Chapter 150
Chapter 150
Freddy was secretly tailing Sylvia, poised to strike, when, to his shock, he discovered she was the very woman who had saved his mother last pre
A storm of conflicting emotions raged within him as he silently left the supermarket.
Joanna’s message buzzed in right on time. [Got eyes on Sylvia’s car yet? She’s hitting Francisco Memorial any minute. Don’t blow this chance.
Freddy hesitated for a moment before replying: [Got it.]
Since he’d promised Joanna, he had to keep his word. Besides, he owed her a debt this big, one he’d repay, even if it cost him his life.
He swung onto the motorcycle by the curb, gaze locked on the supermarket entrance. The moment Sylvia appeared, he’d gun the engine and run her
down.
Meanwhile, at Francisco Memorial School, the parent–teacher conference was in full swing. Most parents had already arrived and were busy chatting
about the results of the recent mock exams.
Joanna accompanied Byron to Zack’s parent–teacher conference. Her gazel
landed on the little girl standing by the classroom door, craning her neck and looking out expectantly. “Byron, isn’t Ruby?”
Byron followed Joanna’s gaze, a smile spreading across his face as he strode over to Ruby and scooped her up into his arms. “Who are you waiting for
here, Ruby?”
“Daddy, I’m waiting for Mommy to come to my parent–teacher meeting.” Ruby pouted with a little frown, her voice tinged with disappointment. “All the other parents are already here, but Mommy still hasn’t shown up.”
Joanna stepped forward with a smile and gave Ruby’s cheek a gentle pinch. “Ruby, how about I go to your parent–teacher conference for you later?”
“No.” Ruby refused immediately, piping up in her sweet, cute voice, “I have my mommy. Why would I need you at my parent–teacher conference?”
Joanna’s expression faltered for a split second, though inwardly she sneered, ‘If all goes according to plan, Sylvia won’t be showing up–ever. ‘Once Sylvia is dead, I’ll be able to marry Byron without a hitch.
Ruby, sooner or later would fall into Joanna’s hands, and when she did, Ruby was going to suffer, big time.
“Ruby, is your mom here yet?” the homeroom teacher asked as she stepped out of the classroom. “All the other students‘ parents have arrived. The conference is starting soon.”
“Madam, can we wait a little longer? My mommy isn’t here yet,” Ruby asked sheepishly, tugging at her pigtails
Byron frowned, turned to Joanna, and said, “Joanna, you go to Ruby’s parent–teacher conference for her.”
Byron frowned, thinking, ‘Seriously, Sylvia knows today is Ruby’s parent–teacher conference, but she still didn’t show up on time. If she couldn’t make it, why not just give us a heads–up?‘
Joanna thought to herself gleefully, ‘This is the perfect chance to get a head start on practicing my future stepmother role.
Joanna took Ruby from Byron’s arms and said sweetly, “Ruby, how about letting your daddy go to Zack’s parent–teacher conference? I’ll take care of yours, okay?”
“Put her down.” An icy voice cut through abruptly. Startled, Joanna whirled around, her face instantly draining of color.
‘How could this be? How did Sylvia get here? Did she escape unscathed again? Freddy shouldn’t have failed,‘ Joanna wondered.
“Mommy, you’re finally here,” Ruby exclaimed. “This mean lady kept saying she’d go to my parent–teacher meeting instead.”

Chapter 150
Ruby wriggled free from Joanna’s arms and dashed to Sylvia. Tipping her face up with an adorable pout, she pleaded, “Mommy, pick me up to mean lady take me away.”
Sylvia gently tweaked Ruby’s nose before scooping her up.
“From now on, be on time for Ruby’s parent teacher conferences,” Byron said coldly.
Sylvia shot him a glare. “Since when do you get to run my life? The elementary division’s parent teacher conference is later than Zack’s. Don’t bother with his. I’ll take care of it myself.”
Byron had been in a good mood, but Sylvia’s words threw him into complete disarray. ‘How outrageous, Byron thought, ‘now she even wants to take over Zack’s parent–teacher conference.‘
Joanna kept sizing Sylvia up. There was not a single scratch on her. Joanna’s unease only grew. She thought anxiously, ‘Damn it, I need to call Freddy right now and find out what the hell happened.’
Freddy had planned to stage a road accident, but his conscience got the better of him and he abandoned the plan.
Sylvia carried Ruby into the classroom. Ruby sat primly at her desk, but when Sylvia noticed it was crammed full of snacks and toys, she couldn’t help frowning in concern.
Karly, Ruby’s homeroom teacher, smiled and nodded at Sylvi Blair, Ruby scored a perfect score in both subjects on the mock exam, and she’s also
the class favorite. Everyone just adores her.”
Hearing the teacher’s praise, Ruby immediately lifted her chin with pride and beamed at her mom. “Mommy, look how great I am.”
Sylvia couldn’t help thinking, ‘How did this mischievous little girl become the class favorite?‘
She instinctively glanced at the children around her. The kids were momentarily stunned, but as soon as Ruby’s big, bright eyes met theirs, they burst into enthusiastic applause.
“Yeah, Ruby’s amazing. She’s our little class favorite.”
“Yeah, we all love Ruby.”
Sylvia couldn’t help but smile with quiet pride.
Little did Sylvia know, her daughter Ruby was the undisputed queen of her class. No one could stand up to her..
Any kid who dared to challenge her got a taste of her tiny fists. After that, not a single one of them dared utter a word against her.
But deep down, everyone genuinely admired Ruby. She’d whipped the rowdiest kids into shape, and she was always generous with her yummy snacks and cool toys.
Meanwhile, Byron and Joanna had arrived at Zack’s classroom in the elementary division.
The elementary division’s parent–teacher conference started later than the other grades!
Spotting his dad, Zack urgently tugged at his arm to pull him out of the classroom. “Dad, you can go to work now. Mom just texted. She’s coming to my parent–teacher meeting.”
Zack’s face turned bright red with excitement. This was the very first time his mom would be at his parent–teacher conference, and he couldn’t wait to show all his classmates who his real mom was.
Byron’s expression darkened as he stood off to the side. ‘Sylvia is getting out of hand. Now she even wants to steal Zack’s parent–teac me,‘ he wondered.
