I thought for sure I was going to die this time.
Actually, if I were to die, it might not be so bad. At least I wouldn’t have to suffer in this world anymore.

But when I woke up, I found myself in a place I’d never seen before.
It was a run–down rural area, and the house I stayed in was relatively clean and tidy.
My whole body was wrapped in bandages, and the smell of ointment was strong. It seemed that the medicine had already been applied.
I was still alive.
After a while, a police officer named Felix Kennedy came into the house with a lunchbox. When he saw me sitting up, he rushed over and asked if I was feeling any better.
“Great! You’re finally conscious. This is a safe house set up by our police. As long as you stay here, no one can find or disturb you. Now, can you tell me the whole story?” he said.
I was really surprised. “How did you bring me here?”
Felix told me, “I was on patrol with my colleague and passed by your house. We heard your screams. When we broke the door

open, we saw you lying on the floor, covered in blood from the beating. Your dad’s been taken to the police station. We’ll get you justice.”
He was furious. “If we hadn’t rushed you to the hospital in time, you would have died!”
I thanked him, thinking maybe fate still wanted me to keep living.
Felix stared at me in disbelief. “It seems like your father’s been abusing you more than once. Actually, you could have sought help or called the police.”
I couldn’t help but sneer, “In fact, I’ve been seeking help all the time, but even when I called the police, my dad blocked it.
“Everyone around me testified for my dad that he hadn’t hurt me. They said it was all my fault.”
At first, I complained to my relatives. But as soon as they went into the study with Arthur, they would turn ferocious and hate me, even wishing I were dead.
It was the same with all my ex–boyfriends and Freya.
After those men broke up with me, I even cried and tried to win them back, but they were extremely cold and told me to never contact them again.
Even when I tried to run away, it was no use. Arthur would catch me and beat me half to death.

That day, I told Felix about all the painful experiences of my life.
He cried along with me, getting, so caught up in my pain that he even clenched his fists in anger for me.
Felix reassured me, “It’s okay. No one will bully you again. I’ll protect you.”
He told me that he’d take me home later to collect evidence and make sure Arthur went to jail and couldn’t harm others for the rest of his life.
Soon, Felix sent someone to take me home.
However, it wasn’t to collect evidence. He wanted me to go home and live there.
The police officer in charge of taking me home, Ellis Scott, was also very confused.
He said, “I wasn’t at the scene. But according to what other colleagues said, after Felix took your dad home that day, he was furious and got into an argument with him.
“Felix angrily asked your dad why he abused his daughter like that, but your dad wouldn’t come clean and just smiled menacingly. Then, when Felix was so mad he punched the wall, your dad suddenly ran off. He hid in a bedroom, and Felix followed him in.”
I knew Felix had gone into the study.
