There was a hint of self–deprecation in Yvonne’s words, and Isabel couldn’t help inwardly cursing out Jared when she picked up
“on it.
“It’s all in the past,” she told Yvonne reassuringly. “It won’t happen again.”
Yvonne hummed in acknowledgement.
Was it truly all in the past though?
After successfully unlocking her phone, she saw notifications for various missed calls and unread WhatsApp messages.
Among the people trying to contact her, Anthony and Shane had made the most attempts.
She took a deep breath, feeling helpless, and did not reply to those messages.
She had been in the news yesterday due to being trapped in the landslide, but her identity had not been disclosed.
For them to know that she was in danger and express concern for her, Jared must have told them about it.
“The insurance company mentioned that they needed you to personally sign some documents, so let’s head there now,” said Isabel.
“Okay,” said Yvonne, muting her phone and putting it back in her bag.
While they were waiting for the documents to be processed at the insurance company, Isabel received another call from the renovation company.
“I never knew making renovations was so troublesome.”
“It’s for the sake of our studio,” Yvonne said placatingly. “Just pass the car keys to me while you go ahead and handle that.”
Isabel was particularly concerned about her. “That works, but won’t you feel traumatized driving a car right now?”
“I’ll be fine. My driving skills are really good,” Yvonne said reassuringly.
She was gradually calming down and no longer felt panicked when she recalled yesterday’s event.
After she’d finished dealing with the insurance company, she glanced at her phone and abruptly noticed that her real estate agency was calling her.
“There’s a client who wishes to buy the apartment you put up for sale, Ms. Jamison. The other party is very sincere about the
purchase and owns a corporate account.
“If you’re interested in selling the apartment, you can come over to sign the documents immediately. Once the contract is signed, the money will be transferred to you promptly.”
Yvonne could guess with certainty that the buyer was Jared.
She knew what his intentions were, but she still had to pay Samuel back for the money he spent buying Andrew’s posthumous work at the auction, so she had to sell the apartment.
If the apartment could be sold at 3.5 million dollars, then it didn’t matter to her who the buyer was.
“Alright. I’ll sell it to that client,” she replied without indicating that she knew who the buyer was.
Jared had searched all night for Yvonne without any results, which was how he’d finally thought of buying her apartment instead.
But he hadn’t expected to receive an update so quickly.

As he quickly drove toward the real estate company, he received a call from Anthony.
Yvvy’s selling an apartment through a real estate agency, and I’m going over to see her right now. I want to ask her exactly what she’s been up to, since she didn’t come back all night.”
Anthony, worried that they would end up fighting, anxiously hurried over from his office as well.
Meanwhile, Yvonne had finished signing the purchase and sale agreement, and the corporate account had transferred the money very quickly.
After paying the real estate company, she left with the document hand. As soon as she walked out of the building, she looked up to see a Bentley parked at the entrance.
Jared hadn’t slept for an entire night, so his eyes were completely bloodshot. When he caught sight of Yvonne, he stared fixedly at her as if he didn’t dare believe his eyes.
“You didn’t come home last night, Yvvy. Where were you hiding?” he asked hoarsely.
Yvonne simply looked coldly at him.
“Are you hurt?” he asked.
He took a deep breath and approached her slowly. It was as if he’d been suppressing his emotions for a long time and they were now weighing him down.
“I didn’t expect the danger either. I just wanted to prepare a gift for you,” he explained desperately. “If I could go back in time and make the choice again, I would have taken you with me so that your life wouldn’t be in danger.”
Yvonne sneered. “If you’re really reflecting on your actions, then you shouldn’t have done such a thing. You almost killed me, Jared.”
“That wasn’t what I wanted, Yvvy. I just wanted to give you a surprise. It was all for your sake! Fortunately, you’re alright. Do you know that I searched for you the whole day yesterday? I was really worried about you.”
He strode over to hug Yvonne, but she threw the water in the bottle she was holding at him.
“How many times have I told you that I don’t need your concern? Can you please stop messing around endlessly?” she snapped angrily.
“All my efforts have been for your sake, Yvvy,” Jared said insistently. “It must also be painful for you to go against your heart, so why persist in rejecting me?”
Then, he noticed that she’d changed her clothes and couldn’t help starting to speculate wildly.
