He didn’t know why she refused to see him, or why her family would lie to him.
But it didn’t matter. He could wait.
He believed that if he just kept waiting, she would eventually relent.
He waited outside Elara’s family estate day after day.
The weather was bitterly cold. Even with the car’s heater on full blast, it couldn’t dispel the chill in
his heart.
Just when he thought he was about to be completely buried by the heavy snow.
Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared before him again.
“Elara!”
Light erupted in Dax’s eyes. He rushed into the snow and pulled the person tightly into his embrace.
He trembled as he spoke: “Elara, I finally found you!”
“Do you know how much I’ve missed you these past few months? I thought I was going insane, I
く
ring
thought you were truly dead. Thank goodness, thank goodness you’re alright.”
He had so much to say, but in the end, he could only repeat her name.
But the “Elara” in his arms looked at him in confusion and asked in fluent German,
“Sir, who are you?”
Dax looked at the identical face before him, his face filled with panic: “Elara, it’s me, Dax. Your
husband.”
The young girl had no patience for his explanations. She pushed Dax away and said angrily in German, “Are you crazy? Hugging people and yelling random names!”
Just then, the estate’s butler hurried out and respectfully bowed to the girl.
“Miss, you’re back?”
The girl looked at the butler with displeasure: “What are you doing? Letting lunatics like this in? You scared me, you know that?!”
The butler’s expression changed. He quickly shielded the girl behind him and looked sternly at Dax.
“Mr. Lu, please leave now, or we will call the police!”
But Dax seemed not to hear him. He frantically tried to grab the girl behind the butler.
“Elara, it’s me! Do you really not recognize me?”
The girl was about to explode, but the butler sighed:
“Sir, you’ve mistaken her. She is not Ms. Elara. She is the lady of the house’s niece, Ms. Alina, who has lived in Germany for many years!”
This sentence hit Dax like a heavy hammer to the head.
“You… what did you say?”
The butler looked at his distraught face and sighed deeply.
“Ms. Alina and Ms. Elara are cousins. They are often mistaken for each other because they look so
)
much alike.”
“As for that flight ticket you found, Ms. Elara asked Ms. Alina, who happened to be returning home, to register it using her identity information.”
“Even if you are too sad about losing Ms. Elara, please do not harass us any longer.”
What greeted Dax was a sharp slap across the face. Alina, enraged, pointed at his nose and cursed.
“Lunatic! If you can’t tell people apart, go see a doctor! Don’t harass me here!”
“Butler, what are you waiting for? Get someone to throw him out!”
As she finished speaking, a group of bodyguards rushed out to escort Dax away.
Dax struggled desperately, his eyes filled with unwillingness.
“Elara! Elara!”
