Chapter 91
Chapter 91
By evening, Byron picked Zack and Ruby up for home after school
Meanwhile, Sylvia’s phone rang–it was Jolie calling.
“Ms. Sullivan. Ruby went to the Blair estate with Zack. Mr. Blair said he already let you know”
Sylvia froze upon hearing it. She had just gotten home after a long, exhausting day. Without hesitation, she immediately grabbed her phone and called
Byron.
She didn’t know why Byron should trick her daughter into his house.
And she wondered if Byron had found out Ruby was his daughter, and such a probability made her anxious.
She tried calling Byron several times, but his phone remained off.
With burning anger, she jumped in her car and sped straight to the Blair estate.
At that moment, in the Blair family kitchen, a dozen chefs were bustling about, preparing an extravagant dinner for a distinguished guest this evening,
But they soon discovered that this distinguished guest was none other than a three–year–old little girl.
Ruby and Zack walked into the Blair estate together, both with their backpacks on–hers stuffed with snacks and toys, his crammed full of homework assignments.
“Ruby, let’s go upstairs and do our homework! We can have dinner once we’re done!” Zack said cheerfully.
“Okay!” Ruby nodded, her face lighting up.
But Byron, who was following behind, talked sternly to Zack, “Zack, go upstairs and do your homework. Ruby’s so small–she doesn’t need that much schoolwork.”
Zack blinked in confusion, looking a little hurt. “Dad, but you’ve been assigning me tons of homework since I was little! You never said I could skip it just because I was young!”
Byron shot him a cold glare. “You have different standards.” He strode over, took Ruby’s backpack off her shoulders, and set it gently on the couch.
The more Byron looked at her, the more he felt a tender emotion.
He scooped Ruby up into his arms, pinching her hands and then her chubby cheeks.
‘So adorable!
She’s my daughter!‘ Byron thought, delighted.
Ruby wasn’t afraid of Byron at all. She giggled, her face lighting up with a bright smile.
Meanwhile, Byron urged Zack, “Go! Get upstairs and do your homework now! Do you want a spanking?”
He just wanted to share time with his daughter without being bothered.
Zack scratched his head curiously.
After all, Ruby was his friend and guest–they should be playing together. But now it seemed his father was going to receive his guest alone.
But he didn’t dare resist. So he slung his backpack over his shoulder and trudged upstairs, glancing back repeatedly, clearly reluctant to leave.

Chapter 91
Byron settled down on the couch and stopped Ruby onto his lap. Looking at her with warm concern
*Ruby, Is your study burdensome at kindergarten? Do you like your teachers?”
If Ruby had unfavorable comments about her teachers, Byron would replace the feachers without hesitation. And if Ruby didn’t like ever shut it down right away.
“Uncle Byron, kindergarten is so much fun! I’m not tired at all!” Ruby blinked her big, sparkling eyes
cheerfully.
Byron nodded and gave her chubby cheeks another gentle squeeze.
He wished he could tell his daughter right now that she should be calling him Dad instead of Uncle Byron.
Just then, Liana came downstairs, looking displeased. “Byron, why did you bring Sylvia’s daughter home?”
“Mom, keep your voice down. You’ll scare Ruby.”
Byron interrupted her coldly, his expression hardened. Scooping Ruby into his arms, he headed for the dining room–determined not to let anyone ruin this precious father–daughter moment.
He presented Ruby with some cakes, “Ruby, dinner’s still a while away. How about we get you a little snack first?”
“Yay!” At the mention of snacks, Ruby’s eyes instantly lit up.
Liana stood at the top of the stairs with a frown. She just couldn’t figure out why her son was suddenly doting on Sylvia’s daughter so much.
So she went to question Zack, who was doing his homework, but couldn’t get a straight answer out of him.
After some thought, she called Joanna.
As soon as Joanna heard that Ruby was at the Blair estate, she rushed over.
For her, this was not good news at all as Ruby’s presence might foreshadow Sylvia’s resuming influence in the Blair family.
After talking with Liana for a while in her room, Joanna tiptoed downstairs toward the dining room.
Peeking through the cracked dining room door, she frowned.
Byron was sitting at the dining table with Ruby in his arms, his face beaming with adoration, his fingers gently smoothing Ruby’s hair as if it were something fascinating.
Meanwhile, Ruby was nibbling on a cupcake.
She had a horn braid on each side. Byron asked tentatively, “Ruby, how about we skip those sticking–up pigtails from now on?”
It looked kind of silly. His daughter should wear her hair long and elegant.
And he had determined to raise Ruby to be a refined young lady with grace and poise.
“Nope!” Ruby pouted, batting her big eyes. “I like it just this way–it’s super cute!
“Mommy told me not to wear pigtails like this, too, but I said no to her as well!” Ruby declared with a pout.
Byron chuckled, “Alright, whatever you want. As long as you’re happy.”
Joanna stood at the doorway, her face dark with displeasure. She couldn’t fathom why Byron doted on Ruby even more than on his own son, Zack.
Byron then asked with concern, “Ruby, is your mom still not allowed to have any sweet food these days?”
Chapter 91
He couldn’t help but frown when he remembered sylola had exposed herself to poison to Asve him, thin the lapli bonn
“Yep, Mommy can’t have anything sweet at all, or she’ll feel really sick.“.
As Ruby spoke, her eyes welled up with tears. The cupcake in her hand didn’t seem appealing anymore, and she slowly placed it back
“Mommy can’t have sweet cakes, so I guess I won’t eat them either,” she said softly.
Byron placed the cupcake back in Ruby’s hands, his voice tender. “It’s alright, sweetheart, you can still eat cakes. I’m looking for the best doctors let you mommy. Maybe she’ll get better soon.”
Ever since Byron learned about Sylvia’s condition, he had been reaching out to world–renowned international virologists, determined to eliminate the toxins from her system.
At least this would help ease some of the guilt weighing on his heart.
He knew it would be difficult–after all, Sylvia herself was a top physician, yet even she couldn’t cure her own illness.
Joanna lingered at the doorway, her eyes glinting with curiosity. She couldn’t help but wonder what illness Sylvia had that prevented her from eating sweet food. Not daring to approach and ask, she quietly slipped away from the dining room doorway.
While Byron was playing with Ruby, the butler, Louis, hurried in. Noticing Ruby’s presence, he hesitated and said respectfully, “Mr. Blair, may I have a word with you?”
Byron gently settled Ruby in a nearby chair and strode to the doorway. Louis finally spoke up in a hushed tone, “Mr. Blair, Ms. Sullivan is here. She wants to take her daughter home and is demanding to come in.”
“Don’t let her in,” Byron said coldly, his expression darkening.
He was angry that Sylvia prevented him from knowing Ruby was his daughter for all these years!
Thinking about it, his chest tightened with resentment. If only he could reveal the truth now–he’d keep Ruby by his side forever and never let her go back to Sylvia.
