The moment the call disconnected, Dante froze. I had never ended the call on him before. He quickly tried to call me back, but he heard the robotic message saying that my number was unavailable.
He tried to message me,
but I’d blocked him.
Dante’s heart sank. In the past, I had never reacted like this, no matter how upset I was. He immediately thought of Linda, my closest friend.

It was already nighttime, but he drove up to Linda’s apartment in Brunville anyway. After opening the door, Linda sneered at him, saying, Oh, my. Ignoring Linda’s sarcastic remarks, Dante grimly asked, “Where’s Nina?”
