Chapter 6

Just like everyone else, when Felix came out of the study that day, his expression was blank and dazed, and he seemed completely stunned.
The other officers were waiting for him to give orders, but he just smiled and walked over, personally untying the ropes around Arthur.
He smiled, “There’s been a misunderstanding these past few days. I just found out that Arabella had a car accident not long ago. All her injuries were from that, not from you.”
Arthur went home safely.
It was totally within my expectations. I was no longer shocked by things like this.
I then asked Ellis to take me away quickly because I didn’t want to stay in that house.
Even though he didn’t know what was going on, he chose to respect my decision.
I secretly rented a house outside and didn’t tell any relatives or friends. I started living the life I wanted.
Half a year later, I was shopping at the convenience store downstairs when I ran into Felix.

He looked at me with an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry. I promised you, but I didn’t keep my word.”
I shook my head and smiled, “It’s okay, I know you did your best,”
In this world, no one could come out of Arthur’s study normally. I knew Felix couldn’t control himself either.
We talked a lot. He said Arthur had been looking for me all this time and asked me to be careful. Otherwise, if Arthur caught me. I’d surely go through something terrible again.
I nodded and thanked Felix.
But the scary thing was, after I left the convenience store, Arthur and Matilda were standing across the road, staring at me.
Fear surged inside me. I ran away, my heart pounding fast.
After running a long way, I quickly turned into an alley. But soon, I ran right into a man’s arms.
I took a closer look, and it was Arthur!
A shiver ran down my spine, and I was too scared by his fierce look to say a word.
He dragged me back home then.
All I remembered was that I cried for a long time that day. No matter how much I begged, they wouldn’t untie the ropes

Emily sat next to me, munching on snacks and gloating, laughing that I’d actually dared to run away, which was simply courting death.
Just then, my bedroom door was pushed open. Arthur rushed in, followed by a doctor.
The doctor looked familiar. He had a worried expression and kind eyes. He took a few steps toward me, and his gentle demeanor seemed to have a soothing magic.
When he saw me, he frowned. “Her condition’s getting worse. I suggest you take her to the hospital for treatment. It’s not a good idea to delay it.”
I was so surprised that I kicked and struggled.
“Let me go! I’m not sick. Are you trying to take me to the hospital to abuse me? Dad, if you don’t like me, just kill me. Why are you doing this to me?” I shouted.
The beating I had expected didn’t come. To my surprise, Arthur’s eyes turned red. He sat next to me and hugged me tightly.
Matilda also came in, sniffling and wiping away tears, looking very sad.
She said, “Honey, you misunderstood your dad. From the start, he’s always loved you. You’re our family. How could we abuse 3/4

I glared at them with bloodshot eyes. “Then tell me. What’s the secret in my dad’s study? Why do all the men leave me after seeing it? Did you put some kind of spell on them?”
I went crazy and bit Arthur’s arm. He winced in pain but didn’t make a sound.
