Chapter 107
Dillan was eager to find a renovation company so he could pocket some commission. After all, Sylvia was loaded. She’d never notice a small amount missing.
But he had scoured every corner of Silverton, visiting all the renovation companies big and small, only to be turned away at every door,
“Sylvia, did you piss someone off or something?” Dillan complained over the phone, clearly baffled. “Every time I mention your renovation project, they just show me the door without even hearing me out.”
After hearing Dillan’s explanation, Sylvia quickly pieced together what was happening.
She thought, ‘It had to be Byron’s doing. Only Byron has that kind of power!
Just thinking about Byron made Sylvia’s head ache. She couldn’t let him mess up her plans, so she immediately left the film set and drove to the Blair
Group.
She took the elevator up to the executive floor and knocked on the door of Byron’s office.
“Come in.” Byron’s deep voice called from within.
Sylvia pushed the door open and found Byron buried in paperwork. Sensing her presence, he looked up abruptly. When their eyes locked, a chill ran down her spine.
His handsome face tensed up. Without a word, he deliberately looked back at the paperwork, making it clear he was ignoring Sylvia.
Sylvia couldn’t help but roll her eyes. It was so obvious that he was totally sulking.
Normally, she’d be thrilled. Honestly, she’d rather he just ignored her forever so they could each live their own lives and never bother each other again.
But now, she had no choice but to break the silence.
“Byron…” Sylvia started.
Before she could finish, Byron abruptly snatched up the desk phone and roared into the receiver, “Who put together this new energy project proposal? Redo it immediately. If you still can’t get it right, don’t bother coming back.”
Sylvia’s words were cut short, her expression darkening with irritation. He was pretending to scold his subordinates, but he was really taking it out on
her.
Byron’s gaze was cold as he stared at the document. He couldn’t tell if it was the disappointing contents or thoughts of Sylvia and Dillan, but irritation was building inside him. Almost unconsciously, he tugged at his tie.
“Byron,” Sylvia began hesitantly, “we need to talk…”
No sooner had Sylvia started speaking than Byron icily picked up the phone again, clearly venting his frustration with her on his subordinates.
“Stop making calls.” Sylvia saw right through Byron’s little act. He was deliberately giving her the cold shoulder.
She strode over and abruptly cut off Byron’s call.
Byron’s icy gaze shot up. “Sylvia, you’re getting damn bold. What the hell are you trying to pull?”
Fury surged through him as he abruptly rose from his chair.
‘This damn woman! She promised me just yesterday, and now she’s already changed her mind and gone to meet Dillan. Is she seriously messing with me?‘ Byron thought.

Sylvia hesitated slightly and then walked around the desk. Placing her hands on Byron’s shoulders, she gently but firmly guided him back into his chair
“Things between Dillan and me aren’t what you think,” she said. “I’m just using him to lease the shop and handle the renovations. So he ends up running around in circles for nothing.”
Byron scoffed inwardly, ‘Did she really think I’d buy that?
‘Does she really take me for some naive child she can just pacify with a few words?‘
Byron’s expression remained icy, but as he listened to her explanation, he found his anger fading away somehow.
“I know exactly what Dillan is like. Don’t worry. I won’t fall for him,” Sylvia patiently explained it all over again.
Byron was clearly furious just moments ago, but after Sylvia explained herself several times, his anger melted away surprisingly fast. Before he knew it, he was picking up the phone to make a call.
“Have a few renovation companies reach out to Dillan immediately and get the specified shop renovated to his exact requirements as soon as possible, said Byron.
Seeing Byron hang up the phone, Sylvia flashed a satisfied smile and rose from behind the desk, ready to leave.
Byron’s expression darkened instantly. “Sylvia, you’re leaving?”
Another wave of fury hit him. Sylvia was so damn calculating. She’d used him the whole time and now couldn’t wait to leave.
Sylvia walked back to Byron and ran her fingers through his slightly disheveled short hair. She said softly, “Let me finish up here first, okay? I’ll come find you later. I’ve got things to handle right now.”
Joanna was just about to enter the office when she witnessed the scene. Her face froze in utter shock.
She thought, ‘How dare Sylvia treat Byron like this? Is she really coaxing the ‘Tyrant‘ like he’s just a little kid?
‘Byron has total control over everyone’s fate. Who wouldn’t be intimidated by him?‘
Sure enough, Byron’s expression darkened, but the moment he felt Sylvia’s soft hand, his heart pounded wildly. Without thinking, he abruptly pulled her
into his arms.
He growled in a low voice, “Sylvia, don’t you dare lie to me again, or I won’t hold back.”
Sylvia continued to soothe him, gently stroking his cold cheek. “Got it. Just relax and don’t overthink things. If anything comes up, I’ll let you know.”
Byron’s cheeks flushed slightly. Before he even realized it, he nodded. “Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
After soothing Byron, Sylvia hurried out of the office, only to notice Joanna standing at the door.
Sylvia shot Joanna a cold, dismissive look and then strode straight past her without a word.
Her plan was underway. If Joanna still didn’t know when to back off, she’d end up getting played right along with Dillan.
Joanna walked into the office with a pout and said, “Byron, if Sylvia and Dillan are that close, why does she keep clinging to you like this?”
Byron looked up, his gaze cold. “Stay out of my business with Sylvia.”
Joanna’s eyes filled with tears as she cried out indignantly, “But I’m scared you’re being fooled. Sylvia clearly only cares about Dillan. She’s probably going to see him again.”
Byron snapped impatiently, “So what if she’s seeing Dillan? What’s it to you?”
Joanna couldn’t believe her ears, wondering, ‘Since when did Byron become so tolerant?

Chapter 107
‘Could Byron still not believe what’s going on between Sylvia and Dillan? Dillan needs to step up his game and win Sylvia over quickly. That’s the only way Byron will finally give up.‘
After leaving the Blair Group, Sylvia headed straight for the office building Dillan had just leased.
On the fifth floor, she ran into Dillan.
Dillan declared smugly, “Sylvia, I’ve got the renovation all sorted out. I found a top–tier contracting firm that can finish everything in just one week. But they need a 1.6 million–dollar deposit upfront.”
Sylvia picked up her phone, faking a money transfer to Dillan. She paused, pretending to remember something. “Oh, I’m so forgetful! I closed big deals and my funds are tied up. Could you cover the cost? I’ll pay you back in a few days.”
Dillan’s eyes widened in shock. ‘Is Sylvia playing me? What if I handle everything and she stiffs me when it’s time to pay?‘ he thought.
