Chapter 7
Ashton’s friends were giving him strange looks and their gazes were traveling downward to the lower half of his body.
While all of that was happening, I was having a candlelit dinner with Craig. I gave him an ultrasound. “Honey, I went to get a check–up today.”
I smiled as I looked at him. The ultrasound showed clearly that I had twins.
Craig was stunned, and he did not recover for a long time. “Is this real? Are you pregnant? They’re my children?”
Craig beamed and immediately celebrated on social media the news that he was going to be a father. I watched Ashton come in, and he turned an angry gaze on us.
I walked toward him, smiling. “Ashton, you’re back. Come and celebrate. Our family will soon be growing!”
He stared fixedly at my stomach. “Blair!”
Before I could speak, Craig spoke up. “Don’t call her by her name! Blair is now your mother!”
Ashton’s expression darkened even more. He looked as if he would swallow me whole. Conversely, I was delighted to see how upset he was.
Ashton did not allow himself to get into a slump.
The next day, he went to the hospital with Jane to get a proper health check–up. However, the result showed that his sperm was of poor quality. If they wanted to have children, they would
have to use IVF.
For a long time, Jane and Ashton were kept busy going to and from the hospital. Jane started to lose her figure because of the medicines and injections she had to take.
Ashton was irritable and short–tempered because he had quit smoking. Despite all their suffering, there was no sign of a baby at all. One day, I was watching a TV show in the living room when I heard the sound of an argument once more.
“If you can’t even get pregnant, then what use are you?”
“I don’t know. Let’s try again-”
“Enough! You’re like a hen who can’t lay any eggs! I have no idea what I ever saw in you!”
Ashton flung her aside and ran downstairs. When he saw me sitting on the sofa, he suddenly walked over. I had taken good care of my face, and the wound was already healed.
“Blair.”

He stood in front of me. “After all this, I realized that you’re still the one I have feelings for.”
I looked expressionlessly at him. “Ashton, you’re crossing the line!”
However, he suddenly crouched down so that his eyes were level with mine. “Blair, you should have been my wife! You would have had my children, and we would have lived happily together.”
My gaze swept over his face.
“Blair, I know that you like me. Let’s leave this place, alright? I’ll treat you well!”
I scoffed. “Do you know why it’s not me this time?”
Ashton’s pupils constricted.
“It’s because I came back, too!”
I looked impassively at his expression. “In our past life, you ran over me and the two children. We died so tragically!
“Didn’t you say that Jane was the one you loved the most? I’m watching you two and how in love you are!”
My lip curled. “I wonder if the two of you will last.”
“It’s impossible!”
Ashton shook his head. “Blair, I was mistaken. I’ll treat you well in the future!”
He rushed over and grabbed my hand, staring sinisterly at my stomach. “Those should be my children!”
He abruptly yanked me to my feet. Suddenly, he was sent flying, and he crashed against the fireplace.
Craig pulled me into his arms. “What did you do to your mother?”
He held my hand anxiously. “Lock him up in a room!”
