Chapter 25
Yvonne didn’t think it was any of her business that Jared had been on his way to see her. He’d decided that himself and had been behind the wheel.
She said, “Jared’s matters have nothing to do with me, Anthony. There will be plenty of people to care for him since he’s already at the hospital.”
She took a deep breath to calm herself and hung up before Anthony could say anything.

The renovation workers hired to set up her workshop in the villa were toiling away. Isabel had impeccable taste, so Yvonne didn’t interfere with that.
There were plenty of unopened parcels at home since she’d just wrapped up work. Yvonne added things here and there as she slowly turned the place into something that she liked.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Yvonne got up to answer the door. She was surprised to see Anthony and Shane outside.
“I asked Frederick for your address,” Anthony explained. “I know you and Jared have some misunderstandings, but I’m not here to pressure you into forgiving him. I just want you to visit him at the hospital.
“The doctor said he needs plenty of rest because he hit his head, but he keeps trying to leave the hospital to see you. You don’t want anything to happen to him, do you?”
Shane pointed at their car. “We drove all the way here to escort you to the hospital. Come with us.”
Yvonne furrowed her brows in resignation. “I made myself clear over the phone. His matters have nothing to do with me.‘
Her attitude was resolute.
”
Anthony lowered his voice and said, “I know why you’re mad. Yes, Jared made a mistake. But you two have been together for so long–you’re about to get married! You don’t have to take things this far, do you? Please go see him, Yvonne. I’m begging you.”
Isabel heard all of this from inside the villa. She couldn’t take it anymore and strode toward them, snarling, “Is Jared Ford dead? Why do you guys keep wanting Yvvy to pay her respects?”
Her words were sharp–it was clear she was geared for battle. “If he’s just repenting for his sins before he dies, tell him to save it. Yvvy doesn’t have time for his bullshit. But if he’s dead, I’ll head out right now to buy a bottle of champagne so I can celebrate. Do you guys want to stay for that?”
Anthony and Shane didn’t expect her to pop up.
“Do you have something against Jared?” Shane couldn’t understand Isabel’s hostility.
He and Anthony knew Isabel was Yvonne’s best friend. They’d met during a few gatherings in the past but didn’t know each other well. So, they had no idea she was so sharp–tongued.
“No, I don’t. I just don’t like assholes.” Isabel stood before Yvonne and glared at Anthony and Shane. “You two self–appointed peacemakers can go now.”
“This is between Jared and Yvonne. It’d be best for you to stay out of this.” Anthony frowned. He turned to Yvonne and said, “Jared called and told me about your resignation. He got into the car crash because his emotions were all over the place.
“If you go see him at the hospital, you can tell him straight to his face about your grievances. I’ll make him apologize to you if he’s the one at fault.”
Yvonne shook her head calmly. “I don’t need it.”
“Whoa, what double standards,” Isabel said sarcastically. “I can’t stick my nose into my best friend’s affairs, but you guys can? Who are you to interfere in this,
then?
“If my memory serves me right, you guys are Yvvy’s friends, too, right? Why aren’t you considering her side in this? I knew men would always side with their own.”
Shane couldn’t help saying, “Talk properly if you have something to say. You don’t have to indirectly insult us all.”
“Why can’t I? You two and Jared Ford are equally shitty!” Isabel retorted. She had no qualms about insulting them–she was upset and needed to vent on someone.
Anthony and Shane were considered reputable in Jeriton City. They felt humiliated to be insulted like this.
“Can you be reasonable? Women are so troublesome!” Shane snapped.
“My, my. Are you losing your cool? Men are so emotional,” Isabel spat.
They couldn’t help getting into a fight.
