Chapter 125
Charlie looked at her in disbelief and asked, “Sylvia, can you really treat illnesses?”
Charlie’s face lit up with astonishment. “How could a young woman in her twenties possibly know anything about medicine?” he wondered.
Even though Sylvia had accurately described all his symptoms earlier, he still couldn’t help but feel skeptical.
Yet the moment he swallowed the medicine Sylvia gave him, an unprecedented wave of relief instantly coursed through his entire body, and the tightness in his chest noticeably eased.
“Mr. Burke, please take this prescription as directed for a while,” Sylvia said as she handed the slip to Charlie.
“Come back later so I can take your pulse and make any necessary adjustments. I’m confident we can get your health back on track.”
Although Charlie had always heard about the wonders of traditional medicine, he had never encountered a truly skilled practitioner until now.
At that moment, all his doubts vanished. With trembling hands, he accepted the prescription, completely convinced.
Charlie clutched the prescription like it was his lifeline. Remembering all the years of pain, his eyes grew moist and his voice trembled. “Sylvia, from today on, let bygones be bygones between us. I owe you one. If you ever need anything, just call me anytime.”
Charlie helped Sylvia deceive Martin without a shred of guilt.
He and Martin were never true friends. Their relationship was purely transactional. Those who claimed to be his friends were probably the ones most eager to see him fall.
But Sylvia was different. She had given him a second lease on life. He would never forget this debt of gratitude. It was permanently etched in his heart.
Martin and Joanna were still in Dillan’s ward. Since Charlie had earlier confirmed that Dillan was Master Cameron, they now trusted him completely.
“Dillan, Joanna mentioned you’ve been having some cash flow issues lately?” Martin asked with an amiable smile from his chair.
Dillan’s face instantly lit up with pleasant surprise. “Yes, Mr. Moore, that’s right. I’ve made several diversified investments lately, and now I’m facing a bit of a cash flow crunch.”
Martin let out a hearty laugh. “That’s no big deal. With your abilities, money is just a short–term issue. Don’t worry. I’ve got your back now.”
Martin pulled his checkbook from his breast pocket, looked up, and asked warmly, “So, how much more funding are you still short on lately?”
Dillan hesitated for a moment before gesturing a number. Most of his recent funds had gone into Sylvia’s company. He figured seven million would give him some breathing room.
Martin saw this, and his eyebrows knitted slightly. But then, remembering that Dillan was Master Cameron, his face broke into a smile again. “Seventy million? No big deal!”
With that, Martin quickly scribbled down a figure on the check and handed it to Dillan.
Dillan stared at the number on the check, stunned. I’ve never seen so much money in my life,‘ he thought, his heart racing with excitement.
Dillan said, “Mr. Moore, I’ll write you an IOU right now. I’ll pay you back with interest at the bank’s rate.”
Martin lit a cigar, crossed his legs, and said meaningfully to Dillan, “You and our Joanna are such good friends. How could I possibly charge you interest? Consider it my investment in you.”
Dillan couldn’t believe how much Martin trusted him. Instinctively, he glanced at Joanna, who was still quietly smiling by his side. In that moment, he felt closer to her than ever before, his heart pounding and his cheeks growing warm.

Martin couldn’t care less about the interest. What he truly had his eyes on were much greater business interests.
Martin thought to himself, “Investing in Dillan is bound to pay off. This money will just keep snowballing into something much bigger.”
After all, Dillan was none other than the legendary Master Cameron. Every investment he touched turned to gold, and he’d never lost a dime.
“Dillan, this is my dad’s heartfelt gesture. Please don’t turn it down,” Joanna said softly from the side. Like her father, she was certain this investment
was the right move.
Dillan nodded firmly. “Joanna, Mr. Moore, since you trust me so much, I’d be honored to accept.”
With that, he wrote Martin a signed receipt, signifying his acceptance of the investment.
All thanks to Sylvia’s soon–to–open film company, he was brimming with confidence about his career.
He thought to himself, ‘With Sylvia’s extensive industry connections, it’s only a matter of time before her company turns a profit.”
Dillan thought to himself, “Sylvia promised to make me the chairman and put me fully in charge of running the company. It won’t be long before the profits start rolling in.”
Dillan was discharged from the hospital that same day. Without delay, he drove straight to the fifth floor of an office tower.
He had arrived at Sylvia’s soon–to–open company, where the interior renovation was already nearing completion.
Sylvia was inspecting the renovation progress in one of the offices. The space had been neatly divided into individual workstations, each boasting a sleek, contemporary design.
Dillan hurried into the office. “Sylvia, about the money I fronted for you, can you pay me back now?”
Oh, right, Dillan, perfect timing. I was just about to tell you we need to purchase office equipment now, and we still have the remaining renovation costs
to pay.
Dillan froze for a moment. “Wait, what do you mean? You’re not seriously expecting me to pay again, are you?”
Sylvia let out a wry laugh. “Yeah, all my money’s stuck in the stock market right now. Just give it a little time. Once my positions unwind, it’ll multiply several times. Could you cover for me in the meantime?”
Dillan eyed Sylvia suspiciously and tentatively asked, “Sylvia, you’re not just feeding me empty promises, are you?”
Sylvia’s face instantly darkened as she shot him a cold look. “If that’s what you think, then fine. Forget it, Let’s just put this on hold. We’ll talk about it later.”
With that, Sylvia turned on her heel and strode out of the office.
Dillan tensed up and rushed after her. “Sylvia, we really can’t put this off any longer. I’ll cover the costs for now. Just pay me back when you can.”
Dillan still needed Sylvia’s film company to generate profits for him. If the delays dragged on indefinitely, it would disrupt his cash flow, and he’d have a hard time accounting for it to Joanna and Martin.
Dillan promptly settled the remaining renovation costs in one lump sum and purchased all the necessary office equipment for the company, spending about four million dollars in total.
Seeing Dillan spending so generously, Sylvia immediately understood. The Moores must have invested in him. Dillan and had fallen right into the trap she had meticulously set for them, step by step.
were finally financially bound to
A cold glint flashed in Sylvia’s eyes. All the suffering she’d endured was Joanna’s doing. Now, her retaliation was about to begin.
“Dillan, let’s go get the business license for the company this afternoon,” Sylvia said, tossing him a slip with the company’s bank account details. “Wire thirty million dollars into this account as registered capital. That’ll also serve as our startup funds.”

Dillan frowned. “Does a film company really need that much registered capital? My previous small company only required about three hundred
thousand.”
“Do you really think they’re even in the same league? These days, signing just one artist can easily cost a couple million dollars,” Sylvia scoffed coldly.
Dillan hesitated for a long time before finally gritting his teeth and saying, “Fine, I’ll wire the money.”
That afternoon, Sylvia and Dillan went to the business registration office to complete the incorporation paperwork. To their surprise, they ran into someone from Sylvia’s past, Byron.
Byron came here to handle some business, and just as he happened to turn his head around, he saw Sylvia and Dillan together. In an instant, his face darkened.
