Chapter 166
Before Byron and Sylvia could even start arguing over custody, Freddy quickly stepped in front of Sylvia, staring Byron down like an enraged leopard. ready to shield her from any harm.
Byron’s eyes turned icy. Since Freddy was wearing a mask and sunglasses, he failed to recognize him. In a bone–chilling tone, Byron said, “Walk away now if you know what’s good for you.”
This was Byron being civil. Had anyone else dared to meddle in his business, the consequences would have been dire.
Sylvia, worried Byron might lose his temper, gently tugged at Freddy’s sleeve and whispered, “This doesn’t concern you.”
However, Freddy didn’t budge an inch and firmly declared, “Ms. Sullivan, don’t worry. As long as I’m here, no one’s going to lay a finger on you.”
Those words sent Byron into a rage. Even though Sylvia was now his ex–wife, Byron would never tolerate anyone crossing the line with her, not now, not
ever.
Both Zander and Hayden had tasted Byron’s fists just for getting too close to Sylvia. Byron narrowed his eyes, determined to see who this man really was.
The next instant, Byron ripped off Freddy’s mask in one swift motion, his expression turning thunderous. “Freddy, so it was you all along. You’ve got
some nerve.”
Recognized, Freddy’s face flushed crimson with a mix of shame and defiance.
He had always been terrified of Byron, the infamous Tyrant of the business world. After all, everyone heard of him.
Freddy stiffened his neck and declared, “Yeah, it’s me. So what? You’re not laying a finger on Ms. Sullivan today.”
Freddy was endlessly grateful to Sylvia. If it weren’t for her, his mother’s leg wouldn’t have healed so quickly.
And just now, Sylvia actually woke his father from a years–long coma and helped them finally resolve the rift that had divided father and son for so long.
Byron’s eyes narrowed dangerously, his authority clearly challenged. He growled, “So you’ve got a death wish? Then I’ll teach you the lesson your father should have taught you long ago.”
Realizing the danger, Freddy lunged at Byron the moment the words, left his mouth. ‘Whoever dares to bully Ms. Sullivan has to get through me first,‘ he wondered.
Despite his acrobatic skills as a former motorcycle stuntman, Freddy lasted only a few moves against Byron, a ruthless drill instructor with a military background.
In a flash, Byron grabbed him by the scruff, pinned him against the windowsill, and delivered a sharp, humiliating smack to his backside.
Byron delivered a sharp spank that echoed through the room.
Freddy’s face burned crimson, the color creeping all the way down his neck. In all his years, he’d never been spanked before. The humiliation stung as much as the blow.
“Byron,” Sylvia said urgently. “Why are you bullying a kid? Let him go right now.”
Byron narrowed his eyes at Freddy and demanded, “Learned your lesson yet?”
Freddy’s stubborn streak flared up. Instead of admitting defeat after being spanked, he suddenly sank his teeth into Byron’s arm.
Byron’s neck veins bulged violently. Never had he encountered such a cheap shot, being bitten, and by a man no less.
Unlike Zander or Hayden, Freddy was different. Though he feared Byron, his primal instincts took over. He clamped down like a cornered leopard, refusing to let go.

Furious, Byron, swung his arm and shoved Freddy away with brute force.
“Alright, cut it out.” Sylvia swiftly stepped between them.
If it weren’t for Sylvia, Byron would’ve taught Freddy a lesson he’d never forget.
At this moment, Freddy glared at Byron, his eyes bloodshot with rage, refusing to back down
Just then, a commotion of footsteps erupted downstairs as the Colon family rushed up to the second floor.
Seeing this, Freddy hastily pulled his mask back on, anxious not to be recognized.
At the front of the group, Tamid anxiously asked, “How’s my dad?”
Sylvia said calmly, “He’s stable now, at least out of immediate danger, But full recovery will require continued treatment under my care.”
She deliberately raised her voice, making sure Wade could hear from the bedroom.
Just as Sylvia had anticipated, Wade closed his eyes and resumed feigning a vegetative state.
Freddy, standing nearby, instantly caught on to Sylvia’s plan. ‘In my father’s current condition, he stands no chance against the Colon family. If they decide to harm him, he probably won’t last till tomorrow,‘ he thought anxiously.
Only when Wade recovered could he confront the Colon family.
At first, Tamid was skeptical of Sylvia’s words. But when he entered Wade’s hospital room and saw his steady breathing and peaceful complexion, a look of relief and joy instantly lit up his face.
Though Wade was still in a vegetative state, at least he was finally out of danger.
They thought, ‘As long as he is still alive, we still have time to find the will he made earlier. There’s no way we’ll let Freddy and his mother walk away with most of the inheritance. We have to figure out a way to change that will, no matter what.’
“Let’s go.” Sylvia gave Freddy a slight nod, then descended the stairs with him following closely behind.
Byron followed close behind, making no further delay at the Colon residence.
Sylvia drove off with Freddy, leaving the Colon residence behind.
Byron watched the car disappear into the distance, a pang of discomfort gripping his chest. There seemed to be more and more men around Sylvia these days. But he had no right to interfere. After all, they were already divorced.
Sylvia pulled up to a motel and handed Freddy a key card. “You can stay here for now. If you’re free tomorrow, go help out on set.”
Freddy nodded and headed inside with the key card.
Sylvia drove home to find that Jolie had already picked/Zack and Ruby up.
The moment Sylvia stepped into the living room, Zack and Ruby came bounding over, bubbling with excitement as they chattered away, bombarding her with questions.
“Did you finish your homework yet?” she asked.
Sylvia’s simple question instantly made Zack and Ruby’s faces fall. Ever since the siblings had been reunited, all they could think about was having fun.
Sylvia ordered, “Upstairs now and finish your homework. No bedtime until it’s all done.”
Putting on her best stern–mom act, Sylvia/watched as Zack and Ruby, looking pitiful, clasped hands and shuffled slowly upstairs.

Meanwhile, Freddy had just entered his motel room and closed the door when his phone started ringing.
“Freddy, where are you?” Joanna’s shrill voice crackled through the receiver. “Why haven’t I heard a thing about what I told you to do?”
What Joanna meant was ordering Freddy to find a way to eliminate Sylvia.
Recently, Joanna had grown increasingly unhinged, for she felt she’d lost all control over Zack. Now the boy only wanted to stay with Sylvia, acting as if he’d forgotten all about his childhood promise to let Joanna be his new mommy.
Joanna seethed with hatred for Sylvia, wishing she would just vanish into thin air.
Freddy hesitated for a brief moment upon hearing Joanna’s voice before replying, “I’m in Silverton.”
“Silverton?” A calculating gleam flashed in Joanna’s eyes as she assumed Freddy was here to carry out her orders.
Her voice turned icy as she commanded, “Since you’re already in Silverton, I’ve got a job for you tonight. Head to Sylvia’s place now. I’ll be waiting”
