Sylvia picked up the file. Her eyes darted nervously across the pages. In that instant, a flicker of unease flashed through her eyes so quick it was almost imperceptible..
The documents detailed Master Cameron’s overseas investment activities–dates, locations, and project names–all meticulously recorded, like an inescapable net tightening around her.
Byron stared at Sylvia and said sternly, “Sylvia, after seeing all this, do you still think Dillan is Master Cameron? You’ve worked closely with him for so long. Based on your judgment, does he have the capability to manage so many successful film investments?”
Byron’s voice was low and powerful, each word striking her like a heavy hammer.
He picked up a few more documents and laid them out in front of her. “While Master Cameron was traveling overseas, hustling for investments, what was Dillan doing? Take a look for yourself.”
Sylvia’s fingertips trembled as she flipped through the files. Her expression darkened.
The clear timeline laid out in the documents was like a blade, cutting through the illusion she had so carefully constructed.
Meanwhile, Dillan was still loafing around aimlessly in the village. His life trajectory was far removed from that of a shrewd international investor. It was clear he couldn’t be Master Cameron.
Sylvia shot back, “This evidence proves nothing! Master Cameron never reveals his true identity. How can you possibly be sure Dillan isn’t him?”
Sylvia gnawed at her lower lip, mustering all her will to defend Dillan.
She couldn’t let Byron expose Dillan -if he did, everything she had meticulously orchestrated would collapse.
Anger flashed in Byron’s deep eyes. He slammed his palm down on the desk, sending the files skittering.
He snapped, “You’ve been completely bewitched by him! You believe every word he says, but you ignore me at every turn!”
Sylvia’s lips curled into a cold smirk. “Because you have a history of deceit. Why should I believe you now?”
Sylvia’s words left Byron speechless. Her words pierced him. His expression was flushed with frustration.
He exhaled slowly, forcing himself to calm down. “Sylvia, I don’t blame you for still believing him. But I have a way to prove everything.”
Sylvia’s heart skipped a beat. “What else are you going to do?”
Byron glanced at his elegant watch, his voice low and steady. “Master Cameron made quite a few enemies during his overseas investments. Among them is a businesswoman named Caitlin Bennett. He stole a major film project from her. Their grudge runs deep.”
“Then what?” Sylvia pressed, her voice tight with anxiety.
She knew that name too well.
Years ago, she and Caitlin competed for the same film project. She had won and made a killing. Caitlin has held a grudge against her ever since.
Byron fixed his gaze on Sylvia, his lips pressed into a thin line. “Caitlin just got back to the country,” he said slowly “I’ve already reached out to her. She should be here any minute now. Soon, you’ll know the truth.”
A flash of panic crossed Sylvia’s face. If Caitlin showed up, she wouldn’t just expose Dillan as a fraud–she’d also reveal that Sylvia was the real Master
Cameron.
And worse, she’d expose that Sylvia had orchestrated this entire deception. If Byron found out the full truth… would he expose it to everyone?
Chapter 130
What worried her even more was that she’d originally had Dillan as Master Cameron specifically to draw Joanna into this.
If Byron found out Dillan was an impostor, would he warn Joanna?
No matter what happens, she must stop Caitlin from revealing the truth.
“I don’t care if it’s Caitlin or whoever, I only believe Dillan is the real Master Cameron!” Sylvia snapped, forcing calm into her voice. With that, she turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
Hér high heels clattered anxiously against the floor as she rushed toward the elevators.
Byron stood rooted to the spot, his expression icy, unmistakable disappointment darkening his deep–set eyes.
Byron never expected Sylvia to trust Dillan so blindly. But Caitlin was on her way. Once she arrived, Sylvia couldn’t continue to defend him.
Sylvia rushed to the elevator–she had to get downstairs fast and cut Caitlin off before she could spill everything
Just as she reached the entrance, the elevator doors slid open. A woman in her forties stepped out. It was Caitlin.
She was clad in a meticulously tailored orange suit, its figure–hugging silhouette accentuating her statuesque frame. Her silver jasmine brooch gleamed on her chest, making her stand out. She exuded an air of elegant sophistication.
Her sharp gaze landed immediately on Sylvia. The hatred in her eyes was unmistakable. It was because of Sylvia that she had nearly become the butt of everyone’s jokes.
“Well, well. Looks like you’re in trouble, Sylvia. Even Byron Blair is digging into your business now.”
Sylvia’s eyes darted down around, worried someone might see them. Then, without hesitation, she stepped forward, grabbed Caitlin’s arm, and dragged her into a quiet corner of the corridor.
“Keep your mouth shut! My affairs are none of your business. Don’t say a word to anyone!”
Caitlin blinked slowly, a sly glint flashing through her eyes.
“You just came from Byron’s office, didn’t you? So you already know why I’m here?”
“Caitlin,” Sylvia said through clenched teeth, “let’s lay our cards on the table. Leave those old grudges from overseas where they belong. As for who Master Cameron is, that’s none of your damn business–so stay out of it.”
Hearing this, Caitlin immediately saw through Sylvia’s intentions.
“Oh?” she raised an eyebrow. “That Dillan who’s constantly livestreaming online and claiming to be Master Cameron… You hired him, didn’t you? You don’t want me to expose his true identity?”
Sylvia didn’t deny it. Her eyes flickered briefly. “Yes. And I don’t want you to expose him.”
Caitlin threw back her head and laughed, her voice laced with mockery.
“Sylvia, you’re afraid, aren’t you? That’s priceless! The more you beg, the more I want to tell everyone the truth. I’ll let the world see you for what you really are. Everyone will know Dillan is just a fake Master Cameron, and you’re the real mastermind, the true Master Cameron!”
Her hatred for Sylvia ran too deep. All these years, she’d been choking on that bitter resentment, and now that she finally had her chance for revenge, there was no way she’d let it slip through her fingers.
Sylvia’s eyes narrowed. She inhaled sharply and said, “Name your price. Anything you want–just don’t expose Dillan.”
Caitlin fell silent for a moment, her eyes suddenly turning icy. Slowly, she pointed to the floor between them.
“I’ll give you one chance. Kneel and beg for forgiveness right now. And I’ll stay silent.”

Chapter 130
“Smack!” The slap echoed through the corridor.
Without hesitation, Sylvia slapped Caitlin across the face.
Her eyes burned with fury and defiance. If Caitlin had asked for money, she might have tolerated it. But such a humiliating demand, which openly trampled on her dignity, was beyond her limits–she would never agree to it.
Caitlin reeled back, her hand on her cheek, stunned. Then, like a tidal wave, white–hot fury surged through her.
“Damn you, Sylvia! You’re finished!” she shouted. “I’m going to Byron to expose everything! I don’t know what twisted game you’re playing, but I’m going to end it!”
Seething with rage, she whirled around and stormed toward Byron Blair’s office.
Inside the office, Byron stood leaning against the desk. He didn’t move as Caitlin pushed open the door and marched in. A complex emotion flickered in his eyes before he spoke in a measured tone, “Ms. Bennett, I already know what you came to say. Let me give you a word of advice–some truths are better left buried.”
