Chapter 7
Ten years ago, the Duncan family crushed the Morrison family, causing the accidental deaths of Ryan’s parents.
The only survivor was Ryan, who had joined the army at that
time.
I held the investigation report in a daze.
Although I didn’t want to believe it at all, my intuition told me
that it was all true.
Although I was still young ten years ago, I had heard about the
conflicts between the Morrison and Duncan families.
In that moment, it felt like my whole world came crashing down.
“The man I loved for five years married me just for revenge?” I
wondered.
At this moment, Nathan suddenly came forward and held my hand tightly, comforting me with a soft voice and touching words.
“Emma, you have to believe that I am the only one in this world who loves you!
“Ryan hid it from you. He had ill intentions right from the
beginning!”
But I pushed Nathan’s hands away on reflex and stepped back as if I had just been electrocuted.
His eyes were red and filled with tears. There was no light left in
them, as he put on a desperate smile.
“Nathan, you are not a good person either.
“Have you forgotten everything you had done to me five years
ago?”
I slowly removed the hearing aid from my right ear, which was
covered behind my hair.
“You were the one who ruined my right ear. Why did you do that?
“Nathan, do you know what it feels like to not be able to hear anything at all?”
After saying this, he stepped back as if he had encountered something terrifying, bumping against the table behind him.
The coffee spilled on him, and the cup shattered on the floor.
“Impossible, it couldn’t have been me. You were fine after that.”
Chapter 7
Nathan was right about that.
Although the impact was obvious, I could still hear something in
that ear.
It was so until that day when I was stabbed in the back by the Duncan family and was abandoned by him.
The doctor said that I was under great mental stress. That, coupled with the aftereffects of that previous impact, rendered me completely deaf in my right ear.
1 put on my hearing aid calmly.
He said to Nathan with a neutral expression.
“Even if things weren’t working
Ut between Ryan and me, even
if Ryan is divorced, I won’t go back to you. No way!”
He stood there like he was frozen in place.
I left the cafe.
I walked on the road in a daze.
I probably had really bad luck. I met Victoria not long after I
walked away.
It would be more accurate to say that she came to see me on

purpose rather than just bumping into me.
As soon as we met, that deep hatred in her eyes was
unmistakable.
“Emma, you’ve disappeared for five years. Why do you suddenly show up again?”
Under normal circumstances, I might have been in the mood to argue with her a little more.
I was already upset at the moment, so I frowned and growled impatiently.

“Just say what you came to say–I don’t have time to waste on this!”
Victoria was stunned for a moment, and the anger in her eyes suddenly became even more apparent.
“Emma, how dare you talk to me like that?”
In the past, I would always subconsciously cut her some slack due to her relationship with Nathan.
But now that I don’t even want to get near Nathan, I wasn’t in the mood to care about her.
Without saying anything more, I turned around and wanted to

leave.
Victoria naturally got upset. She walked up to me and grabbed my wrist tightly.
“I haven’t finished talking yet. Where do you think you’re going?
“Emma, I have to say that you are really something. Even though you have disappeared for five years, Nathan is still obsessed
with you!”
As she said that, she immediately grabbed my wrist and started playing tricks.
The sharp nails gradually pierced into my wrist.
“But I was able to force you to hide from everyone else five
years ago, and now I can still make it so that you’ll never be able
to go home!”
The stinging pain in my wrist made it impossible for me to
suppress the anger in my chest any longer.
I had been suppressing my anger caused by Ryan’s matters, but that anger just exploded, causing me to slap Victoria hard.
She was stunned for a moment and screamed.
“You dare to hit me?”
Chapter 7
Still not satisfied, I grabbed her hair, kicked her, and finally threw
her to the ground.
Victoria screamed from the beating, and I glared at her coldly.
“Is this what you wanted? If that’s not enough, say the word-
I’ve got more!”
