Hayden was outraged. “You call that a little while? Why don’t you just have me raise her to adulthood and let her take care of me when I’m old while you’re at it!”
Andres’s expression darkened. “You know you’ll be compensated.”
Hayden was clearly resisting. This isn’t about the money. I just don’t like the kid–she’s Alice’s daughter! I don’t care if Alice was my blood sister; she was my enemy? Why should I be stuck raising the daughter of someone I hated? What do I owe her?”

Marvin frowned. Chloe’s not that bad of a kid. At least that’s what he thought.
He said in a low voice. “If Uncle doesn’t want to take her, we’ll sell another house. We’ll take care of her ourselves” ||
It wasn’t like she needed that much attention anyway–Chloe was low–maintenance.
Andres shut that idea down. “No. All of our properties have a risk of being seen by Natalia. If she even catches a glimpse of that kid, she’ll recognize her immediately. What happened before already hit her hard–she can’t take another shock”
Hayden couldn’t understand. “Then put her up for adoption!”
Andres’s face grew even darker. ‘She’s too eye–catching. A big–name director’s already shown interest in her–she could become a child star. A lot of people want to adopt her, but none of them have good intentions. What if she ends up as someone’s cash cow, used and controlled without any freedom? Could you live with that?”
Hayden was stumped. He had nothing to say to that. Of course he couldn’t live with it.
She was, after all, part of the Ace bloodline. Letting her fall into someone else’s hands would be unacceptable.
Andres’s tone dropped. “Name your price. I’ll pay rent for the place. You don’t have to do anything. I’ll hire a nanny. She just needs a place to stay. If you won’t do it, I’ll have to find someone else.”
Hayden sighed and rubbed his temples. “Fine. The passcode is 752777”
Marvin let out a quiet breath. “Got it.”
Hayden still looked sour. I’ll go check on her later, but let me make one thing clear–I don’t need your rent money. My assistant’s seen her before and said the kid’s got market potential. Marvin didn’t agree. “But Uncle, she’s still just a kid. Isn’t it a little early to throw her into showbiz?”
His two older cousins shot him a look of surprise.
Desmond teased, “What’s this, Marvin? Are you feeling protective of your little sister? Shopping trip turned into bonding time? Your affection meter went up?”
Marvin said, “What? I did not get won over!”
Andres frowned. “Natalia watches TV too, you know. What if she sees her?”
Hayden scoffed. “You don’t understand how much potential Chloe has. We’ll deal with it later. Alice is dead–what, Natalia’s gonna think she’s your kid now?”
Andres was quiet for a moment. He didn’t object.
Hayden let out an annoyed breath. “Then it’s settled. I’ll go home after work!
With that, he hung up the call and waved over his assistant. “Kelly, you’re coming home with me tonight.”
Kelly instantly tensed up. “Mr. Ace! After all these years by your side, are you finally falling for my looks? But I already have someone I like We’re just not meant to be?”

Hayden blinked. “What? Didn’t you say you were into that pretty little thing? The kid is my niece. I’m handing her over to you. to manage–what are you thinking?”
Kelly coughed and gave a sheepish smile. “You move fast, boss. Already brought that little starlet home? She was just trending on social media today!”

He wasn’t interested.
After 8 PM, Hayden drove with Kelly to Tomson Residences.
Kelly was practically bouncing in her seat. “We’re about to meet our little internet celeb! Wonder if she’s easy to get along with, if she listens. Do you think I can be her agent?”
Hayden snorted while driving. “Sure. You’ll be her agent and manage just her.”
Kelly nodded eagerly. “It’ll be my first time as an agent, but don’t worry–I won’t let you down.”
Then she paused and thought aloud. “Say, this is your niece. She’s been in an orphanage all this time. Aren’t you even a little excited to finally meet her?”
Hayden frowned. Excited? He.
He drawled lazily. “Even if I dropped dead outside and saw her right before my eyes, I wouldn’t feel a thing”
With that, he took the elevator to the right floor and stepped inside the apartment.
