简介:
At our ninth wedding anniversary party, my husband arrived fashionably late–with his first love on
his arm.
In front of all our guests, he proudly announced that Kinsley was already three months pregnant
with his child.
“This baby is precious to Kinsley. To show my gratitude to her, I’ll transfer company shares to our child on their eighteenth birthday!”
Someone in the crowd spoke up: “Mason, isn’t that completely unfair to your wife Aria?”
He sneered in response: “Thanks for the reminder! After the party ends, I’ll take Aria to have her
fallopian tubes removed. Since she can’t bear children anyway, that seems perfectly fair.”
Looking at the man I’d loved for over a decade, I walked out through the crowd’s pitying, mocking,
and confused stares. My voice was ice as I said: “I want a divorce.”
He dismissed me with a casual wave. “Aria, no offense, but if you actually manage to leave me in
this lifetime, I’ll give you everything I own.”
He thought I was just being emotional. This time, though, I was dead serious.

At our ninth wedding anniversary party, my husband arrived fashionably late–with his first love on
his arm.
In front of all our guests, he proudly announced that Kinsley was already three months pregnant with his child.
“This baby is precious to Kinsley. To show my gratitude to her, I’ll transfer company shares to our child on their eighteenth birthday,” he declared with a smug smile.
Someone in the crowd spoke up: “Mason, isn’t that completely unfair to your wife Aria?”
He sneered in response: “Thanks for the reminder! After the party ends, I’ll take Aria to have her fallopian tubes removed.
Kinsley covered her mouth with a giggle. “Mason, this divorce talk is just your wife being dramatic because I’m carrying your baby.”
“You know Aria can’t live without you. It’s so naughty of you to tease her like this.”
Mason laughed as he wrapped his arm around her waist. He pulled out a cigarette, about to light it, when he suddenly remembered Kinsley’s pregnancy. With a show of consideration, he tossed the
cigarette into the trash bin before turning to me with an accusatory glare.
“Kinsley just got pregnant and you’re already causing drama. I’m terrified history will repeat itself.”
I knew exactly what “history” Mason was referring to.
All these years, no matter how many times I tried to explain, he remained convinced that I was

responsible for the death of his and Kinsley’s first child.
I coldly shook my head. “Divorce me, and you won’t have to worry about history repeating itself. My
lawyer will draft the agreement–all you need to do is sign it.”
When I finished, the guests gaped in shock as murmurs once again filled the room.
Truth be told, for all nine years of our marriage, Mason had brought Kinsley to every anniversary
celebration.
Everyone had grown accustomed to their hostile attitude toward me, but no one expected I would
stand up to Mason like this and demand a divorce.
Someone couldn’t resist needling me:
“Come on, Aria, you’ve been with him for years. Don’t you understand Mason’s temperament by now? Marriage is about compromise–don’t take everything so seriously.”
“Yeah, Aria, you two grew up together. You can’t just throw away twenty years of history like it’s
nothing.”
I understood what they meant. They wanted me to sweet–talk Mason and Kinsley, just like every year before. If I just placated them both, everything would return to normal.
But I was tired of playing that game.
Seeing my serious expression, Mason lit another cigarette, letting it dangle from his lips as he ordered his assistant to bring pen and paper. With dramatic flourish, he scribbled out an agreement
and tossed it in my face.
I picked it up and saw he’d written a betting contract with his signature at the bottom. It stated that if I had the guts to divorce him, he’d actually respect me for it and voluntarily give up all his assets.
Kinsley peered over to read it, then shrieked:
“Mason, have you lost your mind?!”
“I know your wife can’t live without you, but what if she actually divorces you just to win this bet?”
Mason raised an eyebrow at her concern, his lips curling into a relaxed smirk. His face was full of mockery as his emotionless eyes locked with mine:

“If she can’t manage to leave me, then she’d better behave herself.”
“And accept Kinsley and her baby.”
