I stared at the video in stunned silence, my heart filled with shock.
The Gavin in the video looked like he hadn’t slept for days. His eyes were bloodshot, his hair disheveled, his face gaunt and haggard–completely different from the man he was now.
In the footage, my first encounter with Gavin had been at school. He’d returned to his alma mater as a teaching assistant for a month–long position, and I sat in the audience, seeing him for the first time.
From that day forward, I began secretly following Gavin, taking candid photos of his daily life. To get closer to him, I even tailed him home and snuck into his house, hiding under his bed.
However, I had no idea at the time that Gavin already knew everything.
Later, Nash told me that Gavin’s family needed a tutor
and asked if I’d be interested in applying. I agreed without
hesitation.
It was also a rainy night when I got stranded at Harris Manor, Cunable to return home. Gavin invited me to stay the night, which
filled me with wild joy.
However, I never could have imagined that beneath Gavin’s

That night, he unknowingly drank the drug I’d secretly slipped into his water glass. Everything unfolded exactly as I’d first witnessed in the study.
I was pathologically obsessed with the perfect Gavin, setting trap after trap for him. And he never disappointed me, willingly taking the bait every single time.
Gavin seemed to relish my methods. He enjoyed the feeling of having his perfect public image completely shredded by me. In front of me, he shed all his pretenses like removing a mask.
He adored me, anticipated me, fell in love with me.
However, time slipped by quietly, and the month quickly passed. Just then, I lost my memory.
Only then did Gavin learn that before meeting him, I’d been in a car accident. That accident not only took my parents‘ lives but also left me with a rare form of amnesia.
My memory could only last one month before being completely wiped clean. I forever believed my parents were still alive, forever believed I was still in graduate school.
In reality, when I met him, I’d already graduated six months earlier. But because of my amnesia, I continued wandering around campus. Every month, I would ask Nash to help me

revise that paper that would never be submitted.

Gavin refused to give up. Every month, he would approach me again, trying to re–enter my life. Sometimes these efforts worked, sometimes they yielded nothing.
Due to my extremely unstable temperament, sometimes I’d blush speechlessly upon seeing him, while other times I’d be filled with disgust toward him.
But Gavin never backed down. Like a dedicated actor, he repeated the script of meeting me every month.
Gradually, he became more and more skilled at it. He would first observe my personality traits for that month, then find the right way to approach me.
We kissed in the library and discussed papers in lecture halls. We climbed abandoned old buildings together for adventure and talked about the future under moonlit lawns.
Whether we were laughing heartily or crying our hearts out, every month these memories would be completely erased.

I continued scrolling through the videos and discovered that Gavin’s mental state fluctuated dramatically, entirely dependent on my personality that month.

In one video, Gavin announced that we were married, showing off a marriage certificate identical to the one in my hand. The wedding date matched the record on the certificate.
That month, I had been unexpectedly docile and agreeable. Gavin brought me home, trying to comfort me and cure my amnesia.
But nothing worked.
We went to many places and took countless photos. But every first of the month, when I woke up, I would still scream in terror beside his pillow.
