Logan returned to the villa, soaked and silent.
Grace rushed over, concern written across her face.
“Logan, I heard that Emily passed away. Please… don’t be too sad…”
His eyes immediately turned cold.
“Grace, did you already know that Emily was dead?”
Grace froze. She realized she couldn’t hide it any longer and softened her voice.
“I was afraid you’d take it too hard. I wanted to wait… to tell you later.”
Logan let out a sharp laugh and raised his phone. The screen was still lit with images–photos Grace had sent.
“Grace, didn’t I tell you to stay away from her?”
“Logan…”
“I told you I needed to handle things with Emily myself. Did you not understand that?”
The air in the villa dropped several degrees. Logan reached out and clutched her neck, his fingers pressing tightly.
Grace trembled.
“I just… I care about you too much. I was afraid she’d take you away from me.”
Logan laughed, the sound dry and bitter.
If Grace had ever loved him, why had she abandoned him overseas three years ago?
The only person who had truly loved him… was gone.
He closed his eyes.
“Tomorrow’s engagement,” he said flatly, “is cancelled.”
“What did you just say?”
“The Morgan Family will receive full termination notices from the Logan Group.”
Grace panicked.
“Logan, the invitations are already out. You can’t-”
She didn’t get the chance to finish.
The rest of her words were shut out by the sound of the door slamming behind her.
Logan’s lips curled into a cold, cruel smile.
