Chapter 42
“Still not planning to go home and finish your homework?” Sylvia asked, her tone firm as she glanced at Zack railing behind her
Zack’s little face scrunched up, but instead of getting upset, a hint of joy sparkled in his eyes. After all, wasn’t this her way of showing the cared shon
him?
He stubbornly lifted his chin. “Don’t worry. That little bit of homework is no big deal for me, I’ll finish it in no time once I get home”
With that, he stuck to Sylvia like a shadow, refusing to leave her side no matter how hard she tried to shake him off
Sylvia sighed in exasperation and eventually returned to her medical patch booth.
The booth was eerily quiet, with not a single customer stopping by to inquire. Anxiety crept into her heart. She needed to figure out a way to promote her product.
Meanwhile, Zack and Ruby were giggling uncontrollably. The two kids were having the time of their lives.
Unconsciously, Sylvia’s furrowed brows began to relax.
At the Blair Group’s top–floor office, Byron sat behind his desk, his sharp gaze sweeping over the stack of documents. His naturally cold and commanding presence was unmistakable.
Just as he was about to make edits to one of the files, the phone on his desk rang abruptly.
“Byron, it’s the weekend. You can’t just work all the time. Joanna called me, sobbing. Go comfort her. She’s been there for you for years. You can’t ignore her!” Liana’s angry voice blared through the phone. She kept nagging at him before finally hanging up.
Liana had always been fond of Joanna. As the daughter of her old friend and someone she’d watched grow up, Joanna was her ideal choice for a daughter–in–law.
After hearing Liana’s account, Byron immediately picked up the phone again. “Find out if there’s someone called the Miracle Doctor at the Pharmaceutical Conference.”
From Liana’s words, he pieced together the situation. Joanna’s guest, Hugo from the Traditional Medicine Association, had been kicked out by someone
known as the Miracle Doctor.
Joanna had cared for Zack for years. He couldn’t just stand by and/do nothing when she needed help.
After finishing the call, Byron grabbed his suit jacket and headed straight for the Pharmaceutical Conference.
Joanna stood at the lounge door, tears streaming down her face as her delicate frame trembled slightly.
Byron walked in and immediately noticed her. He stepped forward, handing her a tissue. “I know everything that happened. Don’t worry. Whoever hurts you will pay for it.”
A flicker of joy crossed Joanna’s face, but she quickly hesitated. “Byron, it’s just that… Never mind. I don’t want to make things difficult for you. Let’s just drop it.”
Byron’s gaze softened as he noticed her red, swollen eyes. Thinking about how she had been by his and Zack’s side all these years, he felt a pang sympathy. Turning to Chase, he asked coldly, “Have you tracked down the Miracle Doctor yet?”
Chase quickly stepped forward. “Mr. Blair, we’ve confirmed that the Miracle Doctor is indeed here.”

Byron’s tone turned icy. “Do whatever it takes to get in touch with him. I want him to replace Mr. Quill and sign with Joanna’s company.”
Joanna’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, a hint of vindictive satisfaction flashing across her face.

Chapter 42
Chase immediately set off to find the Miracle Doctor based on the information he had received. If the intel was correct, the Miracle fortor was at the booth just ahead.
Sylvia bent over, carefully arranging box
of medical patches on the table.
“Excuse me, are you the Miracle Doctor?” Chase stepped forward, cutting straight to the chase. “Mr. Blair wants you to take a position at a pharmaceutical company!”
Hearing someone address her, Sylvia instinctively looked up.
“Ms. Sullivan… it’s you?” Chase froze, completely stunned. He never expected the renowned Miracle Doctor to be Sylvia.
Sylvia’s gaze was cold, her lips curling into a faint, mocking smile. “Mr. Blair? You mean Byron Blair? So, he wants me to work for Joanna?”
Chase was at a loss for words, standing there awkwardly.
“Exactly!” At that moment, Byron strode over. A flicker of complex emotions flashed in his eyes. He thought, ‘Sylvia is the Miracle Doctor?” But his expression quickly shifted to one of disdain.
If she agreed to help Joanna, it would settle the so–called debt she owed Joanna.
“Work for Joanna’s company, and we’ll call it even for what you owe her,” Byron declared, stepping forward with an authoritative tone. “This is your only option.”
Sylvia sneered, her eyes filled with defiance, “Byron, who do you think you are? Ordering me around like I owe you something? What a joke!”
The bitterness of past humiliation surged in her heart.
She vividly remembered the time Joanna whimsically decided to learn painting and Byron forced her to pose as a model for three hours.
Her legs had gone stiff, her back aching, and any slight movement would earn Joanna’s complaints.
In the end, Joanna casually announced she wasn’t interested anymore and tore the canvas to shreds.
At that moment, Sylvia realized Joanna didn’t care about painting but simply wanted to humiliate her.
Byron hadn’t cared about Sylvia’s exhaustion either. Instead, he comforted Joanna gently, as if she were the one who had been wronged.
Facing Byron’s demands again, Sylvia failed to suppress the resentment. She forcefully shook off his hand. “Mr. Blair, stop blaming me for everything. What you should do is manage your son better and keep him from showing up in front of me all the time.”
Byron froze, his gaze tightening.
He had repeatedly warned Zack not to seek out Sylvia. And yet, the boy disobeyed him again.
“Zack, isn’t that your dad?” Just then, Ruby, who had been playing outside, pointed at Byron with her chubby finger.
Zack’s face turned pale in an instant.
He thought, ‘Oh no, Dad caught me again!‘
Byron turned his head, his handsome face darkening as his eyes
narrowed.
He thought, ‘This brat is hopeless! Always running back to her, no matter how cold she is.‘
“Zack, go home!” Byron’s voice was icy as he barked at Zack, already planning to teach him a lesson when they got back.
Zack swallowed nervously, inching toward Byron with hesitant steps. His big, round eyes darted around before he cautiously tilted his head up. “Dad, can I stay here just a bit longer? I promise I’ll go home later!”

Byron’s gaze turned even colder. This brat was actually trying to negotiate with him.
Zack lowered his head, clearly frightened, but he mustered his courage. “Dad, just let me stay with Mom a little longer, okay?”
With that, he bolted past Byron and sprinted to Sylvia’s side.
‘If I’m getting punished anyway, I might as well make it worth it by staying with Mom a bit longer, thought Zack.
Byron’s face turned ashen, his hand clenching tightly as he glared in Zack’s direction.
Though Sylvia claimed she felt nothing for Zack, she instinctively shielded him behind her, raising her head to meet Byron’s gaze coldly.
