Chapter 104
Chapter 104
Liana called out, “Byron, come here. We need to talk.”
Byron had just heard from Zack’s phone that Sylvia was with Zander, putting him in a foul mood, when he heard Liana calling from downstais
Byron walked downstairs, his face set in a cold, unreadable mask.
Liana sat on the couch, looking worried. “Byron, your dad just called from overseas. The international situation is shaky, and our overseas branch is struggling. They need capable executives from headquarters to step in and help,” she said.
The Blair Group had a global reach, with Byron’s dad, Rogelio Blair, working overseas for years. But lately, as he got older, he was finding it tougher to handle the unstable global situation.
Byron sat on the couch, hands clasped and brows furrowed. After a moment of thought, he said firmly, “I’ll go myself.”
Liana gasped, “Byron, if you go abroad, who’ll manage the headquarters here?”
Over the years, the Blair Group grew to its current size in the domestic market thanks to Byron’s strategic smarts and tough leadership, which also landed him on the Forbes World’s Billionaires List.
Byron’s gaze was resolute. “I’ll I have Dad return to oversee the domestic operations.”
Byron could’ve easily sent someone else to handle overseas affairs. But with everything piling up lately, he thought maybe some time abroad would help take his mind off Sylvia, at least for a while.
Just thinking about Sylvia made Byron’s blood boil. One minute she was with Zander, the next her old flame showed up. Yet when it came to him, she avoided him like the plague.
Liana nodded and then hesitated before saying, “Byron, you should still discuss this with your grandfather. And what about Zack? Will he stay here or go with you?”
“I’ll take him with me,” Byron said in a deep voice. “It’s time he saw more of the world. After all, he’ll be taking over the family business someday.”
Liana said no more. She was clueless about business but had to admit Byron had a point. After all, all her friends had sent their grandchildren overseas
to study at a young age.
Liana went out to play cards. Meanwhile, Byron headed to the Blair family estate, ready to discuss his overseas, plans with Edward.
Zack had been eavesdropping upstairs. The moment he realized everyone had left, his big eyes darted around, and he dashed downstairs, hopped into the car, and headed straight for Sylvia’s place.
Just as Sylvía had seen Zander off at the door and was turning back to the living room, Zack came rushing out of the car, his face streaked with tears. He cried desperately, “Mom, something terrible happened. Dad’s taking me overseas.”
Tears streaming down his face, Zack clung desperately to Sylvia’s leg and cried, “Mom, what am I going to do? If I go overseas, I’ll never see you again.”
Sylvia was stunned. She grabbed Zack’s hand and pulled him into the living room, demanding urgently, “Zack, what’s going on? Tell me everything.”
Between sobs, Zack managed to tell Sylvia what he had heard.
Sylvia’s expression darkened. She thought, ‘I don’t want Byron to take Zack overseas. He’s still so young. What if he picks up bad habits there?
‘Why is Byron so insistent on going abroad? The Blair Group’s headquarters is right here. Shouldn’t he be here overseeing operations?
‘Could it be because of me?‘
Sylvia suddenly had this bizarre thought.

Chapter 104
“Mom, I don’t want Zack to go overseas,” Ruby cried out when she overheard their conversation, rushing over and throwing herself against Zack as tears streamed down her face.
Zack tried to comfort Ruby but soon found himself crying along with her.
Sylvia sighed and gently stroked both children’s heads, “Don’t worry. I promise I won’t let your dad go overseas.”
Sylvia thought for a moment, turned to Zack, and gently asked, “Zack, where’s your dad now?”
Zack scratched his head and said, “I didn’t really hear clearly. Maybe he went to the office, or maybe to Grandpa’s place.”
Leaving the two kids at home, Sylvia decided to head straight to the Blair Group. She needed to have a serious talk with Byron.
All the way there, she kept telling herself, ‘Byron’s such a stubborn guy. There’s no point in confronting him head–on. I just need to find a way to coax him into staying here.’
When it rained, it poured.
Before Sylvia even reached the Blair Group, her phone rang.
“Sylvia, where are you now? I’d like to see you.” Dillan’s voice came through the phone, dripping with feigned tenderness.
Yesterday, Dillan went to the Blair residence but failed to bring Sylvia out with him.
He couldn’t accept that Sylvia felt nothing for him. In fact, he was sure Byron was the real problem. Sylvia just didn’t leave with him because she was too intimidated by Byron.
So this time, he was determined to meet Sylvia alone.
Sylvia’s brows knitted slightly as she asked, “Where exactly are you?”
Dillan quickly gave an address. Sylvia agreed to meet him right away. To him, that was a clear sign she still had feelings for him.
Dillan had given the address of a commercial building downtown, where he was waiting for Sylvia on the fifth floor.
Joanna also knew about Dillan’s call to Sylvia.
She had even pushed Dillan to make this call to Sylvia.
Joanna had always suspected something was off between Dillan and Sylvia. So the moment Dillan contacted Sylvia, she wasted no time in calling Byron.
Joanna said nervously, “Byron, I just heard Dillan wants to meet Sylvia. He seems so sketchy. I’m really worried. What if Sylvia gets hurt?”
Byron had just left Edward’s place and was on his way back to the office when the call came through. The moment he answered, his face darkened.
Upon learning where Dillan was meeting Sylvia, Byron immediately ordered his driver to head there.
Byron fumed inwardly, ‘She’s meeting one guy after another. Doesn’t she ever get exhausted?‘
At this thought, Byron’s irritation flared up, and he roughly yanked at his tie.
Then it struck him that he had no damn reason to go. After all, he’d already decided to relocate to the overseas branch.
‘Out of sight, out of mind. That’s how I should deal with her,’ Byron thought to himself.
Despite telling himself this, Byron still snapped at the driver, “Step on it.”
The fifth floor of the commercial building ahead was still unfinished, just bare concrete walls and floors, with no sign of any renovation.

Chapter 104
Sylvia stepped inside.
Dillan was waiting inside. He’d dressed to the nines in a sharp suit, every hair perfectly in place.
“Sylvia, you’re finally here.” Dillan’s face lit up when he saw Sylvia. He walked over eagerly and gestured around. “Check out this prime downtown spot. want to lease it for you. We could even move part of your overseas business here. I’ll handle all the details for you.”
