Chapter 133
Tension flashed across Sylvia’s face the moment she spotted Caitlin with Byron.
“What are you two talking about?”
Sylvia snapped, her voice laced with suspicion as she strode over.
Master Cameron’s identity was her most closely guarded secret. If Caitlin let something slip to Byron, the fallout would be devastating,
Byron immediately noticed Sylvia’s wary expression. His brow furrowed slightly. She didn’t trust him–did she see everything he had done for her as meddling?
“We weren’t discussing you,” Caitlin quickly explained, “Just chatting about business.”
She glanced at Byron uneasily. Memories of how close he had come to destroying her company still haunted her. Now that the crisis was averted, her executives flooded her with messages assuring her everything was fine. Only then did she understand how terrible Byron’s power was.
Sylvia’s overbearing attitude earlier sent a shiver down Caitlin’s spine. Terrified that Byron might turn his anger on her, she shrank back like a startled bird, eager to distance herself. Glancing anxiously at Sylvia, Caitlin added nervously, “Sylvia, I swear I didn’t say anything…”
Sylvia shot her a glance, then pulled her aside. In a low voice, she said, “We’ve had our conflicts, yes. But they were business. Don’t be misled by slander –some people are more dangerous than they appear. Don’t trade integrity for petty gains.”
As she spoke, her gaze flickered pointedly toward Byron. The implication was clear.
After all, it was Byron who sought out Caitlin with the specific aim of making her reveal who Master Cameron was. In Sylvia’s eyes, he was nothing more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Caitlin’s face turned deathly pale–how dare Sylvia mock Byron right in front of her!
Terrified, she turned to look at him, hoping he had not heard. But as she turned, she saw his face darken with rage, his eyes blazing with fury.
Caitlin was utterly panicked–her only thought was to escape this powder keg of a situation as quickly as possible.
“Mr. Blair, I swear I didn’t say a word!” she quickly whispered, her voice tinged with panic.
Byron took in every single word Sylvia said, his heart burning with/rage.
He had moved mountains for her–silently shielding her every step–and yet she treated him like the villain. He wanted to expose her as Master Cameron to everyone. But the words caught in his throat.
“It’s okay. Sylvia was just joking. Don’t take it seriously.”
Despite the fury raging inside him, he said instead, forcing calm into his voice.
He resolved to keep Sylvia’s secret, especially at this critical juncture. That was the only way to ensure Caitlin wouldn’t dare harass her again.
Caitlin’s jaw dropped. This wasn’t the Byron she knew.
He’d nearly bankrupted her company over one reckless remark–yet Sylvia had just mocked him, and he was protecting her? The double standard was
unreal.
Sylvia didn’t even look at him. “This is between Caitlin and me,” she said coldly. “Stay out of it.”
Byron’s face darkened instantly. His fists clenched, veins bulging at his temples. “Fine,” he said, his voice low and furious. “Do whatever you want. It’s none of my business.“/

With that, he turned and jabbed angrily at the elevator button. As the doors slid shut, he vanished.
Sylvia scoffed at the elevator, rolling her eyes. “What’s with the temper? As if anyone asked him to stay.”
Caitlin gave a wry smile. If not for Byron’s intervention, she would have exposed Sylvia’s secret identity.
Byron clearly treated Sylvia differently.
After Byron left, Sylvia decided to have a serious talk with Caitlin to ensure that she would keep the secret about Master Cameron,
Before Sylvia could speak, Caitlin rushed to declare, “Sylvia, don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone about Master Cameron. I swear.”
‘There’s no way I can afford to cross Sylvia now. If Byron ever finds out I leaked her secret, he could ruin me all over again!‘ she thought anxiously.
She paused, then added in a rush, “Let’s forget everything that happened before. From now on, we’re good. I’ll never talk trash about you again.”
Sylvia froze. This shift in tone was unexpected.
Still, she gave a slight nod. “Alright. I won’t hold a grudge either. Let’s put the past behind us.”
Sylvia couldn’t have been happier. Although she was puzzled by Caitlin’s sudden change of heart, Sylvia only cared about whether Caitlin would keep her word.
Caitlin made a quick exit, desperate to get back and lay low before Byron could come after her again.
Sylvia returned to her company. The expansive lobby, lined with rows of empty desks, felt eerily quiet with no employees yet hired.
She decided to make time to visit a headhunting firm and start building her team.
At that moment, Dillan was basking in his illusion of power inside his chairman’s office.
Nearby, Joanna received a call from her father.
“Joanna,” her father said, “invite Dillan to dinner tonight.”
Mr. Moore had recently made substantial investments in Dillan and wanted to inquire about his next steps.
“Okay,” Joanna readily agreed, but then, suddenly remembering something, she lowered her voice and said, “By the way, a woman came looking for him earlier. I think I overheard her say he isn’t Master Cameron–but he denied it right away.”
Mr. Moore’s voice tensed as he said, “Joanna, there can’t be any mistakes. Otherwise, we’ll lose everything.”
Joanna, equally nervous, asked anxiously, “Dad, what should we do now?”
Mr. Moore’s eyes gleamed with shrewd calculation. “No worries,” he said smoothly. “Tonight’s the perfect chance to test him. We’ll know soon enough if he’s really Master Cameron.”
After a brief pause, he added, “Oh, and invite Sylvia tonight as well. I want to find out more about her.”
Joanna agreed; she was burning with curiosity about Sylvia’s background, too.
Joanna wondered, “If Sylvia doesn’t have any connections, how could she have raised her child alone abroad for so many years? But if she does, why would she settle for being just an ordinary doctor?”
Sylvia accepted the dinner invitation without hesitation. She’d already figured out what the Moores were up to: testing Dillan and digging into her background.
As night fell, Sylvia and the others arrived at the Grand Oak Hotel.

Meanwhile, on the second floor of the hotel, a man leaned against the failing, cigarette smoke curling lazily from between his fingers.
He lowered his gaze, his eyes landing on Sylvia just as she walked into the hotel.
“Mr. Blair, everyone’s waiting for you. Please come back to the private room.”
A familiar voice called from behind him.
A
