I grabbed his face and turned it toward me. Seeing his tear–streaked, red–tipped nose made my heart melt.
“You don’t want me anymore,” he mumbled.
He sounded so wronged, but I felt just as wronged!
“You’re the one who didn’t want me first. You wouldn’t even let me touch you!”
I pouted and squinted hard, trying to force out some tears.
It seemed to work. He lowered his head, clearly conflicted.
I kept up the act and huffed. “If you don’t love me anymore and won’t let me touch you, then fine. Let’s just end things and go our separate ways.”
I stood up like I meant to leave, and just as expected, he grabbed my hand.

Seven months later, Kaelen’s belly had grown huge.

“Go on and sleep in your room! Stop hogging my wife,‘

The boy sighed and muttered as he walked off, “How childish, a grown man like you, still wanting to be babied.”
I nearly fell off the bed in shock.
Once the kids left, I leaned on Kaelen’s shoulder and asked softly, “You gave up your chance at immortality for me. Don’t you regret it?”
He lifted my hand and kissed the back of it.
“For you, I’d do it all over again.”
