Chapter 4
Sophia’s whole body was swollen as if she had been blistered, and her wide skirt could not hide the abnormal bulge in her belly.
A middle-aged woman dressed in gold and silver, her nails almost poked Sophia’s nose.
“You shameless little whore! You want to blackmail my family with an Illegitimate Child? How blind must my son be to fall for someone like you!”
Sophia protected her belly and cried, “Auntie, I didn’t…”
“Bullshit, you dare to say that you don’t have the Illegitimate Child in your stomach?”
Another fashionably dressed young woman gave her a shove.
Sophia staggered a few steps and almost fell.
“I am Richard Kingsley’s fiancée! Who do you think you are? How can you be pregnant with his child if you are a bus that anyone can take on a cruise ship?”
“Oh my god, is she really pregnant? I haven’t seen her for three months, why is her belly so big?”
“Who knows which rich guy this belongs to? It’s the Century Challenge Gala, the cruise party. The father is unknown!”
“How shameless! They’ll do anything for money.”
Sophia was scolded so badly that she had no power to fight back. She could only hold her stomach and cry helplessly.
Just then, Sophia saw me standing on the periphery.
“It’s her!” Sophia’s voice was so sharp that it almost pierced my eardrums. She raised her hand tremblingly and pointed it straight at me. “She is the one who went on the cruise ship. It has nothing to do with me!”
In an instant, all eyes were on me.
It just so happened that I rented a house off campus for the past three months to recuperate and did not show up in public. Many people looked at me with suspicion.
Richard’s fiancée crossed her arms and walked up to me in high heels. “Oh? Another one? You were the one who seduced my fiancé on the cruise ship?”
I ignored her and walked forward step by step.
Sophia pretended to be wronged and cried even harder, “Emily, I know Daniel has a crush on me so you’re jealous of me, but you can’t hurt me like this! It’s obviously you who’s on the cruise ship, and you’re the one who’s pregnant, how can you let me take the blame for you?”
I laughed: “Sophia, putting the blame on me is the best solution you can think of right
now?”
“Your belly doesn’t look like you’re not pregnant, does it? Do you dare to go to the hospital for a check-up?”
Sophia’s eyes flashed with guilt, and then she seemed to have taken a reassurance pill: “Then do you dare to go to the hospital for a check-up?”
Looking at her confident look, I smiled, took out my cell phone, and clicked on the pictures that had been prepared in the album.
Yes, that was my post-operative diagnosis certificate, clearly displayed for everyone to
see.
“I had the surgery three months ago, and I will never be able to get pregnant again in this lifetime.”
“I have only been recuperating for the past three months. The school has records of my leave requests, and the rental house also has surveillance of my daily life.”
“So, the person on the cruise ship couldn’t be me.”
After Sophia saw the certificate, her eyes suddenly widened and she yelled, “Are you fucking sick? You actually had a sterilization operation!”
I took back my phone and looked at her calmly, “Do I need to report to you about what I do? Who do you think you are?”
“You…” Sophia lost all color, her lips trembled, and she couldn’t utter a word.
“Pfft.” A suppressed sneer broke the deadlock. It was Richard’s fiancée.
She crossed her arms, as if she had just watched a very funny monkey show, and slowly walked back to Sophia, looking down at her.
“I am dying of laughter. You wanted to find someone to take the blame, but you ended up finding someone who can’t have children. It seems that you, the person on the cruise ship, have a lot of water in your brain.”
