Chapter 119
Sylvia said with a hint of irritation, “Hayden, would you stop haggling with me? Just sell the Aquamarine Star to Dillan. We’ll talk about the rest later
Hayden usually wouldn’t argue with Sylvia, but now his attractive face flushed crimson. He said firmly, “Sylvia, if you refuse the Aquamarine Star, then t can’t agree to your request.”
Sylvia let out a resigned sigh, thinking to herself, ‘This Aquamarine Star is a treasure worth millions. Why would anyone plead with someone to take it?
“Fine, I’ll take it. Happy now?” Sylvia finally gave in.
Hayden’s face flushed even deeper. the Aquamarine Star symbolized his feelings for Sylvia. It meant she would accept his affection. The very thought sent his pulse racing.
Hayden walked back into the living room and saw Dillan still admiring the Aquamarine Star. His face resumed its usual indifference as he glanced at Dillan and said, “Mr. Sheppard, since you seem so fond of it, I suppose I can part with it and let it go to you.”
Dillan turned around excitedly and said, “Mr. Stone, thank you so much. How much are you asking for it?”
Hayden produced the auction certificate. One glance, and Dillan’s eyes widened in disbelief. The document clearly stated a price of ten million euros.
He hesitated for a moment before saying sheepishly, “Mr. Stone, most of my funds are tied up in investments right now. Would you consider… adjusting the price a little?”
Hayden’s face darkened. ‘the Aquamarine Star once belonged to the French royal family. Its market value is more than double what he’s offering. How dare he still complain it’s too expensive?‘ he thought to himself.
Just as Hayden was about to lose his temper, Sylvia, sitting nearby, gave a soft cough.
He suppressed his anger, constantly reassuring himself in his mind, “Everything is for Sylvia. I can’t make her mad.”
“Then what do you think is a fair price?” Hayden asked, his tone deliberately softened.
Dillan felt that Hayden had already given him considerable face. But then it hit him that the real issue wasn’t the price. He just couldn’t afford it.
He’d already sold off nearly everything he owned to help Sylvia launch her film production company. If she didn’t pay him back soon, he’d be flat broke.
That thought made him eye Sylvia a few more times.
“Is she scamming me?” he wondered anxiously.
Seeing Dillan at a loss for words, Sylvia spoke up from the side. “Hayden, why don’t you just let him write an IQU first? He can pay you back in a few
months.”
Dillan’s face fell instantly, flushed with visible embarrassment.
Hayden had spent ten million euros on the Aquamarine Star. There’s no way he would let someone take it on an IOU.
“Alright, we’ll do it Sylvia’s way,” Hayden agreed.
Dillan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Did Hayden actually take Sylvia’s advice?” he thought. “Man, Hayden’s way more patient than I expected.”
Sylvia quickly grabbed some paper and a pen for the signature, then deliberately placed them on the coffee table before Dillan.
Dillan hesitated briefly, carefully re–examined the auction report for the Aquamarine Star, and even searched online to verify its authenticity. Only then did he readily sign the IOU.
Hayden Stone glanced at the signed IOU, then casually slid the velvet case containing the Aquamarine Star across the table toward Dillan. “It’s yours

now,” he said.
“Mr. Stone, since that’s settled, I’ll be leaving. I’ve got something urgent to handle.” Dillan, buzzing with excitement, quickly found an excuse and
couldn’t wait to leave.
Since Sylvia had driven him here earlier, he shot her a meaningful glance, hoping she’d give him a ride back.

it’s just a temporary possession,” Sylvia thought. Hayden Stone was no fool. He’d definitely make a more
“No way am I getting dragged into this mess,” she told herself.
Seeing that Sylvia hadn’t caught his hint, Dillan didn’t bother to explain further and hurriedly left Hayden’s place.
Hayden watched Dillan leave, his lips curling into a cold smirk. He picked up his phone and made a call.
“Lock down all nearby roads. No taxis allowed within three kilometers,” he ordered sharply.
Within moments, not a single taxi could be seen within a three–kilometer radius.
Dillan hurried down the street, frantically checking his ride–hailing app, but not a single driver was accepting his request.
Muttering to himself, he quickened his pace. With the Aquamarine Star, valued at ten million euros, cradled in his arms, he couldn’t shake off the fear that something might go wrong along the way, so he walked faster and faster.
But even after wearing himself out running, he still couldn’t get a ride.
Gasping for breath, Dillan slumped onto the roadside curb. He wiped the sweat from his damp hair, then pulled out his phone and quickly started a video call with Joanna.
“Joanna, check out what I got for you.” Dillan held the box up to the camera, flipped it open, and revealed the dazzling necklace inside. “It’s the Aquamarine Star.”
On the other end of the video call, Joanna’s eyes widened in delight as she saw this.
“Wow, Dillan, I can’t believe Hayden actually sold the Aquamarine Star to you.”
Dillan said with a smug grin, “Of course. Hayden and I have good rapport. He wouldn’t refuse me this favor.”
Joanna’s father stood nearby, watching the scene unfold and nodding approvingly.
He genuinely admired his daughter’s friend, who was well–connected and boasted a solid online presence. Investing in his ventures seemed like a sound decision.
Joanna was video–calling Dillan when suddenly the screen jolted, followed by his piercing scream.
“Dillan, what’s wrong?” Joanna cried out anxiously,
Dillan barely had time to react before a sharp pain exploded at the back of his head. His vision went black as he cra heavily to the ground.
His first thought was that he was being robbed. Instinctively, he clutched the Aquamarine Star box tightly to his chest and struggled to look back.
Sure enough, three or four men had already surrounded him, raining blows on him without hesitation.
The world spun, and Dillan blacked out.
“Mr. Stone, your item,” said a man in a suit as he pried the Aquamarine Star box from Dillan’s death grip and respectfully presented it to the Hummer

waiting at the curb.
The rear window of the Hummer slid down, unveiling Hayden’s icy, chiseled features.
With his well–defined fingers, he held a disinfecting wipe and casually cleaned the box containing the Aquamarine Star.
“Go back.”
As the thought of Sylvia still being at his place crossed his mind, a faint smirk tugged at Hayden’s lips.
After all, she had promised to accept the Aquamarine Star.
He returned home in high spirits, only to find the living room completely empty.
“Where’s Sylvia?” Hayden asked the servant, his voice edged with concern.
“Miss Sullivan just took a call and rushed off. She seemed to have a dinner date with some man,” the servant answered nervously.
“Some man?” Hayden’s face darkened instantly. “Who is he?” he demanded sharply.
‘Whoever he is,‘ Hayden thought coldly, ‘any man who dares to take Sylvia from me is dead meat.‘
