Chapter 124
Charlie instantly recognized that Dillan was impersonating Master Cameron, yet surprisingly refrained from exposing him on the spot.
He recalled Sylvia’s warning that if he wanted his condition treated, he’d better watch his words and actions.
He’d dealt with Sylvia overseas before and gotten burned more than once. ‘She’s not someone I want to cross, he thought. ‘If I say the wrong thing now, I’ll end up in hot water with her.’
He couldn’t care less about business conflicts. He could always steer clear of them. But his illness now was a serious matter.
‘But what if Sylvia could actually cure me?‘ Charlie wondered.
“Dillan, you must know my old friend Charlie, right?” Martin said jovially, his eyes glinting with subtle probing
Dillan hesitated, then shook his head and said, “I… I don’t really remember.”
Martin’s expression darkened.
They had some serious beef overseas. How could he possibly not recognize him? Martin wondered.
Martin couldn’t help but glance at Charlie, his suspicion growing. ‘Is Dillan really Master Cameron?‘ he wondered.
Instead of answering immediately, Charlie clutched his stomach and groaned, “Martin, did you pass that stomach bug to me? You were just complaining about it, and now I’m feeling it too.”
Clutching his stomach in feigned agony, he hurried out of the ward.
‘Damn that ‘watch your words and actions‘ advice‘ Charlie thought bitterly.
He needed to get the full story from Sylvia before doing anything else.
Sylvia had told him to meet her in the president’s office.
Charlie stormed into the president’s office, glaring at Sylvia on the sofa. “Sylvia, that guy in the ward is a total fraud. What do you want me to say?” he snapped.
Sylvia was alone in the office, uncertain whether Charlie would actually show up.
But as it turned out her gamble had paid off.
No one would ever neglect their own health, least of all someone like Charlie, a man of his stature.
Sylvia crossed her legs with effortless grace, tilted her chin up, and gestured for Charlie to come over. “Mr. Burke, come here. Let me take your pulse before we discuss anything else,” she said.
Hesitantly, Charlie walked over to the nearby sofa, sat down, and held out his wrist.
After carefully taking his pulse, Sylvia looked up and said, “Mr. Burke, you’ve had heart disease for over twenty years. Lately, have you been feeling chest tightness and pressure, perhaps even struggling to breathe?
And your liver condition is also very serious. If you keep delaying treatment, the liver disease alone could be the death
Charlie broke out in a cold sweat. Sylvia had nailed every single one of his symptoms.
“Then what should I do, Sylvia?” Charlie asked, his voice laced with urgency.
u.”
Sylvia smiled, got up, and walked behind her desk. “I’ll prescribe a formula for you,” she said. “Try it out first. If all goes well, stick with it for a month or

two and you should see significant improvement in your health.”
Charlie eyed her with suspicion. “Are you serious? I’ve consulted plenty of doctors, and every one of them said my condition was incurable.”
Sylvia’s hand paused over the prescription pad. She said coolly, “If you don’t trust me, the door is right there.”
Hearing Sylvia say that, Charlie suddenly started to panic.
“Sylvia, cut the scare tactics! If you can really cure me, let’s call it even. I will owe you one.”
Without looking up from her prescription, Sylvia asked casually, “The decoction will take a while to prepare. First, tell me why Martin sent you here? Was it to verify if Dillan is actually Master Cameron?”
Charlie gritted his teeth. “Yeah, that’s about right.”
Sylvia said firmly, “Go tell Martin that Dillan is indeed Master Cameron.”
“Fine, I’ll go tell him now.” Charlie turned toward the door but paused to look back. “Sylvia, this medicine of yours better work. Otherwise, I won’t hesitate to tell Martin the truth.”
He had no idea what kind of game Sylvia was playing, but he was sure she was up to no good and plotting against Martin.
Sylvia waved him off impatiently, scribbled out the prescription, and went to prepare the decoction herself.
At that moment, Dillan was drenched in cold sweat in the hospital room. He couldn’t believe that Charlie Burke, who had just left, actually knew Master
Cameron, and the two of them were sworn enemies.
Dillan’s mind raced. ‘Doesn’t that mean my cover as Master Cameron is about to be blown?‘
Martin and Joanna fixed their gaze on Dillan, now realizing they’d been duped by him. “Thank goodness we didn’t invest in him,” they thought. “Otherwise, we’d be left penniless.”
Charlie strode into the ward, instantly slipping into character. Dramatically, he declared, “Master Cameron! What a coincidence running into you here. Looks like even the heavens know about our feud and decided to give me this chance to settle the score!”
Martin paused, then turned to ask, “Is he really Master Cameron?”
Charlie nodded firmly. “Absolutely. He’s crossed me countless times in business. How could I ever mistake my own nemesis?”
Joanna frowned in confusion. “Wait a minute, Mr. Burke. Didn’t Dillan just say he didn’t know you?”
Charlie’s mind raced. He explained coldly, “It’s perfectly normál he doesn’t recognize me. He’s made enemies all over the business world. I’m just one of
many.
And since he’s paranoid about revenge, he’s become an expert at hiding his tracks. Truth is, very few people besides me actually know what he really looks like.”
Martin kept nodding in agreement. ‘Charlie’s explanation made perfect sense. It seemed there was no mistake. Dillan truly was the legendary Master Cameron.‘ thought Martin.
Dillan was utterly baffled. It was almost as if fate itself had intervened. Ever since he started impersonating Master Cameron, everything had been going suspiciously smoothly. He even caught himself thinking, ‘Am I really Master Cameron now?‘
Little did he know that Sylvia had orchestrated everything behind the scenes, using him, a small fry, as bait to hook the real big fish, the Moore family.
Just as Dillan was basking in his triumph, Charlie suddenly delivered a vicious slap across his face, sending stars exploding across his vision.
Dillan clutched his stinging cheek, his temper flaring. “What was that for?” he snapped.

Charlie struck Dillan to keep up appearances. “You bet I’m hitting you! Did you forget how you screwed me overseas?”
Seeing this, Martin became even more convinced. He quickly pulled Charlie aside and said, “Charlie, you and my young friend here were strangers before, but now you’re acquainted.
Why not bury the hatchet? Wouldn’t it be better for all of us to work together and make some money?”
“Who wants to make peace with him?” Charlie snorted disdainfully, yanked his hand free from Martin, and stormed out of the ward with a face like thunder.
He quickened his pace and soon entered the president’s office.
By then, Sylvia had finished preparing the decoction.
“Listen here, Sylvia,” Charlie said, eyeing the steaming bowl of medicine she handed him, his nose wrinkling at the bitter smell. “You’d better not be trying to poison me with this stuff.”
“Charlie, if you’re not going to drink, then forget it,” Sylvia said coldly.
With that, she made as if to dump the decoction down the drain.
Seeing this, Charlie hastily snatched the bowl, pinched his nose, and downed the bitter medicine in one gulp.
The next instant, an unprecedented wave of relief washed over Charlie’s entire body. He couldn’t help but lift his head in astonishment…
