A group of bodyguards stormed out of the manor to stop Isabel and Hannah.
“Grab them! I’ll teach them a lesson today!” Mrs. Galvez’s voice thundered, cutting through the tense air like a whip.
Emily watched the scene unfold with glee, her lips curling into a wicked smile. “I knew today would be fun. A brat like her has no manners–she deserves a beating!”
Hannah’s face drained of color as the bodyguards closed in on them. Panic gripped her heart.
“Isabel… What should we do? Mrs. Galvez will make sure we suffer a great deal.” She whispered, her voice trembling.
Isabel’s eyes narrowed, her grip tightening on her mother’s hand. “Is that so? Let’s see who’s going to suffer today.”
With that, she yanked Hannah forward, moving swiftly toward the exit..
“Grab them! Hurry up!” Emily shouted.
The bodyguards rushed toward them, but Isabel didn’t flinch. Her movements were a blur of precision, and with a single swipe, she sent one guard tumbling to the ground.
She used just one hand to knock them down–her other hand still firmly holding her mother’s, not breaking a sweat. With a final swift kick, she sent the last one flying across the room.
The guard crashed at the feet of Mrs. Galvez, sending a shockwave of disbelief through the room. A collective gasp echoed.
Only when the last of the bodyguards lay sprawled on the floor did Isabel stop, her expression as cold as ice. She turned, her gaze sweeping over the stunned crowd, sharp enough to slice through steel.
“Anyone who dares touch my parents–no matter who they are–will regret it,” she declared. “And since you’ve already kicked us out of the family, don’t bother trying to get in touch. We’ll never set foot in this place again.”
Without waiting for a response, Isabel dragged Hannah out, leaving the crowd speechless.
“Isabel, I think we’ve really pissed them off now.” Hannah’s heart raced.
Isabel’s jaw tightened, but her voice remained steady. “Don’t be scared, Mom. From now on, we stand tall. We don’t owe them anything, so we don’t have to grovel.
“And those vegetables you’ve worked so hard to grow–if it comes down to it, I’ll toss them to feed animals before I hand them over to people like that.”
Hannah nodded, feeling an unexpected wave of confidence wash over her. For the first time in ages, she felt like she had her feet under her. This courage came straight from Isabel, and she couldn’t be prouder of her daughter.
She knew she had always been the quiet one, her husband easygoing and passive. As a family, they’d always been the ones to take a step back, never standing their ground. But today, Isabel had shown her what it truly meant to stand tall.
Back at the Galvez’s manor, chaos reigned. Bodyguards groaned on the ground, and overturned tables lay scattered across the floor. Plates and bowls were shattered, the once pristine dining room now a mess of broken china and spilled food.
“This is outrageous! I’ve been here for years, but I’ve never seen anything like this before!” Emily raged, her voice high with
anger.
“Yeah, how barbaric! And she comes from the Clyde family? What kind of upbringing is this? She’s got no class, no manners!

Chapter 18
Nothing like Joanna!” The others agreed.
At that moment, Joanna stood frozen, her usual smug expression wiped away.
A strange feeling gnawed at her. While everyone else condemned Isabel, Joanna couldn’t help but envy her. Isabel had the courage to act on her own terms–something she had never dared to do. No one had ever dared act so boldly in front of Mrs. Galvez.
“Enough!” Mrs. Galvez barked, slamming her cane on the floor, silencing the room. “Someone clean this up, now!”
William stepped forward, steadying Mrs. Galvez with a hand on her shoulder. “Mom, how can you let this go? That girl is so disrespectful–don’t you think she needs to be taught a lesson?”
Mrs. Galvez’s eyes flickered briefly. “I never thought I’d see someone show such spirit. She’s got some guts, at least.”
William, still confused, looked at his mother. Was she… impressed? He wondered.
But then Mrs. Galvez scoffed. “Though she’s been kicked out of the family, she’s still my blood. No one’s allowed to make waves. They need to apologize to me in person.”
Isabel had a presence unlike anyone else. No one else in the family had the same level of assertiveness, and Mrs. Galvez couldn’t help but notice it–even if it riled her up.
She has the spirit, but I can never forgive her for defying me.‘ She thought. ‘Here at the Galvez family, no one can cross me, not even my own blood.

Later, Isabel dropped Hannah off at home. As she was about to leave, her phone rang. It was Chris.
“Boss, just as you suspected, Joseph Wales is indeed in cahoots with Liam Swanson. They’ve been in contact a lot recently.” Chris reported.
“According to my information, Joseph is the brother–in–law of Benjamin Luther, the CEO of Sunpeak Construction. Well, not exactly a brother–in–law–more like the brother of his mistress,” he continued.
“With Benjamin’s connections, he got a small–time manager role on the construction site. He doesn’t know what he’s doing, though. Did he do something to piss you off? What’s your move?”
Isabel’s lips curled into a smirk. “Does Mrs. Luther know about this? I think she should find out.”
“I’ll take care of it, Boss,” replied Chris. “Leave it to me.”
“Also, it’s time to throw out a little bait for Clyde Group,” Isabel instructed. “We need them to cough up some of their gains.”
“Roger that.” Chris answered, then hung up the phone. He knew that anyone who dared mess with Isabel was in for a world of trouble.
Before the day ended, Isabel stopped by the hospital.
Blake was more than happy when he saw her walk in, a wave of relief washed over him. His eyes, once dull, brightened at the sight of her.
He had realized something over the past few days: when she wasn’t around, there was a strange emptiness inside him.
“The nurse said you haven’t taken you pills yet,” Isabel stepped forward, her usual calm demeanor in place. She held up the pills, “Here, take them now. I’ll fetch you some water.”

She handed him the pills and a glass of water. Blake opened his mouth obediently, swallowing the pills with a gulp of water. A drop lingered on the corner of his lips, and Isabel reached for a tissue, delicately wiping it away.
He watched her, mesmerized by her tenderness. She was so close–her skin as flawless as porcelain, her hazel eyes glistening like ambers. Even her lashes seemed to have a life of their own, fluttering like wings.
“By the way, I’ll take you home tomorrow.” Isabel leaned back, lips parting slightly as she spoke again “It’ll be easier for me to keep an eye on your condition.”
“Whatever you say,” Blake replied softly, his voice carrying a note of contentment.
The next day, after finishing her class, Isabel returned to the hospital to take Blake home.
With all the medical devices still attached to him, she couldn’t risk carrying him again like last time, so she called a cap to pick them up.
Alex was already waiting by the door, practically bouncing with excitement to help.
“Don’t sweat it, Isabel. I’ve got Blake covered!” Alex grinned, rolling up his sleeves. Without even breaking a sweat, hẹ scooped Blake up as if he weighed nothing.
“Careful, Alex. He’s still got the stents in,” Isabel warned.
“Relax, I’ve got it!” Alex chuckled, setting Blake down gently on the bed. Blake gave a soft “thank you” under his breath, still a bit dazed.
Alex beamed, puffing out his chest. “Don’t worry about a thing. I’m not working right now, so I’ve got all the time to take care of you. If you’re bored or need a break, just holler. I’ll take you for a walk, no problem!”
Blake smiled faintly, the warmth of family slowly sinking in. For the first time, he felt like he truly belonged.
