Chapter 108
“Are you fooling me, Sylvia? You still owe me 650 thousand dollars in rent, and now you want me to cough up another 1.6 million dollars? Do you think money grows on trees?” Dillan suddenly flared up.
Sylvia frowned in displeasure, “Dillan, after all these years, do you still not get me? Haven’t I always treated you well? You should know how I feel about you. Hearing you say that really hurts.”
Dilian’s heart skipped a beat.
Over the years, his success in building his own company wasn’t just due to his own abilities. Sylvia’s help also played a significant role.
Seeing Sylvia’s unhappy look and deep disappointment, he began to waver.
“Sylvia, don’t take what I said earlier to heart. I know you’ve always had feelings for me. I’ll find a way to come up with 1.6 million dollars for the deposit,”
he said.
When Sylvia saw him step right into her trap, a glint of satisfaction flickered in her eyes.
She turned to leave, but Dillan immediately called out to stop her.
Dillan looked at Sylvia and said, “Once the company is running, I want to be the chairman and run the business. I just need your quiet support. If you can’t agree, then I guess you won’t see me around anymore.”
This was Dillan’s way of testing Sylvia, probing just how much he meant to her.
“Sure thing.” Sylvia nodded without hesitation and then smiled, “Honestly, I was planning to have you run the company from the start. It’ll save me a lot
of hassle.”
Dillan secretly rejoiced. ‘Looks like I was right. Sylvia still can’t get over me,‘ he thought.
Convinced he was about to become the company’s chairman, Dillan couldn’t help but eagerly share his visions for its future with Sylvia.
Sylvia said confidently, “I’m going to establish a film production company here and sign some A–list celebrities. Their projects will generate massive revenue streams for us.”
The more Sylvia described, the more excited Dillan became. He knew that top actors‘ film contracts these days could easily run into tens of millions, and their company would take a juicy cut from every deal.
Dillan said, “Alright, you can go. I’ll take it from here.”
Dillan had already started seeing this venture as his own. His phone buzzed just now. It was a call from Joanna He discreetly urged Sylvia to leave, not wanting to answer it in her presence.
Sylvia couldn’t be bothered to waste another second there. She headed downstairs and drove straight back to the film set.
As soon as Joanna reached the upper floor, she frowned at Dillan and demanded, “Mr. Sheppard, what on earth is going on between you and Sylvia? And why did she go to see Byron again today?”
Dillan waved his hand nonchalantly. “Sylvia went to see Byron. She was probably just asking about setting up the company here. Don’t worry. I’ve had Sylvia wrapped around my finger for a time.”
Hearing his words, Joanna felt slightly relieved,
Dillan’s gaze lingered hungrily on Joanna’s stunning figure. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head, and he cooed affectionately, “Joanna, Sylvia is planning to open a film studio here. I’m going to be the chairman.”
Joanna’s head snapped up in disbelief. “Sylvia actually made you chairman?”

“Of course,” Dillan boasted. “Her overseas success? It’s because I’ve been supporting her behind the scenes all these years, Making me chairman Bare le just the start. I’ll have a stake in all her other businesses too.”
Joanna was utterly stunned. Then her eyes sparkled with wild excitement.
She never expected Sylvia and Dillan to be this close. Sylvia just handed him the chairman’s position like it was nothing.
If Joanna had known Dillan was footing the bill for all the rent and renovations here, she would’ve thought twice about their relationship.
“Joanna, have you thought about signing with our agency? You’re a pretty famous actress, after all.” Dillan looked at Joanna, his eyes filled with admiration.
Dillan thought, ‘Joanna is a much better catch than Sylvia. At least Joanna is still single, while Sylvia has a kid.
‘If I could end up with Joanna, that would be so much better than being with Sylvia.
Joanna gave a wry smile. “I’m sorry, Mr. Sheppard, but my contract hasn’t expired yet.”
“What if you joined our company as VP?” Dillan pressed eagerly.
Joanna’s eyes sparkled with interest. “Mr. Sheppard, you’re not messing with me, are you? Because if you’re serious, I might just take you up on that.”
Dillan laughed heartily and thumped his chest in assurance. “On the day our company officially opens, I’ll announce you as our new VP.”
Joanna grew excited, her tone turning noticeably warmer. “Thanks so much, Dillan!”
Dillan felt a jolt from Joanna’s seductive gaze, his desire growing. But thinking of the 1.6 million dollars he still owed for renovations quickly brought him back to reality.
“Joanna, I’ve got something I need to take care of,” he said and then left the commercial building. It would be hard to raise 1.6 million dollars all at once through online loans, but then an idea struck him.
First, he had to mortgage his company.
But he soon hit a snag. Mortgaging the company proved far more difficult than he’d expected. Even though his company was clearly worth 1.6 million dollars, the lender was only willing to offer 650 thousand dollars against it.
Left with no other choice, Dillan had to call Sylvia again.
Hearing that Dillan was planning to mortgage his company, Sylvia couldn’t help but sneer.
She thought, ‘Everything Dillan has came from me in the first place. Now that he and Joanna are plotting against me, I’ll make sure his company gets mortgaged smoothly.‘
-Sylvia asked, “Which bank are you planning to mortgage your company with? I might be able to pull some strings for you.”
“It’s called Golden Summit Bank,” he replied.
Sylvia’s eyes flickered. “Is the owner of that bank named Chace?” she asked.
Dillion said, “Sylvia, how did you know that? I’m actually at their bank right now. The boss’s name really i
Pearson.”
Sylvia paused briefly and then said, “Just tell them you know someone named Master Cameron, and that Master Cameron sent you to see him.”
Sylvia knew Chace Pearson because, back when he was setting up Golden Summit Bank and needed to raise capital, she was the one who helped him
out.
The name Sylvia had used back then was Master Cameron.

Dillan thought, ‘Master Cameron? Who the hell is this guy?
‘Is Sylvia just pulling my leg?
‘She thinks making up some random name will impress the famous bank president?‘
Because Dillan wanted to mortgage his company for 1.6 million dollars, a sum well beyond the account manager’s authority to approve, the bank had to call in their president, Chace.
Chace, a refined man in his forties, reviewed Dillan’s documents and said plainly, “Mr. Sheppard, the maximum i can offer you for this loan is 550 thousand dollars.”
The figure was way off from what Dillan had expected. After a brief hesitation, he tested the waters. “Mr. Pearson, do you happen to know Master Cameron?”
‘If Sylvia’s lying to me, I’ll go back and settle the score. She’d better pay me back every damn cent she owes me, thought Dillan.
The moment Dillan finished speaking, Chace’s expression changed instantly, a flicker of excitement crossing his face. “Mr. Sheppard, you know Master Cameron?”
