The smell of blood still hung thick in the air.
There was no way I could let this happen–not here, in the middle of a crime scene, with a
man who had just beaten someone half to death.
The rustle of fabric hitting the floor snapped me back to the moment.
In the dim light, Xavier had already stripped off his shirt, revealing his perfectly sculpted body, muscles rippling beneath his skin.
He leaned over me, his hand sliding up my thigh to rest on my waist. His other hand guided mine toward his abdomen, encouraging me to feel the ridges of his abs.

I flinched, barely managing to stop his hand from wandering further.
Xavier seemed surprised by my resistance.
He gazed down at me, a slight frown creasing his forehead, though there was still an air of amusement in his eyes.
Without warning, he pressed his lips to mine, biting down sharply.
My breath caught in my throat, our noses brushing as the tension between us burned like fire.
But the metallic taste of blood in my mouth snapped me out of the daze.
Instinctively, I slapped at his back and bit down on his tongue, hard.
Xavier recoiled, but instead of getting angry, he licked the blood from his lips, his
movements slow and deliberate.
The bright red contrasted sharply against his pale skin, making him look even more
dangerous.
His eyes glinted with a mix of desire and fury, as though he was ready to devour me
whole.
“Lulu, you’re being naughty. Don’t want to be with me? Or have you found someone else?”
I didn’t know whether to nod or shake my head.
Xavier waited for a response, but when none came, his expression shifted from teasing
to cold.
His hand slid up to my throat again, while his other hand moved to the buttons of my
dress.
“Why aren’t you answering, Lucy? Have you found someone else?”
“No,” he continued, his voice dropping into a low growl, “that’s impossible. I’ve thought about you every single day for the last five years. You belong to me. I can’t wait any longer.”

His desperate words sent a shiver of despair through me.
Seeing that I wasn’t resisting anymore, Xavier’s eyes gleamed with excitement, and his fingers began working faster.
“See? You’re finally accepting it. Why did you fight so hard earlier? You even bit my
tongue.”
He leaned in again, about to kiss me, but just as his hand touched my face, he froze.
His entire body stiffened, the hand that had been undoing my dress falling still.
He hesitantly touched the tears on my cheek, his face contorting with confusion,
For a moment, he looked completely lost, like a child who had no idea what was
happening.
“Lulu… you’re crying?” His voice was hoarse, barely above a whisper.
I said nothing, but the quiet sobs filling the room were undeniable.
Panic flashed in his eyes. He quickly scooped up his discarded shirt, draping it over my
half–unbuttoned dress.
With trembling hands, he wiped away my tears, his voice thick with guilt.
“I’m sorry, Lucy, I’m so sorry. I got carried away. I didn’t hurt you, did I? I’m so, so sorry.”
As I looked up at the man before me, who seemed so lost and remorseful, I was reminded of the way he had looked at me five years ago when I told him I was leaving to
study abroad.
He had looked at me the exact same way back then.
Fueled by a sudden surge of anger, I balled my fists and began punching him in the chest, hitting him over and over again, especially targeting the old wound.
“You idiot! You deserve this! I should just beat you senseless!”

I hissed between gritted teeth, biting down hard on his shoulder like a wild animal.
I hit him so hard that when I pulled back, tiny drops of blood began to form on his skin.
But he didn’t flinch or try to defend himself. Instead, he gently stroked my head, comforting me.
“You’re right. Keep hitting me. Maybe it’ll knock some sense into this thick skull of mine.”
Finally, when I was too exhausted to continue, I collapsed onto the bed.
Xavier carefully pulled the blanket over me, sitting quietly by the bedside.
