Chapter 113
Jared waited on Frederick’s answer with bated breath.
After looking into the person who’d written the project plan, Frederick replied, “There’s no name disclosed on the project plan, Mr. Ford. The Department of Arts and Culture said that Professor Weedle’s apprentice was responsible for it.”
How was Jean’s apprentice related to Yvonne?
“The information in this project plan is laid out in great detail. I can tell at a glance that Professor Weedle’s apprentice is very knowledgeable about intangible cultural heritage and is definitely no ordinary person,” said Selena.
She was one of the more knowledgeable people in the room about tangible cultural heritage, so she couldn’t help showing off a little.
She added, “I listened in on Professor Weedle’s lectures while abroad, and many designers recommended by famous colleges have wanted to become her students, only to be rejected. Professor Weedle’s eyesight isn’t very good now, so her apprentice must be a successor she’s training.”
She was anfong the designers who’d been rejected by Jean.
“I visited Professor Weedle just after I returned to the country, and I heard that she’s also going to become a judge for the competition. She’s one of the figureheads in the promotion of intangible cultural heritage in Jeriton City.
“For the Department of Arts and Culture to have managed to combine this event with Hover Group’s lifestyle shopping center project, there’s no way that anyone who managed to get into Professor Weedle’s team is some ordinary person. Her apprentice must be some big shot that we don’t recognize.”
Selena’s analysis made a lot of sense.
In her opinion, someone who could beat her and become Jean’s apprentice definitely had to have a better background and academic standing than her. Otherwise, how could she have possibly lost?
In fact, perhaps Jean’s apprentice was a man. At any rate, Selena had never heard of a female designer in Jeriton City who was better than her.
As Jared listened to Selena’s analysis, he also found it reasonable.
Why had he suspected that this large–scale intangible cultural heritage project had something to do with Yvonne?
After thinking it through carefully, he realized that Yvonne had worked with him as his secretary after she’d graduated and thus had absolutely no understanding of intangible cultural heritage.
He took a deep breath to calm himself and rid his mind of those strange, absurd thoughts.
“Since you know about intangible cultural heritage, Selena, you’ll represent the marketing department in cooperating with the projects department to prepare for this.
“Feland Group is not to be underestimated in this competition. We must be the ones to secure this project with Hover Group.”
“Don’t worry, Jared. I’ve studied design, after all, so you can trust me when it comes to aesthetics and creativity,” Selena said confidently.
She wanted to work hard for Ford Corporation too. In addition to her jealousy–inducing status as the daughter of a wealthy family, she wanted to score achievements and build up a reputation of her own.
“You’ll be transferred to the projects department to help make progress on this project during this time, Ms. Ember,” instructed Jared. “You can report directly to me about anything relevant.”
He had no choice but to send Shirley if he wanted to keep Frederick with him to deal with other affairs.
If only Yvonne were already back.

Reluctance flashed across Shirley’s eyes when she was called upon but she still smiled and replied, “I’ll definitely work hard on this project. After all, it’s very important to you, Mr. Ford.”
But she didn’t want to run around working her butt off in the projects department.
The last time she’d pretended to help out at college for two days, she hadn’t achieved a thing and had even gotten an unwanted
tan.
She flipped through the project details with a disdainful expression
“But am I the only one who finds this strange? These intangible cultural heritage works don’t seem very valuable. How could the Department of Arts and Culture collaborate with Hover Group’s major project to promote them?”
“I don’t think these works suit a high–end shopping center, and it doesn’t look like they plan on inviting any celebrities to help with the promotion.
“I really don’t understand why Hover Group decided to make this event the challenge that Ford Corporation and Feland Group have to compete over.”
Selena glared at her and asked in displeasure, “Do you think only big–name foreign brands will be coveted? These intangible cultural heritage works are worth extremely high prices overseas, and they’re also liked by many young people nowadays.
“I suggest that you do some more homework if you don’t understand anything about intangible cultural heritage, Ms. Ember. Don’t embarrass Ford Corporation.”
Shirley knew very well that she couldn’t afford to offend Selena, so she pretended to obediently agree with her. “You’re really knowledgeable and talented, Ms. Ford. I’ll study hard to further my understanding about this.”
However, Selena saw through her intentions.
