Matilda was so scared that her face turned pale, and she hurriedly tried to calm me down.

She said, “Good girl, let go of your dad. If you want to see the study, we’ll take you there again.”
I was stunned.
Again? What’s the meaning?
I’d never been in the study before.
Before I could figure it out, Arthur and Matilda led me into the study.
It was the first time I could remember entering it, yet I had a strange sense of familiarity. It was as if I’d been in here many times before, and the furnishings and layout seemed like something I’d arranged myself.
Matilda sniffled and turned on the projector. A shocking and eerie scene appeared on the screen, and I gasped in horror.
It was a surveillance video taken in my room.
The man lying asleep on the bed was my first boyfriend, Dylan
Thomson.
He was sound asleep in his dreams while I, with a twisted,

excited, and greedy expression, raised a cleaver and brought it down hard on his head.
I screamed in terror and closed my eyes, too scared to look any further. My heart was in my throat, and it felt like it was about to jump out.
Matilda, tears in her eyes, turned off the video. She walked up to me and rolled up her sleeve, then rolled up Arthur’s, Emily’s, and David’s sleeves. Their arms were covered in bite marks, some deep and some shallow, which were shocking.
My heart skipped a beat. “What’s going on?”
Matilda sighed, “Actually, you were married. Dylan was your first boyfriend. When you brought him home excitedly, your dad and I agreed to your marriage.
“After you got married, you came back to stay at our place one time. That night, you suddenly sleepwalked and went to the kitchen, then grabbed a cleaver and said you wanted to cut a watermelon. Then, what you just saw happened.
“Dylan was seriously injured and almost died. Your dad and I spent all our money to compensate his family, so they didn’t pursue the matter further. But we noticed your behavior was getting stranger. You started talking nonsense and even had hallucinations, always saying we hit and scolded you. We took you to the doctor, and you got better after a long period of
treatment.”
But I couldn’t recall any of the things Matilda was talking about. 2/4

She told me that after divorcing Dylan, I had four more boyfriends.

They all promised to love and protect me. But when it came to getting married, Arthur would honestly tell them about my schizophrenia.
As soon as those men heard I was sick and might even hurt others, they all ran away.
All those grand vows of love became so insignificant in the face of illness.
Arthur and Matilda didn’t want me to feel left out if I stayed in the hospital, so they took me home with my medication to take care of me.
At first, I took medicine on time, and my condition was well–controlled.
But one night, I flushed my medicine down the toilet. After that, I went completely crazy. I started having wild fantasies, thinking people were trying to harm me and that they were all bad people.
The injuries on my family’s arms were from when I tried to run away and bit them as they caught me.
They weren’t capturing me to abuse me. They just wanted me to get proper treatment and live a normal, happy life.
