Chapter 18 Wait They Don’t Even Have a Daughter
But… the Tate family didn’t even have a daughter.
Jareth thought. Didn’t they have three sons?
Meanwhile, Chloe sat stiffly in the car, silently staring out at the scenery.
Andres sat across from her, his gaze frequently drifting toward her. “Don’t you have anything you want to ask me?
After all this back–and–forth, adopting her again–shouldn’t she have something to say?
Chloe snapped out of her daze and shook her head. “No.”
Mom said not to ask things I shouldn’t. And honestly, she wasn’t that interested.
Andres frowned. “The reason I brought you back isn’t because you’re my daughter–it’s because I know your uncle. Your mom’s brother.
Marvin chimed in. “Your mom has four older brothers and one older sister. That sister is my mom. Don’t know if you knew that

She pressed her lips together. “I knew”
Marvin smirked. “I bet your mom talked a lot of crap about my mom, didn’t she?”
Chloe blinked, then shook her head. “Mom did curse sometimes, but most of the time she just cried.”
Andres‘ gaze turned cold. “Cried about what?”
In a soft voice, she said, “She cried and called for her sister.”
The car instantly fell into silence.
Chloe sensed the change and shrank her shoulders. “Did I… say something wrong?”
Andres‘ oldest son, Jake, broke the silence. “Anyway, your mom and your aunt didn’t get along. You probably know this already, your mom tried to kill our mom. So you can’t show up in front of her. Because as her daughter, you’re a mistake. Cor it?”
She immediately turned to look out the window, trying to hide her panic.
She already knew no one liked her.
Andres second son, Desmond, let out a short laugh. “What he means is, if you show up

Her mom always said she was a mistake. She’d gotten used to it a long time ago.
Chloe quietly stared out the window, lost in thought. Suddenly, a card appeared in front of her.
She froze, looking up at Andres in confusion.
Andres pize was dark. “There’s 280,000 dollars in this card. It’s you money. Use it to buy yourself some clothes. But if you want more from me, you’ll have to wait two months. It’s 140,000 dollars per month. If you think that’s not enough,
140,000 dollars a month. How much was that? Her head buzzed.
“How many bags of soup noodles could that buy?”
Marvin burst into laughter, full of mockery “All you ever think about is those dumb soup noodles! That money could buy a

bunch of houses full of soup noodles! You poor thing!”
Chloe gasped, overwhelmed, and waved her hands. “Sir, this is too much! I can’t accept it!”
Finished
Her mom used to beat her over a single dollar–and now Andres was handing her something worth multiple houses worth of noodles!
She couldn’t take it!
Andres couldn’t be bothered to argue. He handed the card to Marvin. “You take care of it. Go buy her a pile of clothes. Toss out every single secondhand thing she brought from the orphanage. I don’t want her looking like a charity case in Hayden’s
house.
Marvin looked stunned. “Why me?”
Desmond couldn’t stop laughing. “Marvin, aren’t you the closest one to our new little sister? You were just sneaking a peek at her greeting card a minute ago. If you’re not in charge, who is?”
Marvin exploded. “Who said I looked at her crappy little card? I didn’t look at that trash at all. I’m shredding it the moment İ get home!”
He turned and glared at Chloe. “Don’t listen to him! I don’t like your stupid card. I never even looked at it!”
Chloe blinked in confusion. If you don’t like it, then you don’t. Why tell me twice?
She nodded obediently. “Okay, Marvin. I don’t believe him–1 don’t believe it one bit!”
Marvin went silent.
Desmond laughed so hard he nearly fell over. “Haha, Marvin, looks like you’re in for a fun ride from now on! Hahaha!”
Andres‘ lips curled slightly as he looked out the window. “We’re at the mall. Take her in and get whatever. I’ll have the bodyguards find you. Pick what you want, but that money is hers. You’re not allowed to touch it.”
Marvin jumped out of the car, irritated. “Like I care about a little pocket change! Let’s go!”
Chloe scrambled after him on her short legs, politely waving at the others. “Bye! Thank you!”
The car door shut behind her and drove away.
Marvin, completely fed up, grumbled, “I don’t get why I have to handle your dumb little stuff. I could be enjoying my day off. but instead I’m stuck here doing all this nonsense with you!”
