I held a grand birthday party on the rooftop of a downtown high–rise.
In the business world, every networking opportunity needed to be leveraged,
That night, I chose a pure white, low–cut mermaid–style gown, my hair pulled back into a loose, elegant chignon, and slowly walked into the venue amidst the soft, atmospheric party lighting.
“Wow-” A collective gasp rippled through the crowd, as if reminding me: *Pull yourself together, Audrey! You’re not that ugly duckling anymore. You’ve built your own biomedical empire, you’ve escaped your scarred past, and now you are the most independent, most beautiful woman!*
But just as I stood in the center of the banquet hall, Tiffany’s sharp voice blared from the speckers.
“You’ve all been fooled! This woman standing before you is my twin sister! She went abroad, got a new face, and came back to live a life completely estranged from her family!”
The crowd turned, following the sound of the speakers.
At that moment, Tiffany was on stage, gripping the microphone, ani expression on
her face as she looked at me.
“Someone, call security and get this crazy woman to the police station!”
I was furious, but Tiffany looked completely confident.

She slowly unfurled the DNA test report in her hand: “I’m not crazy! I even brought the DNA test report!”
Whispers had already erupted in the crowd,
My palms were sweating.
Just as I felt a wave of panic, a large hand gripped mine.
“Julian?” I asked, surprised.
The man before me, his lips curved into a slight, knowing smile, gestured with his eyes, telling me not to be afraid.
He led me by the hand to the stage, standing next to Tiffany.
“Ms. Miller, do you mind if I borrow the microphone?”
Julian politely raised a finger, pointing to the mic in Tiffany’s hand.
Tiffany visibly shrank under his gaze, intimidated, and obediently handed him the
microphone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I believe everyone here tonight has their own reasons for attending Ms. Audrey Miller’s birthday party.”
Julian paused there, then looked deeply at me.
“Ms. Miller is a rising tech star, returning from abroad, and her company has limitless potential. So, I assume many of you here are business partners who don’t want to miss the opportunity to collaborate with Ms. Miller.”
Some people in the audience nodded. Julian smiled and continued, “As for me, I also
came with a purpose today. My purpose is…”
The man beside me, a head taller, gently wrapped his arm around my shoulder, gazing at
me:
“Audrey, will you consider dating me, with marriage in mind?”
At his words, the entire hall erupted!
The Cheng family wasn’t just the city’s largest real estate group; they also possessed immense capital.
The women pursuing Julian Cheng, the only son of the Cheng family, could wrap around the Earth twice.
Yet he, he had just proposed to me.
