screen.
Every word cut like a sharp blade, stabbing mercilessly at Alisa and Evan, forcing them to hang their heads in shame.
The moment the judge announced the verdict, Alisa and Evan could no longer hold themselves up, collapsing to the ground with legs too weak to support them.
Under multiple charges, they were sentenced to forfeit all their assets and pay over a million dollars in fines. Each would also serve an additional twenty years in prison.
As the police escorted Alisa and Evan toward the prison, Evan passed by me.

I said calmly, “Why would you think I could forgive you?

“You and Alisa committed countless crimes for money. You deserve the punishment the law has given you. Even if I dropped my charges, countless victim families wouldn’t drop theirs.
“Besides, I won’t back down. I could never forgive you.”
