Chapter 78
“Zack, are you disobeying me now?” Angel’s face darkened the moment she heard Zack’s volen on the phone.
Angel had inherited the Blair family’s striking genes and was blessed with stunning beauty.
Her chic, short, permed hair and long diamond earrings framed her face as she sat gracefully on the sofa, her legs elegantly crossed in a farm–fitting
white casual outfit.
“Angel. I’m coming home tomorrow anyway. Got to go now of Mom will get mad at me.” Zack blurted out another line and hung up in a hurry, not wanting to get into more trouble with his mom.
Zack bit his lip nervously and turned to Sylvia. “Mom, do you think Angel will be mad at me?”
Sylvia smiled and ruffled his hair. “Don’t worry, honey. Angel will forgive you. Besides, she’ll see you tomorrow anyway.”
Although Sylvia sought full custody of Zack, she wouldn’t selfishly sever his ties with the Blair family. In fact, she genuinely hoped the Blair family would understand his decision.
Even though they didn’t really get along, Sylvia knew Angel was not a bad person at heart. Angel was just too easily swayed by Joanna.
“Angel, is Zack not coming back?” Joanna, sitting on the sofa, asked nervously.
Angel glared at her phone after Zack hung up on her and snorted in displeasure, “He is getting bolder by the day. Not only does he refuse to come home, but he actually dared to hang up on me.”
“Angel, don’t blame Zack. Sylvia must have told him to hang up.” Joanna let out a helpless sigh.
Angel’s temper flared instantly. “Joanna, why are you still so kind to Sylvia? Did you forget she stole Byron from you? And all those times you told me she bullied you? Have you wiped that from your memory?”
Joanna sighed and said gently, “Let it go, Angel. We shouldn’t be mad at Sylvia. After all, she’s Zack’s mom. What if she takes it out on Zack because of
us?”
Angel’s face darkened. She snapped, “How dare she?” Then, fuming, she stomped upstairs, muttering to herself, “I’m so mad. I’ll have Byron bring Zack
back tonight.”
Just then, Byron descended the stairs, his expression cold and his presence commanding.
“Byron, how could you let Zack stay with Sylvia? Zack is our child. Don’t let that woman steal him away from us.” Angel fumed.
Byron’s face turned cold as he shot a displeased look at Joanna on the sofa. “Did you put these ideas in Angel’s head? She just got home, and you’re already upsetting her. I can’t fathom what you were thinking.”
Joanna’s face flushed crimson. “I’m sorry. I just let it slip.”
“Byron, how can you blame Joanna? I’m Zack’s aunt. Don’t I have the right to know?” Angel jumped to Joanna’s defense.
Joanna quickly pulled Angel back down onto the sofa and whispered, “Angel, let’s drop it, okay? Zack’s staying with Sylvia, and you know Byron isn’t happy about it either. He’ll figure out what’s best to do.”
Byron was in a foul mood. Having no intention of staying for dinner, he yanked at his tie, stormed out of the living room, and drove off without another
word.
Joanna said gently, “Angel, don’t let this get you down. I’ve got some exciting news. Once you hear it, you’ll definitely be happy.”
Joanna knew full well how crucial it was to stay in Angel’s good graces. Her chances of marrying Byron depended on it.

Angel’s interest was immediately piqued. “Joanna, what’s up?”
Joanna couldn’t hide her pride as she said, “Tomorrow, I’m going to an open casting call for a new film project I’m auditioning for the femiata lent–a giggled behind her hand and teased, “Guess who’s backing this film?”
“Who’s investing in it?” Angel asked, looking puzzled. Then her eyes suddenly lit up as if she’d just realized something, “Wait. Could it be Fir
“Exactly. It’s Master Cameron.” Joanna arched her eyebrows with a smug smile. “I’ve always known how much you admire him
“Even though he’s been investing in films overseas these past few years, every single one has been a huge hit. Tomorrow’s just an open casting call, but there’s a good chance he might show up in person.”
“Really?” Angel’s eyes sparkled with excitement. With a background in financial management, her graduation thesis had focused on Master Cameron’s investment strategies, and she had always idolized the legendary investor.
What intrigued Angel even more was that Master Cameron had never revealed his true identity in public.
Angel asked eagerly, “Joanna, can tag along with you tomorrow? Maybe I’ll finally get to see Master Cameron in person.”
Joanna feigned a look of reluctance, but then took Angel’s hand with a smile and said, “Alright, I’ll make an exception just for you. I’ll take you along to the open casting call tomorrow.”
Angel grinned and said gratefully, “Joanna, you’re so sweet. With a kind heart like yours, you’ll definitely become Byron’s wife someday.”
The open casting call for the film A Warming Town kicked off at 10 a.m. the next morning.
The tenth–floor lobby of the hotel was packed with aspiring actors, all dressed to impress. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as each received a numbered card. When called, they’d head into the audition room up front.
“Sylvia, are you here yet? The open casting call is about to begin.” Just as Sylvia stepped into the lobby, her phone rang. It was Zander calling.
As the director of this film, Zander was also one of the audition judges.
Of course, Sylvia would also be on the audition panel as the film’s primary investor and the enigmatic Master Cameron everyone talked about.
“I’m already here. Be right there,” Sylvia smiled into the phone before hanging up.
She scanned the actors waiting in the lobby, mostly mid–tier actors, since A–list stars rarely attended open casting calls like this.
The male lead for the film had already been decided. It was Zander starring in the role. That meant only the female lead was up for grabs, while everyone else would be considered for supporting roles.
“Isn’t that Sylvia over there?” Joanna, sitting in a corner of the lobby, suddenly pointed at Sylvia in surprise. But as soon as she realized who it was, her expression darkened, a stormy look flickering in her eyes.
Joanna had just learned that Zander was directing the film and was about to pitch herself for the lead role when, unexpectedly, she ran into Sylvia, who, to her dismay, seemed to be after the same part as well.
“What’s Sylvia doing here?” said Angel.
Sitting next to Joanna was Angel, who had come hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive Master Cameron. But to her disappointment, she didn’t spot her idol; instead, the first person she ran into was Sylvia.
Angel, still fuming over Sylvia keeping Zack overnight, stormed over and blocked her path. “Sylvia, you’re becoming more and more sh time. What’s a non–actress like you doing here, trying to crash the audition?”
Sylvia shot Angel a cool glance and retorted, “Aren’t you in the same boat? You’re not an actress either, yet here you are.”

Angel scoffed, “I’m only here for Joanna, obviously. Everyone adores her, She’s a real superstar, unlike you
Angel let out a dismissive snort and glanced at Joanna. “Joanna, why are you letting random people wander around here? Shouldn’t you calt see unitý and have her thrown out?”
Joanna forced a strained laugh and, with feigned concern, said, “Sylvia, I know you’ve always dreamed of being in the spotlight, but acting is really tough. Maybe you should just leave now?”
Sylvia scoffed coldly, “Cut the fake concern. I’m swamped and don’t have time for your nonsense.”
