and fill him in on what’s happening ”
After a brief conversation explaining Amber’s wishes regarding the incident, Ryan hung up and turned to Paige with a mischievous grin.
“So, Amber’s really going all in on this amnesia act, huh?”
“You have no idea,” Paige replied. “She’s completely committed.”
“And Dominic?” Ryan asked. “What’s his angle in all this?”
“I’m not sure,” Paige admitted. “But he’s playing along perfectly.”
Ryan chuckled. “Those two are more alike than they realize.”
He dialed Dominic’s number again, putting the call on speaker this time.
“Quinn,” Dominic’s deep voice answered. “What is it now?”
“Just checking in on your thoughts about Amber’s… condition,” Ryan said, amusement evident in his tone.
There was a pause before Dominic replied. “We both know she’s faking.”
“And you’re okay with that?” Ryan asked. “With her latching onto you like that?”
“I gave her the opportunity to latch onto me,” Dominic said calmly. “I will marry her.”
Ryan’s eyebrows shot up as he exchanged a look with Paige. Before either could respond, Dominic had ended the call.
“Well,” Ryan said, pocketing his phone. “That was definitive.”
Paige glanced at her watch. “I need to get some things from my car Will you stay with Amber?”
“Can’t. I have a meeting with a potential investor. But I’ll be back later.”
(Amber’s POV)
I woke up feeling uncomfortably hot. The hospital room was stuffy, and my forehead was damp with sweat.
“Could you wipe my forehead?” I murmured, assuming Paige had returned. “It’s so hot in here.”
A cool cloth pressed against my skin, bringing immediate relief. I sighed contentedly before opening my eyes.
Instead of Paige, I found myself looking up at Dominic Blackwood His powerful presence filled the small room, making it seem

even smaller.
“Oh!” I gasped, startled. “I thought you were Paige.”
“She went to get her belongings from the car,” he explained, his deep voice rumbling through the quiet room.
I struggled to sit up, and he immediately moved to help me, his strong hands easily supporting my weight.
“Thank you,” I said, suddenly aware of how close he was. “You can sit if you’d like.” I gestured to the chair beside my bed.
Dominic sat down, his piercing blue eyes studying me intently. “How are you feeling?”
“Better,” I replied. “The headache’s almost gone.”
A silence stretched between us, not entirely uncomfortable but charged with unspoken questions.
“You called me ‘Uncle‘ earlier,” he finally said. “I thought we’d moved past that.”
I felt heat rise to my cheeks. “I… well…”
“Habit?” he suggested, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
“Something like that,” I mumbled, struggling to come up with a plausible explanation that fit my amnesia act.
Dominic leaned forward slightly. “Not pretending anymore?”
The question caught me off guard. I stared at him, trying to gauge his reaction. His expression remained neutral, but there was a knowing look in his eyes that told me everything.
“You knew,” I whispered. “All along.”
“Of course,” he replied simply. “I know you, Amber.”
The realization that he had seen through my act from the beginning left me speechless. Dominic Blackwood had known the truth all along.
