Chapter 11

The gunfire stopped after a few more shots. Fuentes family security rushed into the restaurant, quickly surrounding the middle-aged man who had opened fire.

The gun in his hand was aimed straight at Mitch.

A tense standoff took hold.

“Mitch! My brother lost everything-his business, his family-because of your Fuentes family’s downfall. I want you to pay for his life!” the man shouted, eyes blazing with hatred.

“Oh?” Even with a gun pointed at him, Mitch’s handsome face remained calm. He started walking slowly toward the man, completely unbothered.

“A lot of people want me dead. Think you’re the one who can make it happen?”

“D-Don’t come any closer!” The man clearly hadn’t expected him to advance. Panic set in fast. “One more step and I’ll

shoot!”

But Mitch didn’t stop. His stride quickened.

Everyone held their breath, eyes glued to the scene.

As he neared, the man finally lost his nerve and pulled the trigger.

But in the next instant, Mitch’s hand clamped down hard on the man’s wrist. The shot went wide.

“You… you…” the man stammered, eyes wide in disbelief.

In a flash, the gun was out of his hands and in Mitch’s. Now, the barrel was pressed against his temple.

“W-What are you doing?” the man said, voice shaking.

“You pointed a gun at me. Did you really think there wouldn’t be consequences?” Mitch asked, calm as ever. His long fingers slowly squeezed the trigger.

Click.

The gun cocked with a chilling snap.

Gasps rippled through the room.

The man trembled violently, terror written all over his face. “Y-You won’t do it! That would be murder-in front of witnesses! You’d go to jail!”

“Maybe,” Mitch said coldly. “Too bad you won’t be around to find out.”

To him, the man clearly meant nothing-just a bug underfoot.

“Drop the gun!” A woman’s voice suddenly rang out.

At the same time, the cold muzzle of a pistol pressed against the back of Mitch’s head.

For the first time, something flickered in Mitch’s eyes-faint but unmistakable.

No one saw it coming-not even Fuentes family security. Somehow, someone had silently gotten right behind him.

Clarice’s jaw dropped. Her eyes went wide with disbelief.

She thought, ‘My God-when did Aline get over there?

‘And she’s pointing a gun at Mitch’s head? Is she out of her mind?’

Clayton and his buddies stood frozen in shock.

A trace of mockery flashed across Joyce’s eyes. She thought, ‘As expected, Aline is even dumber than I’ve thought. Does she really think this stunt would make her look noble? Offending Mitch would only push Clayton further away.’

“Do you know this man?” Mitch asked lazily, his voice echoing coolly through the restaurant.

“No,” Aline replied flatly.

“Then why are you helping an armed criminal?”

“He committed a crime-let the law deal with him. You’re safe now. He no longer poses a threat. That means you don’t get to decide whether he lives or dies,” Aline said, her expression ice-cold.

“And yet here you are, pointing a gun at my head-trying to decide my fate,” Mitch replied.

Aline pressed her lips into a hard line, saying nothing.

The muzzle in Mitch’s hand edged even closer to the man’s temple. The man was already shaking like a leaf.

“Don’t move!” Aline barked at him.

“I can’t stand people who meddle,” Mitch said. “I thought you were smarter than this, Ms. Moore. Turns out… you’re just another bore.”

The moment Mitch finished speaking, a wave of danger surged through Aline’s body like an electric shock.

She barely had time to react before he suddenly spun toward her, a wave of killing intent crashing down like a tidal

wave.

Instinctively, Aline shifted into a defensive stance-but just then, a squad of police officers stormed in, guns drawn.

“Everybody freeze!” one of them shouted.

Mitch came to an abrupt stop, and Aline exhaled in relief.
