Byron’s expression grew increasingly stormy

Just moments ago, the two little ones were all over him, calling him Daddy sweetly. Now, they both scurried over to Sylvia’s side

Byron thought, It seems their affection for me comes with strings attached. They only cozy up

to me when Sylvia’s not around

He felt a twinge of jealousy

Seeing that Byron had refused to rent the conference center, Sylvia turned to Zack and Ruby with a gentle smile and said, I’ll take you both to school today.”

Yay, Mommy!Zack and Ruby chimed in unison

Byron’s expression tightened as he watched the two little ones skipping after Sylvia toward the elevator, inwardly grumbling, These little traitors. They just left without even saying goodbye!‘

Come with me to my office,Byron said coldly, striding toward the elevator and pressing the up button

Sylvia flashed a faint smile and said, Byron, you could’ve just said that earlier, couldn’t you? Everything can be worked out if we just talk, right?”

With that, Sylvia gestured to the kids and said gently, Since your daddy brought you here, why don’t you go spend some time with him?”

The two little ones obediently scampered over to Byron’s side, calling him Daddy sweetly

Their voices always brightened Byron’s mood, but realizing it was all because of Sylvia left him feeling uncomfortable

Upon reaching the top floor, Byron told Chase to take Zack and Ruby to the play area, while he personally escorted Sylvia to his office

Byron entered the office, his voice cold. No way am I lending you the conference center. But I can let you use a meeting room at one of the shopping malls under the Blair Group.”

This was the only compromise he could think of. If Sylvia wanted it for herself, he wouldn’t have minded. But her coming to him for another man was

nonnegotiable

Sylvia could immediately read Byron’s displeasure. It was clearly because of Dillan. Her own tone turned slightly sharp as well

Byron, I’ve told you before. When I help Dillan, it’s never really about him,she said

Sylvia knew Byron needed gentle persuasion, not pressure. She gently touched his face and said, Don’t overthink it. Dillan’s day will come. You’ll see.”

Her move did the trick again

Byron felt the soft warmth of Sylvia’s palm against his face. His cheeks instantly flushed, and his heart raced uncontrollably

Here she goes again with that old trick! I’m not some gullible kid. Does she really think I’ll fall for it?he thought

Fine, have it your way, but I’m not cutting you any slack on the rent. Not a penny less!Byron had meant to refuse but changed his mind at th

second

Sylvia hesitated for a moment before saying, About the rent, can we hold off for a couple of days? I need to get the money from Dillan first.”

Sylvia had already conned Dillan out of quite a bit of money lately. If she wanted to keep fleecing him, she would have to come up with a new plan

Byron’s anger flared. He snapped, Sylvia, this is going too far! You’re borrowing the conference center for Dillan and you don’t even want to pay for it? Do you really take me for an idiot?”

Chapter 114

Sylvia’s tone turned sharp. Byron, what exactly do you mean by that? You’re in such a rush to get the money. Don’t tell me you expect me to pay for Dillan. Why should I?”

Hearing her words, Byron gradually softened his cold expression. A silent confirmation that Dillan meant nothing to Sylvía

After pondering, he casually sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, and said, Let’s forget about the rent for now. I’m free tonight. How about we grab dinner together?”

Sure thing,” Sylvia replied instantly, her tone bright and decisive

Byron’s heart secretly swelled with joy. He unconsciously clenched his fists and shifted his posture slightly

But before Byron could really savor his happiness, Sylvia cut in, Sorry, I can’t make it tonight. I have to be on set. Rain check?”

Byron’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing sharply

She turned down every one of his requests. And now she expects to just waltz in and take the conference center for free. He was not that easy to manipulate

Just as he was about to erupt in anger, Sylvia softly made him a cup of coffee, set it on his desk, and took a seat across from him, meeting his gaze with

quiet composure

Byron suddenly recalled those years he was married to Sylvia. Every day, after finishing the housework, she would sit quietly at the table, waiting for him, just as she was doing now

Every time he came home, Sylvia would quietly hand him a steaming cup of coffee

But back then, he never appreciated everything she did for him. To him, she was just someone who took care of the chores, almost like the hired help

But now that she left him, she was like a dazzling star, finally radiating her own brilliance

It finally dawned on him. She had dimmed her brilliance and willingly embraced the role of a housewife for his sake, while he had taken it all for granted

Now, he finally seemed to feel a real pang of regret

When do you need the conference center?he asked, his tone softening as he reluctantly conceded

In a week,Sylvia said

Just then, Chase walked in with documents for Byron to sign. Catching their conversation, he interjected, Mr. Blair, don’t forget you have the international business conference scheduled for next week.”

Byron nodded and then turned to Sylvia with a pointed look. You heard that, right?”

-Sylvia paused for a moment. Then she said, Alright, let’s postpone it for a few days.”

She frowned, wondering if Dillan would even agree to postpone for a few days

But after all, Dillan was utterly clueless. The Blair Group’s Skyline Convention Center was internationally renowned

Sometimes, people had to book it up to six months in advance

He actually thought he could just book it easily

But it wasn’t time to break with Dillan yet. She wanted him and Joanna to fall into her traps one by one

Byron caught the fleeting frown on Sylvia’s face and instinctively turned to Chase beside him. Did you hear her? Push back the conference center arrangements by a few days.”

Chapter 114

Chase nodded quickly and looked at Sylvia. Ms. Sullivan, would it be acceptable to postpone it for two days?”

Before Sylvia could respond, Byron’s expression darkened. He snapped, I said, push back our international business conference

Chase’s eyes widened in alarm. Mr. Blair, the business conference has been set in stone for weeks. Wouldn’t rescheduling it cause complications

Byron narrowed his eyes and said coldly, If they have any objections, they’re no longer welcome at our future business conferences

Chase was stunned. Byron was actually willing to burn bridges with those global business leaders, all for Sylvia’s sake

But Byron had more than enough clout. Even if he postponed the meeting by a month instead of just two days, those global business tycoons would still be eagerly waiting for his conference

Sylvia’s lips curved in a faint, satisfied smile. At least he knows what’s good for him,she thought

Just then, her phone rang. It was Angel calling

Angel said anxiously, Sylvia, it’s urgent! There’s trouble on set!”
