Chapter 47
Yvonne could clearly see the mockery in Selena’s eyes.
“No need,” she replied flatly. She didn’t like the pearls anyway.

In fact, she and Selena had known each other for many years. Since Selena was Jared’s sister, Yvonne had tried to be friendly, even making an effort to get along. However, she’d always noticed the subtle disdain hidden behind Selena’s smile.
Yvonne wasn’t one to force friendships, so over time, their encounters had grown more distant. Now, there was no need for them to interact at all.
“I have to go,” Yvonne added.
Even though she couldn’t get the large pearls, she still had to return to Jean, who was waiting for her.
Yvonne’s response was cold as she hurried away. Selena couldn’t help but sneer at her retreating figure.
“Why is she running so fast? She must feel embarrassed to get caught in such a sorry state. She’s probably mortified inside.”
Selena was sure this was why Yvonne didn’t want to leave Jared–she was after the life of a wealthy wife. Perhaps Jared had initiated the breakup because he was simply fed up with her.
“Show me the pearls Yvonne couldn’t afford,” she ordered.
Tiffany handed over the pearl box.
The two friends standing next to Selena couldn’t help but be amazed when they saw the pearls.
“Wow, these are gorgeous! It’s so rare to find pearls of this quality.”
“They must be super expensive, but Selena can afford whatever she likes.”
Selena held the pearls in her hand, inspecting them, then smiled.
“The Jamison family used to deal in jewelry, so Yvonne’s taste isn’t bad. If she likes it but can’t afford it, it just proves she’s not worthy. For me, spending under a million dollars is no burden at all. Have them made into a set of jewelry and sent to the Ford residence.”
Tiffany had seen the world. She didn’t explain that Yvonne didn’t find it unaffordable but rather simply didn’t like the quality.
“Sure, Ms. Ford.”
Such a large order was not to be passed up.
“We really envy you, Selena,” Selena’s two friends chimed in, offering their insincere admiration.
Selena enjoyed the praise.
“I don’t rely on my family when I buy things. A woman who doesn’t have her own career will eventually be abandoned by her man,” she said.
In fact, she’d splurged a bit today. But all she had to do was pout at Wanda, and the costs would be covered.
“Let’s go. We need to buy gifts for Professor Weedle.”
In Jean’s workshop, although the large pearls for the crown hadn’t arrived yet, Yvonne had finished restoring its circlet.
“Yvonne, I think I should get insurance for these skilled hands of yours,” Jean said. She’d taught Yvonne everything, and now she just stood by to offer guidance. Yvonne finally relaxed. “I’m your apprentice. I just hope I won’t embarrass you.”
Once the priceless piece was fully restored, it would be sent back to the National Museum for continued display.
“Professor Weedle, you have a guest,” a young woman said. She was Jean’s assistant, Auna Bowman.
Yvonne stood up to tidy the somewhat messy workshop.
“Leave these things to me, Ms. Jamison,” Anna said.
It’s fine. You’re here to take care of Professor Weedle, not me. Go buy the ingredients for dinner. I’ll take care of this,” Yvonne replied.
Hearing that there was a guest outside, she decided not to enter the living room and instead exited through the side door.
In the living room, Selena walked in, carrying some supplements. She greeted Jean with a respectful smile, “Professor Weedle, I’m Selena Ford. I had the honor of studying under you abroad for a while.
“I heard you’ve been having trouble with your eyes. You’re a leading figure in the jewelry world, Professor Weedle. You must take care of yourself.” Jeansmiled gently, like always “I remember you. You studied design at Yalta Academy, and I saw your graduation work. You have great potential.” bat she also knew that the only invitation to Yalta Academy had been given to Yvonne tour years ago.
