Chapter 9
I accepted Theodore’s proposal.
So I also returned to the path I should have taken ten years ago.
Theodore helped me find the strongest legal team to handle my divorce from Ryan.
Ryan only knew that some mysterious powerful figure was helping me, but he had no idea who it was. He was completely outmaneuvered and had no choice but to agree to the divorce.
Until Theodore’s engagement ceremony.
Ryan was among those invited.
He entered the venue with Coral and immediately spotted me.
He couldn’t accept that after ten years, I was still the person Theodore was getting engaged to.
Ryan grabbed my wrist and dragged me to an emergency exit.
“What the hell is going on, Claire Reed? Have you been having an affair with Theodore Beaumont all
along? Have you been cheating on me all these years, you slut?!”
After saying this, he tried to drag me away, not even caring about Coral anymore.
I forcefully shook off his hand and glanced at the resentful woman standing nearby, then sneered:
“Ryan, haven’t you been cheating on me all these years too? What right do you have to question me?”
Ryan furrowed his brow.
“I’m a man!”
“So what if you’re a man?”
I stared at him coldly, my voice ominous.
“Does being a man mean you can be unfaithful in marriage? That you can keep up appearances at
home while having affairs outside? Ryan Morgan, I never realized what a disgusting, despicable

person you are. I must have been blind.”
Ryan barely contained his anger and lowered his voice:
“Stop this nonsense, Claire. Didn’t I say I would help you pay? Why were you so stubborn?”
I couldn’t help but laugh, then demanded sharply:
“The price of my submission was walking away with nothing, being trampled like garbage, and
having to apologize to your mistress. Why should I, Ryan? Keep dreaming!”
Ryan’s face darkened, the veins in his neck bulging with anger.
I couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and turned to leave.
But he refused to let me go, still gripping my hand tightly.
“Was it Theodore Beaumont who forced me to divorce you? Our divorce doesn’t count. I’ll go to court
and have it invalidated. You need to come home with me right now!”
I struggled desperately but couldn’t break free.
At that moment, several security guards rushed over and separated us.
Ryan was terrified–he clearly recognized the leader as the person who had nearly beaten him to
death overseas.
“So it’s true, Claire. Theodore was the one who saved you that day, wasn’t he? You’ve been in contact
all along?!”
“You bitch, I’ll kill you!”
With that, he lunged to hit me but was kicked away again.
The sound of breaking bones filled the air as he howled in pain.
I gave him an indifferent glance before turning and walking back to the reception hall.
Under everyone’s gaze, I walked step by step toward Theodore and placed my hand in his.
Then we turned together to face all the guests.

“Thank you all for attending my engagement ceremony with Theodore Beaumont. For everything that happened before–who was involved, who helped–I will get to the bottom of it all.”
The venue fell completely silent.
People lowered their heads one by one.
Theodore bent down to kiss my forehead, then looked at Ryan, who had dragged his pain–wracked body back into the hall and was staring at me with bloodshot eyes.
‘From today forward, Claire is my fiancée. Anyone who is her enemy is also an enemy of the Beaumont Group!”
Ryan stared at me blankly.
And too late, a flash of pain crossed his eyes.
