Jennifer was still unaware of all this.
The decision to hold the wedding back home was Mr. Hall’s suggestion. Though Mr. Hall had settled abroad, the Hall family elders remained back home. Thinking the elderly Hall couple hadn’t seen their grandson in years, and consid- ering most friends were also back home, they ultimately chose a domestic venue.
Planning the wedding proved exhausting and time-consuming. With the rushed timeline, they needed to handle count- less tasks daily. Juggling endless errands left her overwhelmed, with no mood to dwell on anything else-Kevin com- pletely slipped her mind.
Yet she never imagined that while she forgot about Kevin, Kevin hadn’t forgotten about her. He even showed up right before her eyes.
Jennifer felt mentally exhausted once again being cornered at the restroom entrance.
She’d simply gone out alone this time without Kyle, and he’d taken advantage of the opportunity. It seemed she could- n’t venture out solo anymore during her stay in Boston unless absolutely necessary.
“What is it?” Jennifer broke the silence after a moment.
Kevin didn’t answer, just stared at her like she was some long-lost treasure. His gaze was so unabashedly intense that she frowned.
As she opened her mouth to speak, he raised his hand.
The next instant, everything went black as she lost consciousness completely.
Jennifer woke to find herself in an instantly recognizable room.
Drowsily sitting up, she instinctively reached for her phone only to grasp empty air. Before she could ponder this, a knock echoed at the door.
She remained silent, offering no response, yet the visitor seemed to expect none. The door swung open regardless.
Seeing Kevin there, she wasn’t surprised at all.
“Jennifer, how about some food?”
Not mentioning her earlier silence, he simply offered a warm smile as he set the meal on the nearby table. “Figured you’d be awake by now. Must be hungry after so long without eating, so I brought something.”
Jennifer studied Kevin for a moment, genuinely surprised he’d handle such details. His thoughtful gesture carried a surprisingly effective touch.

She felt genuinely hungry and didn’t keep arguing with him, simply taking the knife and fork to eat.
Seemingly surprised by her cooperation, Kevin froze momentarily when she began eating without protest, then chuckled, “Seems Jennifer’s adapting quickly. Worth gathering your old belongings to restore this room exactly as you kept it.”
At this, Jennifer paused.
Her eyes swept across the familiar furnishings, suddenly realizing this was her very room from three years ago.
A strange feeling surged in her chest. After a heavy silence, she finally met Kevin’s gaze and asked,
“Why?”
Why do all this? Why bring her here? And why painstakingly recreate this room?
Kevin remained seated at a spot neither too close nor too far, a faint smile lingering on his lips.
Hearing her question, he instinctively pressed his lips together.
After a long pause, he pulled out the ever-present ring box from his coat.
“Because I love you, Jennifer. I can’t just watch you walk away.” He slid the ring toward her, his voice soft and calm yet carrying undeniable affection.
“Jennifer, please don’t marry him. During my darkest days, you were the only one who stood by me without hesita- tion, urging me to pull through. I thought I could live without you-until you left. That’s when I realized I can’t lose
you.
So Jennifer… don’t leave me. Don’t abandon me…”
By the end, unease and anxiety had crept across his face.
Jennifer never imagined she’d see Kevin with that expression again, but hearing his words, she subtly furrowed her brows.
Love? What kind of belated affection was this?
In Jennifer’s understanding, true feelings couldn’t be hidden. Even if someone didn’t recognize their own emotions at the time, their subconscious would instinctively protect and shield the one they cherished.
