Chapter 10
Standing in the kitchen earlier, Lorraine had placed everything together All the clues pointed unmistakably to Eugena – Stephen’s dise be connected to him in some way.
She had no tricks left to play and no time for games. Being straightforward would be better for everyone involved.
Eugene’s expression turned to ice in an instant, and the air in the room seemed to grow colder with it
His intense stare caught Lorraine’s breath in her throat. Just as she was about to look away, he spoke in a low, men tone, “Sit down first. Then we’ll talk
Lorraine sprang to her feet, feeling goosebumps rise on her skin under the weight of his game. There was something overwhelming about Eugene m his silent presence carried a dangerous edge.
She took a hurried step forward. “Where is he-“Her question was cut short when Eugene moved with terrifying speed, flipping their position until she lay trapped beneath him
Lorraine’s pulse raced as his rough hand slid across her skin. She shoved against his chest, her breath coming in short gasps. “Don’t,” the managed voice cracking. “Just… just tell me what you want. No more games.”
A brief flash of awareness appeared in Eugene’s eyes, yet his hands continued their exploration. “Are you really that desperate to find him?” he murmured, his hot breath brushing against the sensitive skin of her neck.
The question almost made her laugh. “Of course, I’m desperate. Isn’t that what any normal wife would feel?” she thought.
Lorraine gave a tight nod. If there had been any other way, she wouldn’t be here begging him. But desperate times called for desperate measures.
Eugene studied her in silence, his gaze intense and impenetrable. When he finally spoke, his voice was low, deliberate. “Why should I tell you anything?”
Lorraine froze as he lowered his head again, his actions leaving no room for misunderstanding or refusal.
The aftermath left Lorraine motionless, her breath coming in shallow wisps. Her muscles ached, her limbs heavy as lead. A hazy exhaustion clouded her vision, leaving her completely drained.
Eugene grabbed a shirt to cover her before moving to the desk. Even now, the memory of her soft, pliant body lingered, overwhelming his senses.
The two documents sat undisturbed where he’d left them. He tumed them over and set a pen on top. “Get up and sign these,” he said evenly.
sponse came, he turned with a frown and reached down to pull her up. “Sign these and you’ll-”
When no response came,
His words suddenly caught in his throat when he felt the feverish heat of her skin beneath his grip.
Eugene gave her shoulders a gentle shake. “Lorraine?!”
Lorraine lay limp and unresponsive as Eugene shifted her, her body slack like a ragdoll.
With a frown, he bent down, gathered her into his arms,
, and carried her out of the villa without hesitation.
Lorenzo Eaton, Eugene’s friend and one of the Hospital’s youngest and most skilled doctors, was called away from the ER and want to the Ultra–VIP suite on the top floor.
Still wearing his white coat, he walked in briskly, then stopped short when he saw Eugene. “Are you in any pain?” Lorenzo asked instinctively.
“Not me. Her,” Eugene said, stepping back.

“Just chock her already, Eugene said, impatience sharpening his tone.
Lorenzo had rarely seen Eugene sa impatient–especially with a friend. Knowing better than to delay, he quickly checked Lorraine’s temperature.
“Almost 104 degrees. What was she doing before she passed out?” Lorenzo asked, keeping his tone casual.
Eugene shoved his hands into his pockets and stayed quiet for a beat. “Why all the questions?” he finally muttered, turning away with an odd look on his
face.
Lorenzo caught the shift in his demeanor. He cleared his throat. “I need to know what happened before so I can treat her property.”
