Even in Jared’s dreams, Yvonne was the only one who appeared. Shirley was overwhelmed by jealousy when she heard him mumble Yvonne’s name.
She growled, “I’m not Yvonne Jamison! Since you still can’t forget about her, I pray that she never returns! I’ll be the only one by your side in the future!”
Just then, footsteps came from outside the ward. Shirley immediately put on a docile look and turned to see it was Anthony. “Mr. Locke.”
“Is Jared still out?” Anthony asked.
Coincidentally, Jared opened his eyes just then. He asked hoarsely, “Where’s Yvvy?”
Anthony sighed and said helplessly, “Yvonne refused to come. You really need to set the record straight with her.”
Jared didn’t respond to that. Shirley took the opportunity to sow discord as she said, “Yvonne’s out of line. Mr. Ford got into an accident because of her, yet she’s not even willing to come visit him. She doesn’t care about him at all.”
“It’s not your place to comment on that, Ms. Ember.” Anthony looked at her, his voice cold as he said, “You have no right to talk about Jared and Yvonne’s relationship. No one knows better than I how well Yvonne treats Jared. Remember your place, and don’t speak out of line next time.”
“Yes, Mr. Locke.” Shirley looked aggrieved after being reprimanded. Why hadn’t Jared stood up for her?
Jared shut his eyes again as his head spun. Everyone knew how much Yvonne loved him–heck, even he knew! So why was she refusing to see him? It had to be torture forcing herself not to care about him.
Later, he fell asleep again. In his dream, he vaguely saw Yvonne keeping watch by his bedside. But when he woke up at 6:00 am, he was greeted by an empty room.
Suddenly, he missed her terribly. He endured the pain and discomfort as he dragged himself out of the hospital.
Yvonne woke up at 7:00 am, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a good night’s sleep. Although she’d still woken up early despite it being her first day of not needing to go to the office, she felt relaxed and calm. All the time she had now was hers and hers alone.
She drove to the largest supermarket in the vicinity so she could stock up. Having a full fridge would give her the motivation she needed to work.
She headed home after getting everything she needed. After parking, she got out and carried the things into the house. Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure standing outside the villa.
“Yvvy, were you worried about me?” Jared was still in a hospital gown and had bandages around his forehead. He looked ashen and weak.
Yvonne stopped to look at him. He smiled at her, his confidence boosted when he saw the bags she held. “I knew you still cared about me. Were you going to make me breakfast and bring it to the hospital for me? Open up so I can head inside and eat right here.”
He sounded so ridiculous that she couldn’t help laughing. “You really hit your head good, huh? The damage seems quite extensive.”
“You regret not visiting me last night, don’t you? You regret being so stubborn!” Jared boldly came to that conclusion.
It was chilly in the morning, and he’d waited there for a while. Yvonne had blocked him on everything, so he couldn’t even reach her.
He continued, “I didn’t eat anything yesterday, so make me something to warm me up later. Why aren’t you opening the door?”
He turned to look at her, still as high and mighty as ever.
Yvonne put on a stoic face as she looked at him, her gaze as chilly as the morning air. “This is my home, and I didn’t invite you here. Head back to the hospital the
same way you came.”
”
Jared’s smile disappeared. He was aggravated by her coldness. “Are you still mad? I gave you two days to calm down, didn’t I? Did you just let that time go to waste? Do you know why I got into an accident yesterday? It’s because I went to the wedding dress boutique and saw your wedding dress cut to pieces…”
“Since you saw that, you should know my stance on this,” Yvonne said.
