Chapter 3 Your Home Belongs to Me Now
Chris‘ voice was low and seductive. “Dear Rachel, I’ve been accumulating power since you went up the mountain ten years ago. I have all the Lawrence family’s secrets now. We don’t have to fear Keira anymore. Come on, let me kiss
you.
“Consider it my reward for making her father seriously ill, and for deliberately making her break her bones in that mudslide, dear Rachel.”
Sounds of desire mixed with panting drifted out. The glass door reflected the silhouettes of two people. Chris knelt on the floor, letting Rachel step on his chest. Rachel wore my high heels as she trampled him, while he obsessively licked her legs.

Rachel’s slap rang out crisp and clear, “When you slept with Keira, were you this pathetic too?”
Chris didn’t hesitate. “My body and soul belong only to you, Rachel. She certainly enjoyed the man I found for her
back then.”
I stood at the doorway feeling like I’d fallen into an ice cave. So my father, who had always supported him, was also secretly harmed by him.
Things between them grew more intense. I burst through the door amid their shocked cries and smashed everything I could get my hands on.
Rachel screamed and sat aside with an ashen face. After a brief moment of shock, Chris calmly buttoned up his shirt. The sound of his belt accompanied his steady voice as it reached my ears. “What are you making a fuss about now, Keira? Your temper has gotten worse since you got pregnant.
“Alright, don’t hurt your hands. I was just putting shoes on Rachel. I didn’t do anything else.”
Chris picked up the slender high heel I’d thrown and half–knelt to put it on me. “Wearing high heels while pregnant- you’re being ridiculous again.
“Go home.” He smiled at me as if nothing had happened.
“This is my home.” I turned my anger into a smile, my fingertips digging into my palms.
Chris wrapped his suit jacket around Rachel and lifted her with one arm while carrying her shoes with the other hand. His calm gaze fell on me. “I’ve always disliked this aggressive side of you. I thought you’d changed these past few days, but I’m very disappointed in you. Come find me when you’ve thought things through.”
The sound of the door closing wasn’t loud, but it felt like a slap in the face.
Ten years–he’d made me compromise for ten years this way.
Always so calm, making me look like a crazy woman who loved but couldn’t have him.

I collapsed to the floor, letting the falling water soak my black dress as I sobbed uncontrollably.
The next morning, news reached me that the house next door was purchased at five times the market price. As soon as I opened my door, I ran straight into Rachel.
Chris wasn’t around. She sneered at me provocatively. “Keira, Chris, and I have been together for over twenty years. You can’t compare to me. He won’t even touch you–what do you have to compete with me?
“Once your father dies, your family will be history. You’ll end up as nothing more than entertainment for others. It’s time I became the lady of the house!”
The elevator stopped. Rachel slapped me across the face, meeting Chris‘ surprised gaze as she said, “I don’t blame you for forcing me up the mountain to suffer for ten years, but you can’t call Chris your servant!”
Chris‘ expression darkened. He threw breakfast at the doorway and carefully tended to Rachel’s hand. “Does it hurt, Rachel? I’ll make her pay for this.”

Leaving Chris‘ comforting words to Rachel behind me in the wind, I’d just arrived at the company when I saw an am- bulance. My mother was breathing with difficulty, but the moment she saw me, she grabbed my dress with fury in her eyes. “You gave the project to outsiders. How could the Lawrence family produce a daughter like you?”
All the blame and accusations fell on me. The hospital called–my father, who had always doted on me, woke up this morning and upon hearing that the company had lost a multi–billion dollar project, was rushed back into the emergen- cy room.
When Rachel swaggered into my office, I was being attacked by shareholders. She cleared off my desk and sat on it, swinging her legs. “This place is mine now. I should thank you–if you hadn’t come to me to be slapped, he couldn’t have bankrupted the Lawrence family so quickly.”
Rachel grabbed my chin. “You got pregnant and sold company secrets just to make Chris marry you. Your subordi- nates are really pitiful. Go home and rest during your pregnancy–your happy life has begun.”
She leaned close to my ear and whispered, “This is the price you pay for looking down on me. Your home? You won’t have a home anymore.”
Just because I came to my own home and caught them in their affair, Chris was going to destroy my family complete- ly.
